When Evelyn Hart realizes her boyfriend and stepsister have deliberately left her behind to be torn apart by the infected, she knows she has been betrayed by the two people she trusted most. But death is not the end. Evelyn wakes up three days before the apocalypse begins, with every memory of her previous life still fresh in her mind. This time, she refuses to waste a single second. A mysterious Spatial Sanctuary awakens inside her, beginning as nothing more than a tiny storage space. Unlike ordinary abilities, it can evolve. The more resources she gathers, the more powerful and expansive it becomes. With the apocalypse approaching, Evelyn quietly sells her investments, retrieves everything her enemies once stole from her, and disappears. While everyone else is still living normally, she builds a fortress beneath the city, stocking food, medicine, weapons, fuel, seeds, and everything needed to survive. Then the apocalypse arrives ahead of schedule. Her former boyfriend, Adrian Cole, is infected during the first wave and desperately seeks her help. But Evelyn remembers exactly how he repaid her kindness in her previous life. She leaves him behind. Her former stepsister, Bianca Hale, survives by joining a mysterious research organization searching for a way to control the infected. Instead of finding a cure, Bianca becomes their greatest experiment. Something inside her mutates, and something intelligent awakens. Soon, Bianca emerges as the terrifying Zombie Empress, capable of controlling and evolving the undead. As extreme weather destroys civilization, Evelyn’s Sanctuary evolves into a living underground world. But Bianca’s zombie army is evolving too. Now Evelyn must uncover the Sanctuary’s secret and face the monster her stepsister has become. Because this time, Evelyn did not return to survive the apocalypse. She returned to make sure her betrayers never survive it.

The Night They Chose Me

The first thing Evelyn Hart heard was laughter.

Not the kind that came from happiness.

It was soft, nervous laughter, the kind people made when they were standing in front of something they were afraid to face.

Then came the smell, Blood. It filled the underground parking garage so strongly that Evelyn could barely breathe.

She opened her eyes.

A weak emergency light flickered above her.

Red. Dark. Red again.

Her body lay twisted against the concrete floor, one hand pressed against her stomach. Something warm was running between her fingers.

Blood. Her blood. She tried to move.

Pain exploded through her abdomen.

A broken scream escaped her lips.

“Help me.”

Her voice was barely a whisper.

Footsteps echoed through the parking garage.

Evelyn lifted her head. Two figures were standing near the security gate.

Adrian Cole. And Bianca Hale.

Her boyfriend and Her stepsister.

The two people she had trusted more than anyone else in the world.

Adrian was holding a flashlight.

Bianca was holding the only remaining bottle of water.

Neither of them came closer. Evelyn stared at them.

“Adrian.”

He looked away.Her heart sank.

“Please.”

Bianca sighed.

“Stop making that face.” Evelyn blinked.

“What?”

“You always make that face when things don’t go your way.”

Bianca sounded irritated.

As if Evelyn was annoying her.

As if she wasn’t lying on the floor bleeding to death.

Evelyn’s eyes moved between them.

“What happened?”

Adrian finally looked at her.

There was no love in his eyes.

No concern.Nothing. Only impatience.

“You were supposed to bring the medicine.”

“I did.”

Evelyn coughed.

“I brought everything. The antibiotics. The water filters. The food. I even found the generator you wanted.”

Bianca smiled.

“You really did.” Evelyn stared at her.

“Then help me.”

Silence.

Somewhere outside the garage, something slammed into a metal door.

BOOM. Evelyn flinched.

Another impact followed. BOOM.

A low growl rolled through the darkness beyond the walls.

She had heard that sound before.

The infected.

They were coming.

“Adrian,” she whispered. “The door won’t hold.”

“I know.”

“Then help me.” He didn’t move. Evelyn dragged herself forward.

Her fingernails scraped against the concrete.

“I can’t feel my legs.” Adrian tightened his grip on the flashlight.

Bianca stepped closer to him.

Evelyn noticed something. Their hands were touching.

Not accidentally. Their fingers were intertwined.

Her breath caught.

“No.” Neither of them spoke. Evelyn shook her head.

“No.”

She looked at Adrian. Then Bianca.

“You two…”

Bianca rolled her eyes.

“Finally.” Evelyn felt something inside her break.

“You’ve been sleeping with him?”

Adrian looked uncomfortable for the first time.

Bianca didn’t.

“Yes.”

The word struck harder than any physical wound.

Evelyn laughed once.

It sounded broken.

“How long?”

Bianca shrugged.

“Almost six months.”

Six months. Evelyn’s mind went blank.

Six months of dinners.

Six months of pretending everything was normal.

Six months of Adrian kissing her goodnight before secretly crawling into Bianca’s bed.

She remembered every time she had defended him.

Every time someone told her he was acting strangely.

Every time he claimed he was too busy to answer his phone.

She had believed him, trusted him and had loved him.

And all this time, he had been sleeping with her stepsister.

“Why?”

The question came out weakly.

Adrian finally spoke.

“Because I got tired of you.”

Evelyn stared at him.

“Tired?”

“You’re always working. Always planning. Always trying to control everything.”

He paused.

“Bianca understands me.”

