Chapter 3

Author: Ding
That very afternoon, Lukas publicly announced, "Isabella will be the future Luna of the Northera Pack. Her orders are my orders."

Just like that, the entire pack’s attitude shifted.

To curry favor with the future Luna, the maids began openly tormenting me.

Sand was mixed into my meals from the kitchen. My blankets were soaked with water three nights in a row until they were impossible to sleep in.

"Cecilia, are your sheets wet again? Looks like people really don't like you."

Isabella stood at the doorway with her arms crossed and a fake smile on her face.

I ignored her and silently hung the soaked blankets along the drying poles outside the stone corridor.

I knew she wanted to force me to leave the pack on my own, so I had no intention of wasting energy arguing with her.

On my way back to my room, I ran into Lukas.

He shoved me against the stone wall and grabbed me by the throat.

"Would it kill you to go one day without a werewolf?" His eyes were full of familiar mockery.

I couldn't break free, so I simply turned my face away in silence.

"Wretch," he cursed through clenched jaws. "Why are you so cheap? If you really wanted a werewolf that badly, you should've come to me."

When I still said nothing, he suddenly pinched my chin so hard that even my cheeks went numb.

"What? Is it because you know you can't have me, so you got into another werewolf's bed instead? Cecilia, since you love me this much, I'll allow you to be my mistress. But only Isabella can be my mate and future Luna. If you're fine with that, then I'll–"

I slapped his hand away. "Are you insane? I don't like you, and I definitely don't want to be your mistress. And stop talking to me like that."

He suddenly loosened his grip and gently brushed my cheek instead.

"Don't be angry. I know you like me." His tone turned affectionate. "I can't marry you, but I can spoil you. I can give you whatever you want."

I frowned. "I don't need anything from you."

His expression instantly darkened with rage. He shoved me violently to the floor.

"Drop the act! Didn't you work here as a housekeeper to seduce me? Now that you see Isabella being close to me, you're jealous and sleeping with other werewolves? Cecilia, a loose woman like you should feel honored that I even looked your way. I'll give you one last chance. Either become my mistress, or get out of this pack."

I wiped at the scrape near my mouth where I'd hit the wall. I slowly stood up and looked at him calmly. "Fine. I'll leave."

That very night, I packed my bags and prepared to leave the Northera Pack. I would return home and wait for Cain to come back.

But as I carried my luggage out of the room, Isabella suddenly appeared at the staircase and blocked my way.

"Cecilia, why do you insist on stealing my mate?"

I couldn't even be bothered to respond and turned around immediately.

Suddenly, she screamed. "Cecilia, don't!"

I turned around just in time to see her shove open the corridor window and leap from the second floor without hesitation.

The maids downstairs screamed and ran out into the courtyard. I soon heard Lukas' footsteps.

"Isabella!"

He ran over and scooped her off the ground while shouting for someone to call a healer.

Lying in his arms, Isabella spoke tearfully. "It was my fault for not being careful. Cecilia didn't push me.

"She's probably just jealous of me, Lukas. Don't blame her."

"Cecilia!" Lukas looked up at me. His voice turned cold. "Kneel!"

Two werewolf warriors in black uniforms immediately grabbed my arms and dragged me downstairs. They forced me onto my knees.

My knees slammed against the stone slabs as pain shot through them.

Lukas stared down at me coldly. "How dare you hurt my woman?"

I clenched my jaw. "It wasn't me. The entire villa has surveillance cameras. Check them and you'll know the truth."

Isabella tugged at his sleeve and said gently, "Don't blame her. She didn't mean to do it."

"Isabella, why are you still defending her? You're too kind." The anger in Lukas's eyes only intensified as he held her tighter. "But don't worry. You have me. I'll make her pay for this."

I pursed my lips bitterly.

He only believed what Isabella said. He never listened to a single explanation from me.

"Cut her face," he ordered coldly.

My head snapped up, and my pupils became constricted.

"No!" I shouted. "I didn't do anything wrong! You can't do this to me!"

Lukas sneered. "Now you're scared? It's too late."

He waved his hand. "Bring me the silver blade."

Isabella looked at me with a smile.

My entire body trembled with rage. She was the one who jumped off the building and pinned the blame on me.

Lukas picked up the silver blade and slashed it across my face.

The icy blade sliced through my skin. My body trembled from the intense pain.

Warm blood streamed down my cheek and stained the stone steps red.

"This is the price for hurting my mate." He looked down at me and spoke in a deep, cruel voice.

"Cecilia, I'm warning you. If there's a next time, you'll pay with your life."

My blood slowly turned cold, but my heart burned with hatred.

This was the same cold man from my previous life. He let other pack members ridicule us for eight long years.

He raised the knife again. "Still refusing to admit your mistake? Apologize, and I'll let you off."

I stared at him and said each word slowly, "I did nothing wrong. I will never apologize. Lukas, I hate you. I wish you were dead!"

There was a dangerous glimmer in his eyes as he raised the blade.

At that moment, footsteps echoed through the corridor, followed by a deep voice filled with undeniable authority.

