Chapter 23

Gretchen

I was woken up by a clicking noise. I opened my eyes and saw Ratchet standing in front of me with his phone in his hand. He must have taken a picture of us. I took a second to survey my surroundings and noticed I was on the couch in Speed’s living room. Her feet were laying across my lap. I looked over and saw Brick on the other end of the couch sleeping with Speed’s head in his lap. The last thing I remember is Speed laying down on us while we watched a movie. We must have fallen asleep waiting for Ratchet to get home. 

“ What time is it?” I ask Ratchet. He turned his phone around for me to see it was eight-thirty in the morning.  I carefully slid out from under Speed, stood up, and placed her feet back on the couch. She wiggled a little more towards Brick but didn’t wake. I stretched myself out before grabb