Evelyn’s lips trembled.

“Bianca stole my life.”

Bianca laughed.

“Don’t flatter yourself.”

She walked closer.

“You had money. A company. A beautiful apartment. A perfect reputation. Everything came easily to you.”

“My mother left me that company.”

“And you still had it.”

Bianca’s voice became colder.

“You had everything while I had to watch you live like a queen.”

Evelyn stared at her in disbelief.

“You were my sister.”

“Stepsister.”

Bianca corrected her.

“Don’t forget that.”

Another enormous crash shook the garage.

The security gate bent inward.

A hand appeared through the gap.

The fingers were black.

The nails were gone. The skin was peeling from the bones.

Evelyn screamed.

“They’re here!” Adrian grabbed Bianca.

“We have to go.” Evelyn reached toward him.

“Adrian!”

He turned.

For one brief second, Evelyn saw the man she thought she knew.

The man who had promised to protect her.

The man who had told her that no matter what happened, he would never abandon her.

Then he walked away.

“Please!”

Evelyn crawled after him.

“Don’t leave me!” Adrian stopped.

He looked back.

“I’m sorry.” But he wasn’t.

Evelyn knew it from his eyes.

He wasn’t sorry, was relieved.

Bianca grabbed his arm.

“Come on.” They ran.

The security gate collapsed.

Dozens of infected creatures poured into the garage.

Evelyn screamed as she tried to crawl away.

One of them slammed into her.Its teeth sank into her shoulder.

Pain exploded through her body.

She screamed until her throat tore.

More creatures surrounded her.

Hands grabbed her. Teeth ripped into her flesh.

Her vision blurred. Adrian and Bianca disappeared through the emergency exit.

Evelyn watched the door close.

The last thing she saw was Bianca smiling.

Then darkness swallowed her.

Evelyn woke up screaming.

She sat upright so violently that she nearly fell from the bed.

Her hands flew to her stomach.

Nothing, No wound, blood, pain.

She touched her shoulder.

Perfectly smooth.

Her breathing became faster.

She looked around.

A bedroom. Her bedroom.

The white curtains. The wooden dresser.

The painting above the bed.

The small crack in the ceiling she had complained about for months.

Evelyn froze.

“No.”

She jumped out of bed.

Her legs almost collapsed beneath her.

She ran toward the mirror.

A young woman stared back at her.

Long brown hair. Clear skin. Bright eyes.

With no wounds, scars or blood.

She touched her face.

“I’m alive.”Her voice trembled.

A memory flashed through her mind.

The garage.

Adrian. Bianca. The infected.

The teeth sinking into her shoulder.

She staggered backward.

“No.”

Her eyes fell on the digital clock.

September 23.

06:41 AM.

Evelyn stopped breathing. She knew that date.

She knew exactly what it meant.

Forty eight hours.

Forty eight hours before the world ended.

Two days before the first major outbreak.

Two days before the temperature across the western region rose beyond anything recorded in modern history.

Two days before the power grid began collapsing.

Two days before the storms arrived and before people started becoming violent.

Two days before the first infected appeared.

And in three days, the flood would swallow half the city.

Evelyn covered her mouth.

She had returned.

She had actually returned.

A strange sound suddenly rang inside her head.

Ding.

Evelyn froze.

A translucent blue screen appeared in front of her.

[Spatial Sanctuary System Activated.]

Her eyes widened.

Another line appeared.

[Host Confirmed: Evelyn Hart.]

[Current Level: 1]

[Spatial Capacity: 20 Cubic Meters]

[Time Until Apocalypse: 47 Hours, 18 Minutes, 43 Seconds]

[Current Ability: Storage]

[Special Feature: Space Growth]

[Warning: Host has insufficient survival resources.]

Evelyn stared at the screen. For several seconds, she couldn’t speak.

Then she laughed.

A strange, breathless laugh escaped her.

She had spent her entire previous life believing that money could solve everything.

Then the apocalypse came and proved her wrong.

Money meant nothing when the stores were empty.

Connections meant nothing when communication systems collapsed.

Love meant nothing when the person beside you was willing to feed you to monsters.

But now she had something different.

A space, a system. Forty eight hours.

Her expression slowly changed.

The fear remained.

The grief remained.

But something stronger began growing beneath them.

Determination.

She looked toward the bedroom door. Adrian was in the apartment.

She knew he was.

He had been staying with her for the past three months.

And Bianca was downstairs.

She had probably already started planning how to steal Evelyn’s money.

Evelyn walked toward the door.

She stopped before opening it.

A memory returned.

Adrian’s voice.

Because I got tired of you.

Bianca’s smile.

You had everything while I had to watch you live like a queen.

Evelyn’s fingers tightened around the doorknob.

In her previous life, she had confronted them immediately.

She had cried.

She had demanded answers, begged Adrian to choose her.

She had asked Bianca why she hated her.

This time would be different. She didn’t need answers.

She needed preparation.

And she needed revenge.

Evelyn opened the door. Adrian was standing in the hallway.

He was holding two cups of coffee.

The moment he saw her, his expression softened.

“Morning, sweetheart.”

Evelyn almost laughed.