"What are you doing?"

It was Cain.

He was back.

The day I delivered the pups, I held Cain's hand so tightly that there were red marks all over the back of his hand. He didn't even make a sound. He kept wiping my sweat away and soothing me with his gentle voice. Then, with two loud cries, our twins were finally born safely.Cain stared at the two tiny pups the nurse carried out. He couldn't look away for even a second. His hands shook so badly with excitement that he didn't know where to place them. After a long moment, he carefully leaned closer and gently touched our daughter's soft cheeks.Holding the two wrinkled pups in his arms, he barely moved. He stood frozen for several seconds before finally lifting his head to look at me. His eyes welled with tears."Cecilia, thank you. You've given me a complete family."I smiled as I watched him with the pups. My heart filled with peace. In this life, I managed to protect my pups, and I had finally held onto the happiness that truly belonged to me.After returning home from the h

Time passed in the blink of an eye, and soon I entered the final stage of my pregnancy.During this time, Cain personally took care of me almost every day. He refused to let anyone else handle things for him. He walked with me daily and constantly brought me little gifts."Cecilia, this is for you."Inside the velvet box was a dazzling pink diamond necklace.I glanced at it without speaking."This is the largest pink diamond in Northern Merendia. Don't you like it?"He gently picked up the necklace. He looked oddly nervous for a moment before casually slipping it back into his pocket."What kind of jewelry do you like? After the next auction, I'll have them bring it directly to you."He gently combed through my hair with careful movements. It was as if he's afraid of hurting me.Leaning against his chest, I listened to the steady beat of his heart. My fingertips brushed over the thin calluses on his wrist as I spoke softly. "I like anything you give me. Besides, I don't really

After learning I no longer wanted to see Lukas, Cain sent him away to Entagonia. To the public, it was described as a reassignment. In reality, it was an exile.I even reminded Cain to send Isabella along too. After all, in the previous life, they'd been each other's true love. This time, they should also go through the good and the bad in life together.Cain indulged me and had someone ask Isabella whether she was willing to accompany Lukas to Entagonia. In the beginning, Isabella cried and refused. In the end, I still had people forcibly send her to Landon, the capital of Entagonia.Day by day, my stomach grew larger. Cain practically canceled every unnecessary trip and stayed home with me constantly. Even the Northera Pack elder meetings were moved directly into the manor. He practiced sewing pup clothes over and over again. The stitching was crooked and awful, but he refused to let the maids touch them.Every night, he would caress my stomach and tell stories in his deep voi

Lukas had only yanked me off my feet, but it immediately triggered stress contractions in my abdomen.Without a word, Cain personally flew me to a private healer's den on mainland Canopia. His expression remained cold the entire trip, and he didn't speak at all.The attending healer was one of the best obstetric specialists among werewolves. He had decades of experience. After the examination, the healer walked out of the lounge carrying the 4D ultrasound images with a smile on his face."Congratulations, sir. It's a boy and a girl."Cain froze for several seconds before finally reacting. He took the report and carefully read every word."A boy and a girl?"He suddenly lowered his head and laughed. The next second, he pulled me tightly into his arms. His voice trembled faintly with emotion."Cecilia, you are my treasure. You are the pride of the Northera Pack."Leaning against him, I teased playfully, "Don't I deserve some kind of reward?"Cain raised a brow before pulling ou

The words on the report were clearly written.[Twins. Six weeks in.]Cain put down his wine glass. His gaze landed on the report, and he stayed silent for a long while."Is this for real?"Are these our pups? Oh my goodness! Honey, I'm overjoyed!"His usually cold expression suddenly turned gentle. His smile was impossible to hide. The next second, he picked up his phone and directly posted an announcement on the Northera Pack's official social media account.[The Northera Pack will soon welcome its next generation of heirs.]Not long after, the living room door was pushed open, and Lukas walked in.The moment he saw me, his gaze shifted to my stomach. There was an odd look on his face.I smiled and rose to my feet before lifting my champagne glass. "Lukas, perfect timing. Come celebrate the newest additions to our family, won't you?"His gaze was locked onto my stomach. He clenched his jaw hard."Cecilia!"Before he could say anything else, Cain interrupted coldly. In less than a day, every maid in the estate who had mocked me to my face was thrown out overnight. They were replaced by a new group sent by the Beta.Inside the VIP suite of a luxury jewelry store, I stared at my reflection, decked out in gold and diamonds. The entire jewelry set was worth over half a million. At the center of the necklace was a rare moonstone Cain had acquired at one of Canopia's top auctions. In my previous life, after being marked by Lukas, he'd never even been willing to buy me a cheap silver chain from a roadside vendor. Before I could dwell on those memories any longer, Lukas suddenly appeared. He glared at me viciously."You really are disgusting. Just because you're jealous that I love Isabella, you deliberately seduced my father? How could you bear sleeping with a man so much older than me?"I gently touched the scar across my face that still hadn't fully healed and smiled at him. "Your father? Hmm. He definitely lasts longer than you do."His face in
