Chapter 4

Author: Bubbles
Over the next week, I bought a 3,200-square-foot apartment in the richest part of town and registered the mineral mine in my name.

The mine was so valuable that I now controlled a third of the werewolf world's economic lifeline. I had become the most powerful woman in the Silver Moon Pack.

Vivian's kidney transplant was also a success. To celebrate, I went to the most exclusive jewelry boutique to order her a custom set.

But at the entrance, I heard a familiar voice.

"Lilith, don't be sad. You've gotten so thin lately. It breaks my heart.

"See if you like anything here. Pick whatever you want for your birthday."

Sara and Lilith.

They had just walked in. A sales associate immediately rushed over to help them and ignored me completely.

I looked through the display cases and pointed at a green gemstone necklace. "Could you show me that one?"

The associate blinked, then looked at me as if she'd only just noticed me.

"Ma'am, I'm helping Mrs. Hale and her daughter right now. Please wait over there." Her tone was cold. "And that necklace costs one and a half million dollars. Do you still want to see it?"

Lilith and Sara had noticed me too.

Lilith stiffened and quickly hid behind Sara.

Sara frowned. "Nora, what are you doing here? Are you here to cause trouble for Lilith again?"

She looked me up and down, eyeing my plain T-shirt and jeans. "If you've run out of money, go home and apologize to your father. Don't follow us around. I can't give you anything. Your father wouldn't allow it."

The associate's face filled with contempt. "Ma'am, please leave. You're disturbing our customers..."

Before she could finish, another associate came out from the back and interrupted her. "Anyone who walks into this store is our customer, Amy. Mind your manners."

She gave Amy a warning look before smiling at me. "Ma'am, I apologize for my colleague's rudeness. My name is Helen, and I'll be happy to assist you. Would you like to see the green gemstone necklace?"

I shook my head. "Not anymore."

Amy smirked, clearly assuming I couldn't afford it. She turned and led Sara and Lilith toward the other side of the store.

But my next words made her stop cold.

"Get your chief designer here. I want a custom forest-themed jewelry set. My budget is... ten million dollars."

Amy whipped around and stared at me.

Sara's brow furrowed in disbelief. "Ten million?! Have you lost your mind, Nora? Where would you get that kind of money?!"

Helen didn't even blink. "Of course, ma'am. We require a five-million-dollar deposit for custom orders. After that, we'll arrange a design consultation."

I frowned. "That's a hassle. How long will all that take?"

Sara relaxed and shook her head. "Nora, you don't have to pretend you're rich. No one's going to laugh at you just because you can't afford custom jewelry. When did you become so vain?"

I rolled my eyes, ignored her, and took a black card from my pocket. "Forget it. Charge ten million now. Keep the rest as credit on my account. Have your chief designer come to my house when she's free."

Amy stared at the card. There were fewer than five like it in the world, and each supposedly had no spending limit. She rubbed her eyes in disbelief.

Sara froze too. "That's impossible. You can't have that much money. It must be fake. That card has to be..."

The terminal beeped. "Transaction approved. Ten million dollars!"

Sara fell silent. The sound shattered her last shred of denial.

At the same moment, the system chimed in my head.

"Host spent money like water and put Sara in her place. Mayhem Rating: four stars. Reward: one oil field!"

I raised an eyebrow. I'd just spent ten million, and the system had given me something worth many times more.

The mineral mine alone was worth three billion dollars!

My mood soared once again.

Amy's lips trembled as she realized her mistake. She had looked down on me and lost a huge client. She hurried over with a fake smile. "Ma'am, I'm so sorry. I was busy earlier and neglected you. Please let me make it up to you..."

I scoffed. "Save it. I don't need an apology from someone who only respects people with money."

With that, I walked out of the boutique.

Back in my car, I remembered what Sara had said about Lilith's birthday.

I smiled to myself.

Thanks to them, I had more than enough cards to play now.

As her older sister, I should prepare a birthday gift my little sister would never forget.

