Author: What’s All This
Sally Wallaker flinched when she saw me suddenly appear on camera.

"No, Kyla. The sponsor made this extra spicy just for the challenge. You won't be able to handle it."

I didn't let go. I just smiled at her. "What if I can?"

Before I could finish, my wrist was clamped in a crushing grip.

Francis Moss's hand felt like iron, squeezing so hard that it nearly broke me.

But facing the camera, he was still smiling. "Kyla, quit messing around. If you wanna try, I'll bring you some next time. Just don't disrupt Sally's stream today. It'll mess with the numbers."

When he leaned in close, his voice dropped.

"You're always accusing me of something with Sally. You keep pushing like this, even if there's nothing, you're going to make it into something. And that'll be on you."

The disgust in his eyes hit me like a blade.

Sally had been his first love. They had been apart for years.

I used to think once he chose me, he would be all in.

But everything that followed proved otherwise. He kept Sally in his heart while stringing me along, getting me to fund his streaming career.

After I died in my last life, he didn't even wait a week before marrying her.

I had even planned their wedding myself.

This time, no matter what, I wasn't letting that happen again.

I tilted my head slightly, looking up at the camera with wide, innocent eyes.

"Babe, I just want a taste. That's okay, right?"

Sally had that glamorous, seductive look. I was the soft, innocent type. From this angle, it was easy to draw sympathy.

Sure enough, the comments flooded in, telling me to go for it. Some people even started sending me gifts by name.

Watching the viewer count climb, Francis had no choice but to agree.

Still, as he stepped away, he leaned in and warned me not to say anything stupid.

It had been the same in my last life. Sally would eat piles of spicy food on a stream, saying it tasted like candy.

Meanwhile, my stomach felt like it was being torn apart.

When I was rushed to the hospital, the doctor said it was from eating too much spicy food; he even warned me not to push my luck just because I was young.

After that, I never touched anything spicy again.

But every time Sally went live, as soon as she started eating, the pain would hit me out of nowhere. I would pass out and end up in the ER.

Because I was Francis's fiancée, they would call him in every time.

He would have to cut his stream short.

The strange part was that once their stream stopped, my pain would slowly fade.

That was when I realized Sally wasn't actually immune to spice. The heat she ate got transferred to me a hundredfold. What she felt was reduced to almost nothing.

I tried to get Francis to stop her from streaming, but he thought I had lost my mind. He nearly had me locked up, saying I was just jealous.

Then he personally signed her up for the national spicy eating championship.

She ate ten pounds of ghost peppers without a scratch and won first place.

Meanwhile, I died from a ruptured stomach.

So this time, I was taking the first bite.

I needed to know. If I went first, would the pain transfer to her instead?

Before Sally could say another word, I shoved a mouthful of extra-spicy wings into my mouth.

The heat exploded instantly, sharp and suffocating. I frowned without meaning to.

The comments blew up, calling me reckless. People around us started laughing out loud.

"Where did this woman come from? She's asking for it."

"I've been watching Sally since day one. She can handle spice for real. This girl's just embarrassing herself."

"Didn't you hear? She's jealous of her boyfriend streaming with Sally."

"If I were him, I'd have dumped her already. That kind of jealousy is insane."

I ignored all of it, my eyes locked on Sally.

However, she didn't react at all.

Meanwhile, the fire burned from my mouth straight down to my stomach. There was no reduction, no transfer.

Was I really not going to escape dying the same way again?

The moment I swallowed, Sally's eyes snapped wide open. The sound that tore out of her throat didn't even sound human. It was raw and animal-like. The pain had dragged her back awake. She finally broke. "Stop… Please… Don't eat anymore… I'll do anything you want. Just stop."I didn't hesitate. I held out my hand. "Give it to me."Francis nodded and started walking toward me.The next second, he grabbed a chair and brought it down on my head.I never saw it coming. Everything went black.-When I came to, I was tied to a dining chair. All the hot sauce and liquor had been thrown out.Sally must've taken something, because her face didn't look as bad as before. She sat across from me, legs crossed, calm again."Kyla, you can't beat me. No matter when, no matter what, you'll end up dying by my hand. I used to be kind. I even gave you six months to live, but you just had to push me. Now, I'll send you straight to hell."She lifted her hand. On her palm was that familiar symbol.

Sally was dragged inside, her clothes stained with blood.Francis looked even more disgusted. "How the hell are you coughing up that much paint?""I…"Sally froze, as if she had just realized she could speak again. It had been about ten minutes since I had stopped eating spicy food. The pain in her body had already eased."That's not paint. It's blood. Why won't you believe me? I told you this afternoon. In the past, I…"She caught herself mid-sentence when she noticed me watching. She and Francis exchanged a look, then both fell silent.I let out a quiet laugh, staring straight at them. I could see the calculation in both their eyes."I know exactly what you're thinking. And I know why every time Sally ate something spicy, it ended up hitting me a hundred times harder."Sally's first instinct was denial. "I have no idea what you're talking about."I pulled out a jar of chili paste and a bottle of strong liquor from behind me. "You wanna try coughing up blood again? Whether I

When Francis and Sally walked in and saw me sitting in the living room eating, their expressions fell.Francis stormed over, anger written all over his face. "Do you even know what's going on right now? And you're just sitting here, eating? Do you have any idea how much I lost this time? Six million dollars! The company's on the verge of collapsing, and you're still in the mood to eat?"I calmly finished the last bite of my spicy buffalo wings, then took a sip of liquor before answering him."I'm the one who invested in the company. If I'm not worried, why are you, an employee, freaking out? Stop barking in my ear."His face flushed red. "What the hell did you just say?"Before I could respond, Sally suddenly cried out."Francis! It hurts!"She clutched her stomach and dropped to a crouch, then started coughing up blood again. It splattered across the white rug I had placed by the door.I shot to my feet and walked over. "If you're going to throw up blood, at least go to the

I had never seen Francis this anxious over anyone's condition. The stress had gotten so bad that there were sores at the corners of his mouth. • Reborn to Break the Curse   Chapter 4

"Sally has eaten a large amount of extremely spicy food and shows signs of chronic gastritis. She shouldn't be consuming this much spice at once. Kyla's stomach is empty, and everything looks normal. Gastro and neurological exams are both clear."My heart sank. She had actually managed to make it so nothing showed up on my tests. But then, why did hers clearly show she had eaten spicy food? That didn't make sense.Unless… She wasn't just transferring the heat. Maybe she could transfer physical conditions, too.I was about to question her when Francis cut me off, his tone sharp. He pulled off my engagement ring. "We're done! I'll have my assistant put out a ban. You're not allowed anywhere near the company or our streaming locations again."No. We couldn't break up.If we did, I would lose any chance of uncovering the truth.Under Sally's mocking gaze, I forced myself to back down and admit I was just jealous."Francis, I know I messed up. Can we not break up? I…"He shook m
