Cameroon’s heart raced as he heard her voice. And her name. Elena. How appropriate.
There was a long pause. None of them said anything. They simply listened to each other’s breathing. His own, deeper than hers.Elena was the first to break the silence.“hi.” She said one word. One word that held the deepest emotions that any human could ever convey. And he felt it too. The connection.Cameroon ran his hands across his hair.“hi.” He responded.Another silence followed. He connected the call to the speakers in his car. By the time she spoke again, her voice traveled around the car.“what are you up to?” Elena asked him.“I’m sitting in my car. Was going to take a drive to my lawyer’s office.” He replied.“lawyer. Do you want to share?” Elena inquired.“sure. “Cameroon said. He wanted to share with her. Tell her everything that was going on. He had the urge to spill it all. Not hold back.
But he didn’t want to do that over the phone. He wanteHi guys. Rayden here. This is me giving a shout out to you all. Thanks for the reads. I appreciate everyone that has left a comment. Dave, Elena’s father coughed. Deliberately. But they didn’t bulge. They were locked in each other’s arms. Dave coughed again. Then again. This time, Elena pulled away. Cameroon let her go easily. His hands lingered on her hair. She had washed them as he suggested. And she hadn’t dried them. So they were still wet. He let her go. Elena turned to face her dad. “I’m going out briefly with him.” Dave didn’t respond. But he had thoughts running through his head. He had lost his daughter, not physically but all her memories were gone. And he was helping her get back into a schedule. And here was this guy, an alleged murderer, wanting to take her away. He was uncomfortable. But he also realized that Elena was an adult. And even though he loved her, he had to always remember that she was responsible for her decisions. She didn’t need his permission to go out. Even if it meant going out with this guy that stood in his living roo
Elena sat by the door of her bedroom. Her back to it. she had her knees curled up and her head buried into them. She cried. She had not seen that reaction coming. Not after they had made such passionate love-making to one another. For minutes she sat and cried. Not loud cries but soft gentle deep tears. She heard Susan come up to the door. Heard her ask “honey. Are you okay/ would you like me to come in? or do you need a minute?” Elena didn’t respond. She pressed her back against the door and when Susan tried to open it, she was met with some sort of resistance so she didn’t bother. For the first time since she traveled back in time, Elena missed her home. The future. She allowed herself to think of her sisters, her mother, and her best friend, Cheryl. Elena opened the door to the memories. A door she had shut. And as she opened up to them, the memories and the emotions they held flooded her head. She couldn’t place it. She was sure he felt the same w
Cameroon sat in his lawyer’s office and listened to everything that was being said. The lawyer was speaking about the next steps to take with his trial. He said something about a meeting with the presiding judge. Cameroon was trying his best to pay attention to his lawyer but it wasn’t working. He kept getting distracted over and over again. His mind wandered. To her. Elena. He was lost in the thoughts of her and soon, he could no longer hear the words been spoken by the lawyer. He was lost. His mind kept going back to those moments, where he had finally buried himself inside of her. It had been mind-blowing.He didn’t understand how he could have such a connection with her. In all his life, he had glided through as a playboy. Never fully committing himself to anyone. Even to his wife. But with Elena, it was different. It felt as if he didn’t even have a say in the matter. She owned him. His body. His soul. His spirit.“Cameroon.” His lawyer spoke.Cameroon di
After lunch, Elena sat with her parents for a while. They were out in the deck and taking in some sun. She had put on a generous amount of sunscreen and so was enjoying the leisure with a bottle of water. She was considering her next steps. How she was going to help Cameroon get out of jail. Because she knew he was innocent. Even though she had been upset earlier when he pushed her away, she was now a bit calmer. Maybe he was holding back. Maybe he was scared or whatever. She didn't know why but it didn’t hurt as much anymore. But still, she missed him. every second away from him was pain. Raw pain. Especially after he had buried himself inside her. she could still feel him, his touch, his smell. She pressed her legs together. And tried to push the thought away. Then her phone started to ring. It rang and rang and rang. But Elena did not pick up. Not because she didn’t want to but because she wasn’t with her phone. She had left her phone in her bedroom. So Cameroon
Elena went back to her room and pulled out her laptop. She had the intention of combing the web. For anything that might set Cameroon free from all charges. She wanted to look for anything that will reveal that Fred was in fact alive. And anything that would prove Emma’s involvement as well. She wasn’t going to give up until she found the answers she so desperately wanted. But where was she going to start from? Where? Her dad knocked on her door. She looked up and saw her dad walk in. She shut her laptop. “dad.” “hi. I came to apologize to you.” “apologize? No, dad. It’s fine” “it isn’t Elena. I should listen more. And I Promised your mother. I told her I was going to help you. So here I am. Offering my services. However, you may need them.” “So you aren’t here of your free will?” she asked sarcastically “come of it, Elena. You know she didn’t pull a gun at me. she didn’t make me come here. I’m h
Cameroon had been calling Elena non-stop. She wasn’t picking up. he was in a rage. Hot rage. Why wasn’t she picking? Was she angry with him? over what he had done? Shit. He had not meant it. To hurt her, no he had not. He would never think of hurting her. But she didn’t know that and he wanted her to know it. He had listened to his brother’s suggestion and decided to tell her everything. He wanted to be with her. but didn’t want to hold her back. now she wasn’t taking or returning his calls. Shit. “she isn’t picking still?” Austin's voice cut through his thoughts.” “Yeah. She isn’t.” “what do you want to do? Go see her?” “No man. I was over there today, twice, and it wasn’t pleasant the second time I dropped her off. Her father precisely told me not to come back there.” “damn man. That’s harsh. I feel for you.” But I need to see her. “Okay, let’s hack a plan. We can go in my car. And you stay in the back
It was midnight. And the lovers were still at the beach. They lay there, no words. Counting the stars with their eyes. Elena’s phone had been ringing the whole time, but she didn’t realize it.Her dad had been calling. The lovers held their hands as they looked to the skies. In those moments, Elena was the happiest she could ever be. She was content. This was why she came back, for this man. And right there, her heart was full. She was happy. He made her happy. He completed her. Dave and Susan hadn't gotten any sleep yet. They were waiting up for their daughter whom they had called several times. They hoped she was safe. By midnight, when she wasn’t picking and still wasn’t back home, Dave put a call through to his friend, the new commissioner of police. “hey, chief” the commissioner picked up at the first ring. “Mr. commissioner. Glad I caught you awake.” “I never sleep these days chief. The city never sleeps. This job is one hell
It was Tuesday. January 15th, 2013. In Sydney, Australia.Elena had not had any sleep the previous night and it was no surprise. She had been on the phone with her lover for most of the night. Her lover was probably going to prison that day. Elena was sure of the fact that he was going to be found guilty. She knew this because she came from the future. She simply had to work on getting him out. Before someone killed him in prison. She would have preferred to have him avoid prison totally though but she didn’t have enough time. And even though Cameroon had assured her, that his lawyers were the best and he could be found not guilty, she already knew how it was going to play out.Except, of course, she did something about it. Her dad, Dave was helping her get some facts. She had watched him for the last two days. He seemed dedicated to it. She had asked him about it but he hadn’t said much. He only told her that he was working with the commissioner to reveal