I was still watching Dr. Carter's video when someone knocked on my door.I opened it and saw Oakley outside.I raised an eyebrow. "What are you doing here? This isn't a dump."Oakley held back his anger and forced a smile. "Nora, I was wrong before. I've thought it over, and I finally realized you're the one I really care about. Can we start over? I promise I'll make you my Luna."I pressed a hand to my chest in fake surprise. "Oh my God, what could you possibly like about me? Don't tell me it's my mines!"Oakley's smile faltered."Oh, wait. It's my money, isn't it?" I smiled sweetly and patted his cheek like a dog. "Sorry, but I'm not interested in you anymore."Oakley's face darkened. "Don't push it, Nora! I'm the Alpha of the Gale Pack. With that temper and those average looks, you think you can find a better mate than me?"I crossed my arms, my smile disappearing."Jackson was an Alpha too. A few words from me put him behind bars. What makes you think you're any better?"And stop y

The report was unambiguous. Jackson was Lilith's biological father!Sara stared at the report, then turned to Jackson, trembling with rage."You lied to me! You said you'd found Lilith and brought her home. How could you do this to me?!"No wonder you kept delaying our marking ceremony. You were out there with that bitch!"Jackson looked away and stammered, unable to answer.Sara screamed and threw herself at him, pulling his hair and clothes. "Who is that bitch?! I'll kill her!"They started fighting right there in front of everyone. Matthew and Adam rushed over and tried to pull them apart.More people gathered around, eager to watch the drama.I'd seen enough. I turned and left. The system chimed in my head again."Host made the malicious brother reap what he sowed, sent the biased mother into meltdown, and exposed the greedy father's scandal. Mayhem Rating: five stars. Reward: one rare metal mine!"Later, I heard that Sara had gone straight to the Elder Council that night. Furious

"Stop it! Haven't you embarrassed this family enough?!"Jackson suddenly appeared and slapped Matthew across the face. Adam knew they couldn't make a scene here, so he quickly held Matthew back. But it was too late. The nearby reporters smelled a scandal and rushed over with their cameras. This news would be all over the place within the hour. The thought alone put me in a great mood.Too bad Lilith had gone to the Gale Pack to celebrate her birthday with Oakley. Otherwise, she could've made the headlines too.Jackson turned to me. "Nora, Matthew is your brother. Did you really have to go this far?"I crossed my arms and scoffed. "He raised the paddle and made those bids himself. I didn't force him. How is this my fault?"Matthew sputtered, "If you hadn't had people spreading those rumors to throw me off, I never would've bid that high!"My eyes went cold. "You knew I wanted the Heart of the Ocean, so you kept raising the price just to spite me. You brought this on yourself. Don't blam

A charity auction was underway in a luxurious hotel ballroom, packed with powerful figures from packs across the region."Have you heard? They're auctioning off an incredible treasure tonight.""Yeah. The legendary Heart of the Ocean.""I heard Nora came just for it.""Nora? The Silver Moon Pack Alpha's daughter? Isn't she on bad terms with her family? Can she even afford it?""Who knows? She's been throwing money around lately. Maybe she can.""I heard her say yesterday that she had to have the Heart of the Ocean. She'll pay up to two hundred million for it.""Two hundred million! Where did she get that kind of money?""Imagine if she wins and can't pay. That would be hilarious."Matthew and Adam heard every word. They exchanged a look, clearly plotting something.Soon, the auction began. The first few items were unremarkable. I ignored them. But the moment the Heart of the Ocean was brought out, I sat up straight, my eyes fixed on it.Matthew and Adam had been watching me. My reactio

I stopped and looked up.My parents and brothers were back. From Jackson's face, I could tell Matthew and Adam had already told him about the marking ceremony."Nora, I'm deeply disappointed in you! You've disgraced this family! You're staying in your room for a week to think about what you've done. You're not going anywhere!"I scoffed. "They're my legs. If I want to leave, who's going to stop me?"Jackson gritted his teeth. "If you walk out that door today, don't bother coming back. I'll act like I never had a daughter. And don't expect another cent from me!"I laughed. "Gladly. Keep your pocket change."His eyes hardened, and his voice dropped. "You may not care about yourself, but your foster mother is still waiting for surgery, isn't she?"I looked at him, unmoved. He snorted, pulled out his phone, and dialed a number. "Starting today, stop paying for Vivian's treatment..." He paused. "What?! Nora already put two million into her account?!"Matthew and Adam stared at me in shock.
