Amara’s POV

After we finished getting lunch, I was about to sit down when a tall, handsome man walked past me and greeted me politely.

He looked so familiar, but try as I might, I couldn’t place where I had seen him before. There was something about the way he carried himself calm, confident, yet unobtrusive—. that tugged at a memory in the back of my mind. I smiled politely and moved to sit with Lily and Damian, keeping my thoughts to myself.

Around the cafeteria, whispers floated through the air, girls leaning in to compliment him.

“He’s so handsome.”

“Is he single?”

“I heard he is.”

For a brief moment, a strange thought crossed my mind. What if I had married him instead?

I quickly shook the idea away.

No.

The reason I had been given this second chance was to live happily, not to fall in love again. Love was not part of my plan this time. Revenge… that was my goal.

Our table fell into an awkward silence. The only sound was the clinking of our cutlery as Damian picked at his food absentmindedly. I decided to break it.

“Damian, I remember you love classical music. Lily is also a fan,” I said casually, hoping to spark some small connection between them.

“Really?” he replied, glancing at Lily.

She suddenly looked shy, her cheeks turning red, and I couldn’t help but suppress a small, satisfied smile. But Damian… he didn’t seem very interested.

Now that’s the problem.

How do I make them fall in love? I’m not a matchmaker. This is going to be more difficult than I thought.

When we returned from lunch break, our manager called for a short meeting.

I remembered clearly what had happened in my previous life. I had volunteered to handle a project. Lily had stolen my idea and gained everyone’s admiration. When I had tried to explain that it was my work, people had looked at me as if I were jealous of my friend’s success. That memory made my chest tighten. Not this time.

“So, who would like to take on this project?” the manager asked after explaining the details.

“Let Lily take it,” I answered almost immediately.

Everyone turned to look at me. Shock painted their faces. This time, I refused to volunteer. I wasn’t going to give her the chance to steal my work again. Instead, I suggested Lily handle the project.

Soon, everyone agreed. I thought I saw a flicker of disappointment on Mr. Adrian’s face,( turns out he's our new manager ) but I ignored it. I had more important matters to focus on.

“Why do you suggest that?” he asked calmly. His voice. steady, soothing made me feel almost guilty for manipulating the situation.

“Well… she’s new, and she needs a project to start with. At least she can learn and get better at her job,” I replied.

I looked at Lily carefully. She seemed nervous, unsure of herself. I smiled quietly.

One thing nobody knew about Lily was that she couldn’t do anything on her own. She always relied on others or took credit for work that wasn’t hers. She forced a smile, trying to appear confident.

“I’ll try my best,” she said, voice trembling slightly.

“Sissy, you’ll help me with the project, right?” she whispered after the meeting, panic flickering across her face.

And honestly… I was enjoying it. I had no intention of helping her. I was far too busy plotting my own path.

Then an idea struck me.

“You can ask Damian for help,” I suggested casually, letting my voice be soft, almost playful. “He’s good at these things.”

Her face brightened slightly, a spark of hope glimmering in her eyes.

“But wouldn’t you feel sad if he spends time helping me until the project is done?” she asked, attempting to provoke me, no doubt.

Too bad. That was exactly what I wanted.

“Oh no, of course not. He’s my boyfriend, not my husband. I’m just lending him to you. You’re my sissy, so I trust you,” I replied sweetly, and inside, I almost laughed.

I packed my bag and prepared to leave. Closing time had already arrived.

Damian walked up to me, his expression hopeful.

“Babe, can I take you home?” he asked, voice warm and insistent.

I knew exactly what he meant. Every time he offered to take me home, it always ended with him wanting more. But I wasn’t going to let him touch me with those filthy hands.

“Oh no. I’ll be busy for a while, so I’m not going home yet. But you can take Lily home. She’s free and doesn’t have anyone to take her. You know she’s like a sister to me,” I said calmly, keeping my tone light, almost teasing.

“But I’ll feel uncomfortable,” Damian said, clearly dissatisfied, though he didn’t push.

I tiptoed slightly and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.

“Don’t worry. I’ll make it up to you later.”

He smiled, finally agreeing, and left with Lily. I exhaled deeply, relief washing over me like a warm wave.

I walked outside, planning to get a cab, when a sleek, black Range Rover stopped in front of me. The window rolled down, and there he was Mr. Adrian.

“Let me give you a ride,” he offered, voice polite, but with a softness that made my heart flutter unexpectedly.

I hesitated. A small pang of guilt crept into my chest, as if I were betraying Damian. But then I remembered my previous life. The lessons I had learned… the mistakes I would never repeat. Without thinking further, I opened the door and slid into the car.

“Thank you,” I said quietly, my voice barely above a whisper, yet carrying the weight of the trust I had just placed in him.

As the car pulled away, I looked out the window, feeling a mix of excitement and unease. This second chance was mine to shape, and every choice I made from here on out would define not just my future but my revenge.

