Chapter 1

Darren's POV

I was dragging a thug by the hair and kicking him viciously in the groin when my wealthy birth parents, Josiah Gunther and Yvonne Jackson, walked in on me after tracking me down.

"How dare you cheat on my friend with some side chick and have the nerve to come back and boss her around? Did you leave your brain somewhere?"

I nearly beat the thug to a pulp in front of Josiah and Yvonne, who, just moments ago, had been crying tears of joy over finding their long-lost son. I ended up turning them into two dumbfounded bystanders.

I clapped my hands together in satisfaction once I noticed that the thug couldn't get back on his feet.

I turned to my parents, who were dressed to the nines, and said, "I was kidnapped for so many years, and the orphanage was less than 60 miles away from you. I find it hard to believe that it took you guys 20 years just to find me. I think you never even wanted to find me in the first place."

Josiah and Yvonne looked visibly flustered for a moment. After all, as members of the upper class, they had never had anyone speak to them so crudely before.

I asked, "Didn't you come here to reunite with your biological son? Do you plan to go through with it or not?"

Josiah and Yvonne finally snapped out of it. Yvonne walked over, took my hand, and said, "We finally found you after all this time, Darren."

They kept saying that they loved me, but in my past life, they had been the ones to drive me into the abyss.

I stared intently at them, my eyes brimming with hatred. If they didn't like me being the obedient one, then I figured I might as well stop pretending this time.

I yanked my hand out of Yvonne's grip and said coldly, "I'm your biological son. Now that we've been reunited, you should at least give me a welcome gift."

I reached out my hand and said, "I hear your family has plenty of money, so give me 450 thousand dollars."

Josiah scowled and cast a confused glance over me. "What are you going to do with that much money?"

I replied flatly, "I suffered so much mistreatment in that orphanage over the years. Now that I've got someone backing me, I'm naturally going to get my revenge."

Josiah looked visibly annoyed as he said, "How could you still be hung up on something that happened years ago? That's not how a Gunther should behave—we're not that petty."

I ignored the gazes of the passersby around us and lifted my shirt to show the ugly surgical scar along my ribs, then rolled up my sleeves to let them see the cigarette burn marks on my arms.

"I got this scar from the surgery I needed after the orphanage director broke my ribs with a kick. Your son went missing for 20 years and has one fewer rib than everyone else. You really think that's no big deal?

"I got these cigarette burn marks when that creep tried to molest me. He burned me out of spite just because I fought back. Do you think I'm being petty?

"Do you know that a girl in the orphanage nearly got destroyed by that creep just because she was trying to protect me? She's still locked up like a dog in a mental asylum right now! How could I not hold a grudge over that?"

Yvonne burst into tears on the spot. She reached out to touch the terrible scar on my waist but pulled her hand back like she'd gotten an electric shock the moment she made contact. She was terrified that even a light touch would hurt me.

Third-Person POVThat afternoon, Josiah and Yvonne publicly announced that they were ending their parental relationship with Nicholas and expelling him from the family in an attempt to separate themselves from the scandal.Nicholas said indignantly, "I've already slept with Mabel countless times! I'm practically your son-in-law, even if I'm not your son! You can't do this to me! I just wanted to remain with the Gunther family! What on earth did I do wrong? It's already happened anyway, so what's the harm in letting me stay?"Josiah and Yvonne had raised Nicholas for 20 years, but they were surprisingly cold this time and kicked him out of the house. Nicholas even kneeled outside their front door for two whole days, but they didn't show a single sign of forgiving him.…Darren's POVThose shameful matters were meant to be handled behind closed doors, not dragged out in the open to use as bargaining chips, yet I acted ruthlessly, laying every single card I had right on the table

