(ISOLDE)

Dawn spilled soft golden light over the Alpha house. Servants hurried busily back and forth, loading suitcases and travel supplies onto the pack’s official car my mum would be traveling on.

The day I'd been dreading has officially arrived.

I was standing by the car, still clinging to my mother and maintaining my pitiful act, when Benita arrived. She was right on time, dressed neatly in formal travel attire, her expression calm, polite, and perfectly composed.

“Luna,” she bowed sligh

  • Reborn to Ruin the Alpha Who Betrayed Me   Chapter 30

(ISOLDE)Every pair of eyes in the room was still locked on me, buzzing with shock, judgment, and unspoken questions. The entire pack had watched me publicly reject Bryan, the future Alpha successor, and choose someone from an outside pack instead. Even openly going against my father before everyone this way was something I’d never done. They all stared at me like I’d lost my mind. Before the crowd could settle, Freya pushed through, stepping forward her expression carefully molded into one of soft, concerned disbelief. She didn’t look angry or vengeful. She looked like a worried best friend. She stopped right in front of me, her tone gentle but pointed.“Isolde, I honestly don’t know what to say. I knew things between you and Bryan weren’t perfect, but I never imagined you’d let things go this far.”I stared at her calmly.“Let what go this far?”Freya glanced around at the listening pack members, her voice lowering like she hated to say it out loud.“You and Bryan were betrothed.

(ISOLDE)I walked forward and took my place among the other females. The official stood at the center of the event hall, his voice loud and clear for everyone to hear. The crowd settled into quiet anticipation.I glanced around. My father sat in the front row, watching me closely. There was pure satisfaction on his face. He was fully convinced I would choose Bryan tonight.Bryan stood a few feet away from me, tall and confident. He kept glancing over in my direction, smiling like everything was already settled. Kairos stood further back. He was quiet, reserved, and completely unreadable. He didn’t even bother to look at me once. The official began speaking.“Tonight, under the light of the Moon Goddess, those who have reached this moment will declare their choices before their families and the pack. Let your decisions be made with conviction, remember you cannot take it back. You can’t take it back . That was exactly what I wanted to hear.I stood, patiently waiting to be called. Th

(ISOLDE)I stood in front of my bedroom mirror, fixing the straps of my golden dress. This was the exact dress Kairos and I had picked out together during our shopping trip. As I smoothed the fabric down my sides, my mind instantly flashed back to the day at the gift store.I could still see the hurt look on Kairos’s face when I told him Bryan was my mate.It was a look I couldn’t shake off. Like I’d taken something precious away from him on purpose.I stared at my own reflection, guilt settling heavy in my chest. I knew why I did it. I pushed Kairos away to keep my father suspicious-free. I did it to protect him and my plans before I was ready to reveal them.I mumbled quietly to myself.“I had my reasons, Kairos. I only hope you’d understand me,”I mumbled to myself.Turning around, I picked up the small wrapped gift I’d bought for him. I twisted it around in my hands slowly, wondering if he would even accept it after what happened. I mean I basically embarrassed him in the worst wa

(ISOLDE)The second Kairos walked out of the store, Bryan stepped forward instantly, like he’d been waiting for the perfect moment.A relieved, triumphant look was etched on his face.“You finally came to your senses.”He raised his hand, reaching out to touch my arm, but I stepped backward, putting distance between us. No way was I letting him get comfortable with me again.“We’re not officially mated yet, Bryan,” I said calmly, my voice clear enough for the students lingering nearby to hear. “I still have every right to choose someone else during the Claiming Moon Ceremony.”Bryan froze, his confident expression dropping fast.“You wouldn’t do that,” he stared at me, tone tight and disbelieving. Before he could push further, Freya cut in, all her earlier tears completely dried up. She stepped forward with a sharp, accusatory look.“Isolde, Bryan has done nothing but try his hardest to make you happy. Why do you keep pushing him away like this? He’s always good to you.”I turned my

(ISOLDE)Loud cheers exploded the second the teacher finished the announcement. The whole class jumped up from their seats, voices overlapping as everyone scrambled to grab their bags. All the talk was about the Claiming Moon Ceremony. The earlier tension over that fake chat screenshot vanished completely, no one cared about that post anymore.I reached down for my bag, wanting to leave with everyone else. But before my fingers could touch the strap, Kairos grabbed it first, lifting it off the desk.I blinked up at him.“What are you doing?”He looked at me like I was forgetting something but I stared back at him blankly.“Remember? We’re going out together today,” he said.I rolled my eyes.“I hadn’t forgotten.”He gave me a yeah I know look.“It didn’t look like it. You looked ready to grab your bag and head straight home.”I immediately raised an eyebrow. I clearly never forgot, in fact I’d had it in mind since he mentioned it and couldn’t stop trying to figure out where on earth h

(ISOLDE)I showed up at school early the next morning. I’d found my way to my room after my testimony, had a little nap before getting ready for school. The first thing I noticed upon arriving at my class was the empty seats. Freya and Bryan were absent.I wasn’t surprised at all. After last night’s massive viral scandal that took over the entire Were Empire, Freya was definitely too embarrassed and ashamed to show her face on campus. She couldn’t handle everyone staring, whispering, pitying or judging her for her mum’s mistakes. I exhaled softly, stepping into the classroom. For once, I thought I’d get peace. I smiled thinking I’d have a normal schooled day just like every other student today that these two were absent. But I’ve never been more wrong. The second I walked through the doorway, every eye in the room snapped straight to me. Whispers broke out instantly.Students leaned toward each other, murmuring and pointing straight at me. Some stared with clear dislike. A few even
