Her name

After a long eventful night, Austin dropped Cameroon off at his house. Cameroon said goodbye and walked into his empty house. As he approached the stairs, he didn’t feel the emptiness that usually accompanied him whenever he came home. On this particular night, he felt at ease. Peaceful even. He walked into his house and fell on his couch immediately. He didn’t turn on his lights. He picked up his phone and dropped it back so many times. Like he had done since he left the hospital. He was waiting for her call. And it didn’t come. He gave himself a light smack on his head.

He should have taken her number instead. What was he thinking? Why did he ask her to call him? He smacked himself again. How stupid he had been.

As he lay in the dark, he tried to remember where he had known her. And why he had been so drawn to her.

He searched his head, he hadn’t even gotten her name. He felt stupid.