  • Reborn Heir Goes Psycho on His Family   Chapter 10

Third-Person POVEarly the following morning, Mabel was finally pushed out of the OR after almost five hours of emergency treatment.Just as Josiah and Yvonne were relieved that Mabel's hand had been saved, Nicholas suddenly let out a gasp while scrolling through his phone nearby.Josiah flinched at his sudden shout. "What are you yelling for? You nearly gave me a heart attack!"Nicholas suddenly looked up, only to lower his head again almost immediately. He stared at his phone in disbelief, panic written all over his face.Yvonne leaned over, looking confused. "What are you looking at? What's got you so rattled?"Nicholas quickly hid his phone and shook his head frantically. "I-it's nothing. It's just that a female celebrity I liked had a massive scandal drop."Yvonne patted Nicholas' head affectionately. "Is there even a female celebrity who doesn't eventually get caught in some scandal? That's just part of being a celebrity! Who were you fanboying over this time?"Nicholas r

Darren's POVMabel was well aware that since her life was on the line, pride and dignity meant nothing at that moment. She was only apologizing to her own brother, so there was nothing to be ashamed of. "I'm sorry, Darren! I'm the one at fault here! I know I shouldn't have treated you that way, so please forgive me!"She apologized without hesitation, showing an unusually humble and sincere attitude. She was afraid that any slight slip of the tongue would set me off and stop her from leaving the house.Upon seeing Mabel's sincere apology, I turned to Nicholas, who was supposedly fretting over Mabel, and said, "Mabel has already apologized. What are you going to do, Nicholas?"Nicholas trembled in sheer fury as he glared at me. "You could just step aside and allow Mabel to go to the hospital! You're clearly blocking the way to force me to my knees! Do you even give a damn about Mabel? Do you think you can bear the responsibility if anything happens to her?"Mabel had lost way too

Darren's POVI looked over Nicholas and said, "Go have him clear out his room and sleep in the maid's quarters instead. That was supposed to be my room in the first place. He's been occupying it for so many years, so it's time he returned it to me."I shot a meaningful look over at Mabel, who'd been remaining completely silent. "He's just an adopted substitute after all, something to keep you entertained. He took the place that belonged to me in the first place, and playing the squatter in someone else's room is hardly a good habit."Mabel slammed her hand on the coffee table and bolted upright, clenching her jaw in fury. "You'd better not push your luck, Darren! Who gave you the right to talk about Nicholas like that?"I grabbed the fruit knife off the coffee table just as Mabel raised her hand.Mabel brought her hand down for a slap, only for her palm to be stabbed straight through by the blade I held beside my face.Mabel screamed as blood splashed onto my face. She held up he

Darren's POVI grabbed Nicholas' arm and yanked him out of Yvonne's embrace. I then pointed toward the main entrance and said, "If you really give a damn about this family as much as you say you do, then get out here right now. I'll personally hold them back from chasing after you."I shoved him forward, adding, "Go on now. You surely weren't putting on an act just now, were you?""You're crossing the line here, Darren."Yvonne walked over, pulled Nicholas into her arms, and looked at me reproachfully. "You're our biological son, Darren, so we'll always be a family. As for Nicholas, we've raised him for 20 years, so he's already part of the family. "We don't want to lose him any more than we want to lose you. You're both our sons, and you're both equally important in this family."It's not like we're broke and can't feed everyone, so there's no need to push Nicholas out of the family. You can rest assured we know that we owe you for the past 20 years, Darren. Your father and I w

  • Reborn Heir Goes Psycho on His Family   Chapter 6

Darren's POVI added, "The Gunther family paid for all of your stuff, so you're not taking any of it with you—not your clothes, not your headphones, and not even your underwear! You can leave with nothing but what you're wearing right now! Get out this instant!"Upon seeing my total lack of mercy in kicking him out, Nicholas snapped and dropped the act entirely. "You'd better shut your damn mouth, Darren! I swear I'll have someone take you out! I'm the sole heir of the Gunther family! What right does some piece of trash who used to live off scraps have to order me around? You're nothing but a damn bastard! You should've just died out there!"In that instant, silence fell over the villa as everyone froze in shock. I shot Josiah and Yvonne a mocking look. "Is this the considerate son you were bragging about?"Nicholas suddenly looked completely panicked. He stood there looking terrified, like a dog that had just been caught wrecking the house. "W-what's gotten into me? What was I
