KIERAN

She nodded, then leaned forward to rest her forehead against my chest. "For now."

I wrapped my arms around her, holding her tight against me while she caught her breath. Outside her window, I could hear students still talking about what had happened. About Annalise and the gym and all the theories flying around about who might be next.

But in here, for these few stolen minutes, none of that existed. There was just Rae in my arms, warm and alive and safe. Just the taste of her still on my lips and the way her scent wrapped around us both like a cocoon.

"Thank you," she whispered against my chest.

"For what?"

"For not letting me do something stupid I guess."

I pressed a kiss to the top of her head, breathing in the smell of her shampoo. "You're welcome. But next time, maybe we could skip the part where you accuse me of murder?"

She laughed, a small sound that was half humor and half hysteria. "Deal."

I held Rae for another few minutes, feeling her breathing slow against my chest.

MIYORIThe sentinel's voice cut through my thoughts like a blade I hadn't seen coming."Headmistress, the parents are here."I looked up from the report I'd been pretending to read for the last twenty minutes. My office felt smaller than usual. The walls were closing in. Or maybe that was just the pain still radiating from the claw marks on my back."How many?" I asked."Thirty-seven so far. More arriving by the minute."Fuck.I stood up slowly, trying not to wince as the movement pulled at my injuries. The healing process for wounds inflicted in the dream realm was always slower. More complicated. The fact that whatever had attacked me in Rae Vale's subconscious had left physical marks on my body was still something I didn't want to think about too hard."Tell them I'll address them shortly," I said. "But first, I need you to do something for me."The sentinel waited. He was one of the older ones. Gray at the temples, steady hands. The kind of guard who didn't ask questions when orde

CONRADThe question hit me like ice water."He'll survive," I said quickly. "He comes from money. His family will get him good lawyers. Cozy up with fucking royals. He'll be fine. A few months of questioning, maybe some community service. They can't prove he actually killed anyone because he didn't. The evidence will fall apart eventually and it will be too late to learn anything new. The Whitmores will pay Annalise’s mother something worth her time and everyone fucking forgets and lets it go.""But you're framing him," Seraphina said. "You're making him take the blame for what you did. You are rich too.""My father is rich!” I yelled back, immediately, scractching at my face. “There is a fucking difference.”“Plus, he can handle it," I insisted. My voice sounded desperate even to my own ears. "He's strong. He'll survive this. He will. I am just an Omega. This world would eat me alive for protecting myself."They both tilted their heads in that synchronized way that made my skin craw

CONRADI sat on the edge of my bed, staring at the wall. My hands wouldn't stop shaking. The moonlight coming through my window made shadows that moved wrong, like they were reaching for me.Marcus Whitmore should be in custody by now. Miyori should have arrested him hours ago. I'd given her everything she needed. The packaging. The money. The connection to Annalise. It was perfect. It should have worked. But it didn't.She hadn't made the arrest. Which meant she didn't believe me. Or worse, she believed some of it but not all of it. She was waiting. Watching. Testing.Did she suspect me?My stomach twisted. I pressed my palms against my knees, trying to stop the trembling. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. Annalise's death should have closed the door. Two horrible accidents. Two troubled girls who couldn't handle the pressure. End of story.Instead, Luca had kicked that door wide open and now Miyori was looking through it with those sharp violet eyes that saw too much.I needed

CASSIANThe word hung between us like a confession. Mate. She'd said it so quietly I almost thought I'd imagined it, but the way her eyes searched mine told me I hadn't."Mates," I repeated, and I hated how unsteady my voice sounded. "You and I. We're mates…"My mind was racing, trying to reconcile what she was saying with everything I knew about my nature. Incubi didn't have mates. We were creatures of desire and hunger, not destined bonds and cosmic connections. The very idea was absurd.Except it wasn't. Not completely.I thought about the way my chest tightened every time I saw her. The way her scent made my unholy heart sing. The absolute certainty that I would burn the world down to keep her safe. I'd told myself it was because she was Elena reborn, because I owed her that much. Because I cared that much. But what if it was something more? What if fate had finally decided to give me something I'd never thought to ask for?"How long have you known?" I asked."Since the moment I w

RAEThe words hung in the air between us like a blade waiting to fall. I could see the confusion flicker across Cassian's face, then something darker. Disappointment, maybe. Or hurt."I do not think I want a soul tie, Cassian."His hands went still on mine, and I felt the warmth start to drain from his touch. The silence stretched until I thought I might suffocate under the weight of it."Why?" The word came out flat, but I could hear the underlying tension. "Is it the risk? Because I can protect you better this way. I can make sure nothing happens to you again."I pulled my hands free and wrapped my arms around myself. The office suddenly felt too small, too intimate. I needed space to think, to figure out how to explain something I didn't even fully understand myself."It's not about the risk," I said, though that was only partially true. The thought of tying my life force to someone else's, of dying if they died, was terrifying. But that wasn't the real reason I'd said no.The real

CASSIANI could see the hesitation in her eyes, the way she was weighing whether to trust me with something important. When she finally spoke, her voice was barely above a whisper."I did have a dream. A dream about Elena... and you."The words hit me like a physical blow. My heart stopped beating for a moment, then started again with painful intensity. I leaned forward in my chair, every muscle in my body tense."Tell me exactly what you saw. Every detail. Please."Rae took a shaky breath and began describing the dream. The stone room. The candle. The rope around her wrists. Her family calling her sick and wicked for seeing spirits. The shadows that emerged from the walls, offering her power in exchange for her soul. But it was when she got to the part about calling out for help, for anyone who would understand her, that my chest began to ache. I remembered that night. I remembered feeling her desperation across the veil between our worlds, the pure loneliness that had reached out li