Amara’s POVI was very happy the presentation went well because I had been feeling very nervous since yesterday that I couldn’t sleep properly. I walked back to where my position is at the staff office, still trying to calm my racing heart, my fingers slightly cold from the leftover tension.“Miss Amara,” the team leader called out. I turned towards him, forcing myself to stay composed. “First of all, congratulations on winning the manager over. He loved your pitch so much that he asked to work with you on it, and regarding your extra payment, we’ll—” “Wait, what…” I couldn’t let him finish, my heart skipping a beat at what I thought I just heard. “You don’t want to be paid extra?” he asked, confused, slightly frowning. “Of course I do. What did you say about the Mr Adrian thing? I don’t understand,” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady even though my mind was already spinning. “He asked about the project I gave you. I explained the condition of the company, so he offered that

Adrian’s POVIsabel had informed me about her meeting with Amara this Sunday, and I found it a bit unusual, so I decided to call her team leader to understand what was going on.When he answered, I spoke calmly, “I heard there’s a meeting tomorrow involving Miss Williams. What’s it about?”He quickly explained, “Yes, sir. The company is currently facing a situation. Milkon Tech is ahead of us, and we need a fresh innovation idea. Miss Williams is the only employee capable of handling something like this.”A small smile formed on my lips.“I see… and what exactly will happen tomorrow?”“She’ll be presenting her ideas, sir. We’re hoping to select one and begin immediately.”I didn’t hesitate.“I’ll be present for the presentation, and if it’s good enough, I’ll personally oversee the project with her till the end.”There was a brief silence before his voice turned excited.“Of course, sir! That would be a great opportunity for the company.”“Good,” I replied and ended the call.Tomorrow…

Amara's POVAfter Damian called me last night, I tried many ways to prevent him from visiting, but he insisted on coming over before going to meet Lily. I just prayed Lily would stop him from coming. The next day, I was trying to get ready to leave when my doorbell rang.“Damian…”“Hi baby,” he rushed in and kissed me like he was starved.“Stop!! What on earth are you doing?”I pushed him away, my heart filled with irritation.“What do you mean? I’m your boyfriend. Can’t I kiss my girlfriend?” he asked.I forced a smile.“Of course… just close the door, children might be passing.”He quickly did and turned to me like a hungry lion.“I’ve missed you so much.”I prayed in my heart for someone to save me from this man. I couldn’t even hide my disgust.“Damian, I haven’t showered yet, let me—”“No need,” he cut me off.“Damian, I haven’t eaten.”“We’ll order food later…”My doorbell rang again, and I was so relieved I rushed to the door. It was a delivery guy.“Are you Miss Williams?”“

Adrian’s POV I got home a little late today, and by the time I stepped into the house, exhaustion had already settled deep into my bones, making every movement feel heavier than usual, but just as I was about to relax, my phone buzzed with a message from my sister.“Guess who I’m with right now.”I frowned slightly at the message before replying shortly.“Who?”A few seconds later, she sent a picture, and the moment I opened it and saw Amara sitting there, my heart almost jumped out of my chest because I wasn’t prepared for it at all, and for a brief moment, I just stared at the screen, completely still. She looked… stunning.Even while eating, there was something effortlessly beautiful about her, something natural and unforced that made it impossible to look away, and I found myself zooming into the picture slightly without even realizing it, as if that would somehow bring me closer to her.God…She’s too beautiful.A sudden urge rose inside me, strong and overwhelming, making me wa

Amara’s POV “Miss Amara, the team leader wants to speak with you,” one of my colleagues informed me, and I slowly lifted my head from my desk, slightly surprised because I wasn’t expecting to be called, especially not at that moment when everything seemed to be going smoothly.I stood up, straightened my clothes out of habit, and made my way to Mr. Lucas’s office, wondering what it could be about, but the moment I got there and pushed the door open, I froze slightly in place because Isabella was standing there, and for a brief second, I was genuinely stunned since I hadn’t expected to see her there at all.I shifted my gaze to Mr. Lucas, giving him a confused look as my brows furrowed slightly.“Isabella, meet your supervisor,” he said casually, as if this was something completely normal, but I remained speechless for a moment because nothing about this felt expected.“I don’t understand,” I finally said, my voice calm but filled with confusion as I tried to process what was happenin

Amara’s POVI saw Damian walk out of the team leader’s office looking slightly dejected, his shoulders a little tense like something hadn’t gone the way he wanted, and just a few seconds later Lily followed behind him, but unlike him, there was a faint look of satisfaction on her face that she tried so hard to hide, yet it was still obvious to me.I narrowed my eyes slightly as I watched her.“What is this girl up to?” I wondered silently, already sensing that whatever it was, it wasn’t something simple or innocent. She didn’t come to me immediately, instead she walked straight to the bathroom, and when she came out a few minutes later, her entire expression had completely changed as she now looked pitiful and soft, like someone who had just been wronged.A small smile formed on my lips. Now I was certain. She definitely wanted something from me.I quickly lowered my head and pretended to be busy with my work just as she walked over, acting like I hadn’t noticed anything unusual about
