Aria’s POV

I gasped silently, relief and shock colliding so hard it made my knees weak.

It was Derek, he didn’t notice me hidden in the corner. His gaze was fixed on my father, soft but weary. He reached down, adjusting the blanket, tucking it securely around his shoulders. His hand lingered for a moment, his fingers brushing the back of my father’s arm, almost like he was drawing strength from just touching him.

Then Derek sighed, running a hand through his hair. He stood there for a long moment, just watching, before finally turning and slipping out as quietly as he had entered and the door clicked shut.

I sagged against the wall, my whole body trembling with the release of tension. My phone wobbled in my hands, the red recording light blinking back at me.

I turned toward my father again. He was asleep.

A single tear rolled down my cheek, and I wiped it quickly before leaning toward him once more.

“I’ll protect you,” I whispered again, voice steadier now. “Even if I have to die.”

  • Reborn for the Lycan king    Who killed her and why?

Aria’s POV Her father stood frozen, his fists clenched, his lips trembling though no sound came out. His shoulders shook as if every ounce of him was collapsing inward.I couldn’t breathe.I had asked Cassia to help me. I had pulled her into this. And now she was lying dead on the floor, her parents’ grief tearing through the hall like knives and I didn’t know if it had anything to do with our plans tonight. Her mother’s tear-streaked face turned suddenly toward me. She crawled the short distance until she was at my knees, clutching at the fabric of my dress. “Luna,” she cried, “please you must find who did this. I trust you, I believe in you. Please don't let her death be for nothing.”Her desperation stabbed straight through me. My throat closed, words tangling. I placed my hands over hers, trembling. “I promise,” I whispered, though the words almost choked me. “Justice will be served. I swear it.”But inside, guilt howled in me.The investigation began almost immediately.Eros w

  • Reborn for the Lycan king    She was the only child!

Aria’s POV The words punched the air from my lungs, what?!I shook my head violently. “No—no, you have to try again! Please try again!”“I’m sorry, Luna,” he said softly. “The poison was swift. She never stood a chance.”The poison? The word rang in my ears, rattling through my bones. My eyes fell back to the mug on the floor. She was killed with a poisoned coffee? My stomach churned, images tumbled too fast in my mind. Cassia’s wide smile, her chatter about Eros, the way she’d promised to help me with Ronan. My chest squeezed until I thought I might break in half.Someone killed her, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.But who could it be?And why would they kill such an easy going person like her? Yes she talked too much, but that was it, and her talks were fun. Who could have done this… then my thoughts drifted to the last person I had seen with a cup of coffee. Ronan. He was there last night, sneaking in the shadows. He had brought me coffee himself earlier, standing

  • Reborn for the Lycan king    She’s gone!

Aria’s POV The unease sharpened. I tried the handle and it gave in easily. The room was dark, empty, the bed untouched.I stepped inside, scanning the space. No fresh clothes were missing, no sign of her apron. The lamp was still cold.“Where are you?” I muttered under my breath. “Where is cassia?”I checked the kitchens, the storage hall, even the laundry where she usually lingered just to gossip with the other maids. But she wasn’t there. The pack house was beginning to feel too quiet, too hollow. Every corridor I searched only made the hairs on my neck rise higher.By the time I circled back to the Alpha’s quarters, one thought gnawed at me so loud it was almost deafening. Cassia wasn’t the type to wander off alone. So where was she?I paced the length of the corridor, my nerves prickling. The stone floor beneath felt icy even through my boats, but the chill did nothing to cool the way I felt“Cassia?” I called again when I crossed paths with two maids carrying folded linens. But

  • Reborn for the Lycan king    Cassia is missing?!

Aria’s POV “You didn't interrupt us, not at all,” I said smoothly, though my throat was tight. “We were just talking.”Cassia bobbed her head nervously, her hands twisting in her apron. “Yes, my lord. It was just small talk.”Ronan’s smirk curved, faint, but his eyes didn’t soften. “Small talk,” he repeated, almost as if he were testing the words on his tongue. The air in the room grew thick, stifling.“Thank you for the coffee,” I said firmly, picking it up though my hands trembled. “That was kind of you.”“Anything for family,” he murmured, then lingered just a heartbeat longer than necessary before walking away. The moment the door clicked shut, I exhaled so hard my chest ached. Cassia looked at me with wide, panicked eyes.“You think he heard us?” she whispered.I pressed my lips together,“I’m not sure, but I think he didn’t else he would have confronted us about it”But suspicion clawed at me, relentless. Ronan’s sudden kindness was as chilling as a blade pressed to your back.I

  • Reborn for the Lycan king    Coffee? Or poison?

Aria’s POV “There was a time, like some months ago, when the King was poisoned.”My breath caught. “Poisoned?”She nodded quickly, her eyes wide. “Yes, but thanks to the Moon that it didn’t end his life, but it was so close to killing him. The healers said it was from his meal that someone poisoned the king’s meal. Someone wanted him dead.”My chest tightened, “And no one found out who it was?”Cassia shook her head, her hair swaying against her shoulder. “He searched and did everything he could but found no proof, it was just whispers that he heard. So he let it go, the King doesn’t like to dwell on it.”Her hands twisted in her apron, her chatter softening for once. “That’s all I know, my lady.”I leaned back slowly, her words rattling inside me. Eros was poisoned? But he never said anything about that to me. My eyes narrowed toward the window, where the sky stretched wide and unyielding. If Ronan could sneak out in the night and lie without flinching then could it be him? Cou

  • Reborn for the Lycan king    Something was off about him.

Aria’s POV Lowell entered, bowing his head respectfully. “My King, my Luna.” His tone carried weight, urgency. “I have news for you, king Eros.”Eros’s jaw tightened and his eyes flickered toward me, then back to Lowell. “Later.” He said hastily. “We’ll talk about it later.”Lowell hesitated, clearly troubled, but finally bowed again and left.Suspicion knotted tighter in my chest, “What was that about?” “Nothing you need to concern yourself with.”I hated the way he said it. Too gentle, and too dismissive.“Now you’re hiding something from me.”His gaze lingered on me for a heartbeat, unreadable, before he shook his head. “It’s not entirely like that.”“Then like how?” I pressed, because his words didn’t feel like the truth. But before I could press further, someone else entered. It was Ronan. He yawned, stretching his arms lazily, his usual easy smirk plastered across his face. “Morning,” he drawled. “I’m so exhausted.” He exhaled, still yawning. Eros’s brow lifted. “It’s jus
