After the roars of the crowd had quieted and the trial ground had emptied, a heavy silence descended across the central square of the Twilight Pack. The earth still bore the scars of the combat, and the very air pulsed with remnants of ancestral magic. While the others dispersed to their corners of the compound, Alpha Torin was summoned into the council hall by the remaining elder wolves—those too old to fight, but wise enough to shape the future.

Inside the dimly lit hall lined with ancient symbols drawn on wooden beams that had seen more generations than any of them could count, Torin stood tall, but the strain behind his eyes was unmistakable. One of the elders, a grey-bearded man named Fenric, stepped forward and cleared his throat.

“You seem unstable, Alpha,” he said frankly. “That was no ordinary combat rage. We most commend your efforts but your energy was off balance. You stumbled in the run. You hesitated during the trance. And even your fury seemed to have been clouding your

Freya burst into the elders’ hall with impatience. Her breathing was uneven, her heart pounding. Her hair was slightly disheveled, and her eyes scanned the room for answers. She had just woken up and been told something that didn’t make sense—Torin was gone.Gone? Her fists were clenched as she stormed past the guards and elders seated in a half-circle. Caleb, who had been heading toward her quarters, saw her running and immediately turned to follow, sensing something was wrong.“Elira!” Freya snapped as soon as she reached the center of the hall. “Where is Torin? Why would he leave without telling me anything?”The elders all looked up from their conversations, their expressions shifting from calm to uneasy. Elder Fenric adjusted his robe and rose to speak, but Elira spoke first, already standing at the far end of the table with her usual composed face.“There was no time for goodbyes, Freya,” she said smoothly. “The opening of the portal had to be precise. We couldn’t risk delay.”F

Elira drove through Hollow Vale with the hoodie of her oversized cloak drawn low, hiding most of her face. The early morning fog clung to the windshield as her car coasted past the crumbling town signs and sleeping houses. The woods on either side of the long stretch of road stood silent and watchful, like sentinels to what was coming. She turned sharply off the main path and onto a narrow dirt road, leading deep into the dense forest. A two-story building emerged at the end—a decrepit house cloaked in enchantment to remain invisible to the common eye. It was there they were all waiting. The ones who had plotted this day for months. The ones who wanted Alpha Torin dead.Elira stepped out of the car and adjusted her hood. Inside the house, the atmosphere was already tense. Imogene was pacing about, her violet robes brushing the ground. Athena, once the Luna of Twilight Pack and now nothing more than a venomous ghost of her past title, stood with her arms folded near the window. Alpha S

He found him. Caleb was leaning against a stone pillar beside his quarters, arms folded. When he saw Torin approach, he straightened. His eyes squinted as he watched him get closer.“You look like someone who just got exorcised,” Caleb said dryly. “Or laid hard. Either way, you need a bath.”Torin’s face remains expressionless “l’m not here to play.”Caleb tilted his head slightly. “So, what brings you here, Alpha?”“I need to ask you something, and I want the truth,” Torin said. His voice was calm but loaded. “Do you have any plans to take Freya from me?”Caleb was quiet at first, then he shook his head. “No. I don’t.”“Then why the hell was she in your bed?”Caleb opened his mouth, but paused. Kaelin’s words echoed in his mind. The threat. The secret she knew. If he spoke now, she’d expose him.Torin’s eyes narrowed. “Don’t keep anything from me, Caleb.”Finally, Caleb exhaled slowly. “Alright. I’ll tell you the truth. All of it.”Torin corossed his arms now, his expression pointing

“I believe he will come around, Freya. The Alpha just needs some time. He loves you way too much for his own good for you to think he would get rid of you just like that.” Kiera, who had now become Freya’s consistent confidant said, brushing her fingers through Freya’s hair.“He…he wouldn’t talk to me. I…I don’t know what to think. Caleb said he didn’t know I got in his room but how am I to be sure of that? I did think I could trust him but who or what could have possibly lured me to his chambers? It’s crazy to think about it.”For a moment, all Kiera could offer was her silence, then… “My sister would say, your instincts are your most loyal friend. If you want answers, listen to them with restful mind, and you shall gain clarity.”That seemed to pique Freya’s attention. “Freya, do your instincts tell you it’s Beta Caleb who did it?”Freya thought about it. Really thought about it, then turned to look at Kiera, and shook her head. “No. I don’t think it’s him. He looked…disturbed hims

Torin’s mind spiraled into the constructed illusion. Then the beast changed to human. Now, Torin was standing barefoot on gravel, the scent of pine and rain in the air. A boy’s laughter echoed through the clearing. “Tyler,” he muttered, recognizing the voice. The younger version of Torin ran beside his brother through the woods, mud on their legs, joy in their eyes. It was a memory that was pure and untouched. But then it shifted again. The woods grew darker and colder, and the laughters died.Tyler was suddenly dragged from view, screaming not to be taken away. Torin chased after him but the scene fractured like glass. Blood soaked the earth. A hunter stood over a dying version of him. “Ty…Tyler? Tyler!” Torin screamed. Tyler’s throat was torn open. The hunter beside him raised a blade up, ready to end it. Ready to kill Tyler and end his agonizing pain. “Poor Torin, now what do you do without your brother?” It was Freya’s voice. She was dressed a all black fitted leather fits, her d