Sweetheart.

The word once made her heart race.

Now it made her stomach turn.

He walked toward her.

“I brought your coffee.”

She accepted it.

“Thank you.”

Adrian smiled.

He leaned forward to kiss her.

Evelyn turned her face.

His lips landed against her cheek.

He frowned.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

She smiled.

“I didn’t sleep well.”

Adrian studied her.

“You’ve been acting strange lately.”

“Have I?”

“Yeah.”

He stepped closer.

“You’re not hiding something from me, are you?”

Evelyn looked into his eyes.

There it was.

The same face and same voice. The same man who had watched her die.

She wondered how many times he had kissed her after sleeping with Bianca.

She wondered how many lies he had told while looking directly into her eyes.

She wanted to slap him.

Instead, she smiled.

“No.”

Adrian relaxed.

“Good.”

He kissed her forehead.

“I love you.”

Evelyn almost choked.

I love you.

The lie came so naturally.

She wondered if he had practiced it.

“Are you going somewhere today?” he asked.

“Yes.”

“Where?”

“Shopping.”

“For what?”

Evelyn looked at him.

“Some things I need.”

Adrian’s eyes narrowed slightly.

“Anything expensive?”

She smiled.

“Probably.”

He laughed.

“Don’t go crazy with your card.”

There it was.

The same card he had used in her previous life.

The same money he and Bianca had slowly drained through secret purchases.

The hotel bookings. The jewelry.

The expensive dinners and luxury apartment Bianca had moved into.

Evelyn’s smile remained.

“I won’t.”

Adrian walked away.

Evelyn waited until she heard the bathroom door close.

Then her smile disappeared.

She grabbed her phone.

Her hands moved quickly.

First, she opened her bank application.

She had eight hundred and sixty thousand dollars in liquid savings.

In her previous life, she had left most of it untouched.

Not anymore.

She transferred the money into a separate emergency account.

Then she opened her investment portfolio.

Her company, Hart Renewable Logistics, was worth far more than she needed.

She had planned to expand it.

Now she would sell it.

The world would end before that expansion ever mattered.

She opened her contact list.

Her first call went to her financial lawyer.

“Mr. Hayes?”

“Ms. Hart? It’s early.”

“I need you to prepare an emergency sale of my controlling shares.”

There was silence.

“Your company?”

“Yes.”

“You’re serious?”

“Completely.”

“May I ask why?”

“No.”

She looked toward the window.

Outside, people were beginning their normal morning routines.

Cars moved along the street.

Children walked toward school.

A woman carried groceries.

A man jogged along the sidewalk.

Nobody knew and could see what was coming.

“How quickly can you do it?”

“At least two days.”

“You have twelve hours.”

“That’s impossible.”

“Then make it possible.”

She ended the call.

The system appeared again.

[Survival Preparation Detected.]

[Primary Task Updated.]

[Acquire Essential Resources.]

[Reward: Spatial Capacity Expansion.]

[Additional Mission Available.]

[Secure Safe Shelter.]

[Reward: Spatial Growth Potential.]

Evelyn stared at the last line.

Spatial Growth Potential.

Her heart began beating faster.

This wasn’t just a storage space.

It could grow.

If she survived long enough, she might be able to create something no ordinary survivor could.

A sanctuary, farm, water source.

A place where people could live. She suddenly remembered the first winter.

The cold. The bodies frozen inside abandoned houses.

The screams outside her apartment.

Then the heatwave.People fighting over bottles of water.

Then the floods and the infected.

Evelyn’s face became pale. She had only forty eight hours.

She couldn’t waste one minute.

She grabbed her keys. Before leaving, she stopped.

Something felt wrong.

The system screen flickered.

[Warning.]

[Temporal disturbance detected.]

Evelyn frowned.

“What?”

The screen disappeared.

She waited.

Nothing happened. Then her phone rang.

Unknown number.

Evelyn hesitated before answering.

“Hello?”

There was breathing on the other end.

It was Slow and Heavy.

Then a man’s voice whispered.

“You’re awake too.”

Evelyn froze.

Her blood turned cold.

“What?”

The voice continued.

“You aren’t supposed to remember.”

The call ended.

Evelyn stared at her phone. Her heart pounded.

Someone else knew. Someone else had returned.

She slowly looked toward the bathroom.

The shower was running.

Adrian was still inside.

Then another thought struck her.

If she wasn’t the only person who had memories of the future…

Who else had returned? And why did they know about her?

The system appeared once more.

This time, the blue screen was different.

[Unknown Regressor Detected.]

[Identity: Hidden.]

[Threat Level: Uncertain.]

Evelyn’s breathing became shallow.

The apocalypse was coming. But apparently, the apocalypse wasn’t the only thing she had to fear.

She slipped her phone into her pocket.

Then she smiled. A cold, determined smile.

“Fine.”

She picked up her keys.

“If someone else remembers the future, then I’ll simply have to prepare better than them.”

She opened the front door.

The morning sunlight hit her face.

For everyone else, it was an ordinary Wednesday.

For Evelyn Hart, it was the first morning of her second life.

Forty seven hours remained. And this time, she would not die for anyone.
