Author's POV

Without thinking, Reid followed her.

Mary's fingers trembled as she dialed her phone and pressed it to her ear while scanning the road for a cab.

"Mr. Xim, please come quickly," she urged.

"I’m sorry, ma’am," the driver said apologetically. "The tire is punctured. I need time to fix it."

She clenched her jaw in frustration. She didn’t have time and her heart kept pounding in her chest as she rushed toward the road to wave at passing cabs. But none stopped.

As she turned to g

Mary's POV My body was still frozen with tears burning my cheeks as I replayed his words in my head. Everytime it hurt more than the previous. Danny stood there with his face twisted in irritation instead of guilt and shame that I expected. He was just irritated like I was the one who had done something wrong. "Mary!" he snapped. I wiped my face with my hands trembling. "Aren’t you ashamed?" I asked with a raw and broken voice. "You are a remorseless betrayer, Danny." He crossed his arms and tightened his jaw. "It’s not that simple." I let out a hollow laugh. "Oh, really? Then explain it to me. Make me understand how you come to the conclusion that I am the devil." He didn’t even flinch. "Though, I didn’t plan for you to find out like this." "Find out like this?" My voice cracked. "You weren’t going to tell me at all, were you?" He didn’t answer and it hurt me more than anything. I forced myself to stand on my weak legs. "Are you planning to kill me, Danny?" He sighed and

Mary's POV I had called him over twelve times. There was no answer. What could possibly be the reason behind his absence? I had planned so much for us today and he messed it up. I took a cab home with my stomach in knots. I felt so bad about everything I wanted to tell him. Now, I just felt sick. I dragged myself out of the cab weakly as my excitement had now turned to anger and a hint of worry. Inside the house, it was so dark when I walked in, and it was also quiet, too quiet. Then I saw it. There was a piece of clothing on the floor. It was a lacy red bra that wasn't mine. My heart stopped as I didn’t use to wear red lace, I never had any. My hands shook as I bent down to pick it up. The fabric was soft and it looked expensive and familiar It was Donna’s. I remembered Danny buying her the set for her birthday, but what could it possibly be doing here? My stomach twisted. I dropped the bra as if it was burning were My chest was so tight that I could barely breathe. It

Mary's POV Three years later. Tonight was our two year anniversary, Danny and I. It had been three years and a lot had happened. Rodney had gotten married to Amy and Reid had enrolled Layla into an international school in Europe. Reid wanted us to get back together but I couldn't. He was now a ruthless billionaire, he was no longer the Reid I had always known. Their family was brutal and he was the one spearheading all the underhanded tactics. However, Donna had been destroyed and she had parted ways with Danny. Mr. Cale had committed suicide and Danny was only hanging by a thread. To be honest, I was still in love with him. So, I chose him and gave him everything I had. We reignited our love and it was two years today. I had planned everything perfectly. I booked a dinner at Lahorz, the most exclusive restaurant in the city. That was the place where I wanted to tell Danny the truth. The truth I had been hiding for years. I didn't give him all my shares and now I would be maki

Author's POV Rodney picked Amy up from the airport himself. By the time they arrived at his restaurant, it was already evening and lights had started glowing warmly against the grand exterior. Amy turned slowly as she took everything in. "As an architect," she said softly, "this is breathtaking. The symmetry, the height and the detailing. It feels like stepping into another world. Rodney smiled pleasingly. "I wanted it to feel timeless. Amy couldn’t stop admiring the structure but suddenly her attention shifted. Across the table, Rodney was on his phone, discussing a deal he was about to finalize. His tone was calm, authoritative and confident. Amy found herself studying him instead. Rodney felt her gaze and glanced up. For a brief second, his breath hitched. Under the warm lighting, she looked radiant. Despite being travel-worn, she was effortlessly beautiful. He quickly ended the call. "So?" he asked while leaning back slightly. "How is it?" "It’s beautiful," she admi

Mary's POV The television screens kept flashing the same headline. Reid Brown, heir to the Brown empire, signs a historic deal with Damian Motors. News anchors praised him as he stepped formally into the global automotive world. Analysts called him one of the youngest and wealthiest business leaders of his generation. And it was just the first time Reid Brown had appeared publicly as the true face of the empire. Clips replayed from Mr. Philip's anniversary gala showed how Reid stood tall beside his fiancée while cameras kept flashing endlessly. His fiancée, an A-list celebrity actress from a distinguished family, carried herself with effortless grace. Despite being born into prestige, she was known for her humility and warmth. The media adored her and both of them were described as the perfect power couple. In my quiet office, I stared at the screen. The applause. The admiration. A bright future awaits him. I felt nothing but a hollow ache. Maybe I had made the right decisio

Mary's POV Sitting beside Layla’s hospital bed, I gently brushed my fingers through my daughter’s hair as the steady beep of the monitor filled the room. Fear still clung to my chest, but something heavier pressed on my heart. How could I ever tell Reid the truth? He was engaged and he was building a new life, one that didn’t include me. This was the secret I had carried alone for years. I had already caused enough damage in his life. The last thing I would do was to destroy his happiness with a truth that would surely be a burden. I closed my eyes briefly as I was now torn between guilt and longing. The past was no longer willing to stay buried. A week had already passed after the Philip's party and Layla was healthy again. Life slowly returned to normal at least on the surface. But inside, I couldn't feel normal. Guilt followed me everywhere. I moved through my days distracted with forced smiles. My eyes carried a quiet sadness that no one seemed to notice. It felt as if I h
