Chapter 9 The Evidence Uncovered

Penulis: Perfect Timing
While the police led their team around searching for clues, my eyes caught something on the principal's desk—the pen-camera I had planted earlier. I quickly connected it to my phone and replayed everything it had recorded.

On the screen, Yvonne sat between the principal and Brian, both of them letting their hands wander all over her. She pushed at them half-heartedly, feigning resistance, and said coyly, "I'm so nervous… Those parents are crazy and irrational. I can't eat or sleep."

The two men immediately melted with pity.

"Don't worry, Yvonne," Brian said. "We've planned a safety drill. When the time comes, pretend you're unwell and leave the classroom first. I'll send Jasmine back inside to save the kids. I know her—she'll never abandon her students."

At that, he laid out the entire scheme right in front of the camera before they began tugging at Yvonne's clothes. I shut the feed in disgust and passed the recording straight to the police.

His face twisted with rage as he pressed a towel hard over my mouth and nose. "You've only got yourself to blame for being too smart, Jasmine. If you'd just admitted the guilt like we told you to, things wouldn't have come to this. Yvonne's health has always been fragile—unless you're gone for good, she'll never have peace of mind. We'll all be grateful to you for it."The towel stole my breath, and with the dust choking my nostrils, I inhaled even more of it. The lack of oxygen sent waves of darkness crashing over me. Out of sheer survival instinct, I snatched up a shard of broken glass and drove it deep into his hand.He cried out in pain and flung me aside, but in doing so, he inhaled a lungful of dust. His face turned ashen, his asthma kicked in, and he broke into violent coughing fits. Tears welled at the corners of his eyes as he fumbled for his inhaler but couldn't open it. "Jasmine… help me," he rasped.I stood and kicked the inhaler out of his hand, sending it rolling int

The days passed without any sign of the threats I had been expecting. Thanks to the principal and Brian's protection, Yvonne was back at the school teaching again. To ensure her safety, her desk had even been moved into the principal's office. Every time she saw me, she gave me a knowing little smile that sent a chill down my spine.Suddenly, the school bell rang—it was a drill for earthquake evacuation. I was about to run out to the open field when Brian grabbed my hand. "Even if it's just a drill, you can't abandon the kids and run off on your own. As a teacher, your job is to protect your students."Yet, I hadn't even been teaching a class at the time. The responsibility should have fallen to the teacher in charge. Still, when I heard the frightened cries coming from inside the classrooms, I turned back. The class Annie was in had been locked in—the door bolted shut—and I couldn't get in.'Boom!'The entire building shook violently as a cloud of dust mixed with water filled the

When I arrived at work the next morning, a crowd of parents had gathered at the school gates and had practically surrounded the whole place. As soon as they saw me, a group of them pressed forward and thrust the gifts in their hands toward me."Miss Solano, we're so sorry. We overreacted yesterday—we were just so worried about the kids and accidentally hurt you.""Don't worry, we won't let you lose your job. We're going to wait right here for Keller to come and give us an explanation."I refused their gifts one by one and told them I understood how they felt. They cleared a path for me, and I squeezed through. No sooner had I sat down than the colleague who had called me to the office the previous day couldn't help but gripe. "What's the deal with this Yvonne? Both principals are bending over backward to protect her. All those parents out front are probably wasting their time—Yvonne called in sick today, said her depression flared up, and took the day off."I snorted and said, "Oh

  • Reborn: Deal with the "Innocent" Teacher   Chapter 5 Evidence and Betrayal

Looking at the sweet little girl in front of me, I couldn't fathom how Yvonne had the heart to hurt such innocent children.Annie's father, worried about his daughter's reclusive nature and that she might be bullied at school, had pinned a small camera to her chest. That camera was my one lifeline—the proof of my innocence.I sent the footage from the day before into the parents' group chat and tagged everyone. It was the first time I had seen the video myself. The timestamp showed 2:05 p.m.—the exact moment I had sent Yvonne to fetch Ethan's parents. In the classroom, chaos reigned as some children cried after one of their classmates collapsed. Yvonne screamed hysterically, "None of you are allowed to talk about what happened today!" Several students protested, but she beat the ones who spoke up until they went silent. For an entire hour, she punished them mercilessly. The moment the footage went out, the group chat exploded. Parents began tagging Yvonne, demanding an explanation.

We had planned to wait until Ethan's surgery was over before leaving, but his mother shoved us out. No sooner had we reached the hospital gates than a pack of reporters swarmed toward us with cameras and microphones. Brian immediately yanked off his jacket and covered Yvonne's head."You're teachers who responded quickly with first aid, right? Otherwise, the child would have died—we'd like to interview your school about teacher training as an example."Hearing that it was an interview, Yvonne instantly revealed her face and announced to the cameras, proud and confident, "You've got the wrong person—I'm the teacher who gave the child the medicine and saved him."All the lenses trained on her as she spoke like a model of composure. "As teachers, we must spot a child's abnormal signs right away and perform the appropriate emergency aid…"I slipped out of the crowd; I couldn't stand to listen to her fabricated lies. The most important thing now was to get back to school and calm the st
