“Check your account ms hart, we’ve successfully shifted all the funds back to you.” Micheal said from the other end of the phone.

I took a deep breath, finally that part was over, now I had to strike the final blow

The drive to trust groups was unusually fast, I guess cause I no longer want to be in that space.

“just a little more time and I would no longer have to come here.” I reassured myself.

I was about walking into the boardroom when them.

They were having a little meeting without me obviously.

“If she thinks i’m going to give her some kind of reward when we get our profit, she must be joking.one of the board members said and everyone started laughing.

“Oh I plan on kicking her out of the company soon” I heard Blake say

I simply smirked and walked in

I was already looking for an escape plan but they made this so easy for me.

All I needed to do now was put on a little act and voila.

They didn’t seem to notice and continued their plot nevertheless

“ I put in so much time and effort into this company and you plan on kicking me out of my own company, why” i feigned sadness

They all froze, looking at me like they had seen a ghost

Blake was the first to recover. He leaned back in his chair slowly, fingers tapping on the table, that smug look settling on his face like armor

How long have you been standing there? He asked

“Long enough” i said

The board members shifted in thier seats uncomfortably

Blake looked at me arongantly.

“Okay fine, you heard what you heard, I said what I said, what are you looking for, an apology?”

He stood up and walked towards me.

“You ain’t special, everything you have is because of me, and with a snap of a finger I’ll take them all from you”

He smirked looking at me with arrogance filled in his eyes.

Monique suddenly walked in and walked straight into his arms,and he kissed her and she smiled.

I stood there feigning shock and anger

“Have I ever done anything wrong to you Blake, all my life i have loved you, given you everything you need, I bought us a house, I got you a car, I built this company with my sweat, blood and money, and this is what I get in the end, Betrayal?.”

I stood there trying to muster up all the tears i could gather

Blake laughed

“You did this and that, you did it because you were too gullible to think I would ever love you, you’re just a lapdog to me, Monique is the one I truly love.

I stood there looking at both of them, wondering how my past self was so foolish ans gullible to fall in love with a lunatic like this.

“I guess I was stupid enough to believe you could love me, but that’s fine, I’m not going anywhere though, I’m still a part of this company, so I’m not leaving.”

I said while silently praying they all make up their mind to throw me out.

“ sweetie you no longer own any share here, you signed everything over did you forget” Monique stood there gloating

“ i…. I signed because you both told me it was temporary and I was gonna get my shares back with interest, so what’s going on?.”

Blake scoffed. “ And you believed that?”

Laughter followed. Low. Cruel.

One of the board members leaned back. She really thought she still mattered”

Another shook his head. “That’s embarrassing “

I lowered my head. My shoulders slumped. I let my hands shake.

Gotta admit, I never saw this one coming, but I was glad nevertheless.

Monique stepped closer, towering over me. “ I’ll make sure to take every single thing that belongs to you”

I looked up at her slowly and smirked. “ you really think so?”

For a minute there, I thought I saw a flash of fear and confusion on her but she quickly switched it back to gloating.

“You’re out” Blake finally hit me with the line i had been waiting for.

“Pack your things” security will escort you out.”

“And please vacate the house too.” He continued

I turned and headed towards the door, without sparing them another glance, I exited the building.

Finally I was free, I haven’t felt this happy in a very long time.

I drove away from trust groups without looking back, straight to my father’s company.

That evening i sat in my father’s company, staring at the city’s light from the window while also going through reports

Everything trust groups was not.

My assistant knocked lightly and stepped in.”Ms. Hart, Mr thornfield is here to see you.

“Please let him.”

She nodded and let him

Seconds later he walked in with an aura that was soaring through the roof

Micheal thornfield, the man he was, always calm, collected, always neatly dressed.

His eyes met mine and softened instantly, like he could already tell how heavy the day had been.

“You look…. relieved,”he said, shutting the door behind him.

I scoffed lightly. ”That obvious?”

He smiled and walked closer, stopping just a few feet’s away from my desk.

“I’m glad you’ve finally done with that mess, it’s only a matter of time before they start getting the consequences of thier actions.”

I leaned back in my chair exhaling. “ I honestly never thought they would kick me out that easily, I guess I underestimated them, I’m just glad I acted before that happened.”

“Thank you Mr thornfield, you really helped me, please tell me how I can compensate you, I’d gladly pay any amount.”

Micheal frowned a little, but it was enough to make my heart melt.

“ I’m only glad you’ve finally achieved your goal, even though, I don’t know why you wanted revenge so bad, but I’m not gonna pry.”

“You can compensate me by letting me take you to dinner” he said.

“Oh no, she’s not going anywhere with you” a voice came in through my door.
