CHAPTER 2: A wrong decision

POV: Darrel William.

I never knew that watching TV could bring so much pain and sadness. And so much Anticipation,Longing for someone.

I was sitting in my living room after a long day of work when I turned on the news. Just like any other day, I was expecting to hear stories about politics, weather, and maybe even some human-interest pieces.

“Here we have seated with us, the brave investigative Journalist, who assisted in bursting the crime ring that the Anthony family has been terrorising New York for 30 years. Let’s welcome, Ivory Wells.” I heard as I sat on the chair in front of the TV. Ivory walked into the arena, her smile bright.

A smile that I had missed for years. Seven years. Seven years had passed since I had set eyes physically on Ivory. Not ever since I angrily banished her from the pack, years ago.

She was different, very different from the 18 year old Ivory I had known, fallen in love with and chased away.

The girl who had once been reserved and quiet was now bold and confident, and I swallowed hard.

Ivory was being interviewed about her involvement in busting the Anthony family's crime ring. As I watched her speak, I was amazed at how composed she seemed. She recounted the events of the investigation with precision, describing how she had used her skills to gather crucial evidence that had ultimately led to the Anthony family's downfall.

The interviewer asked Ivory about the challenges she faced during the investigation, and she didn't hesitate to recount them. “I remember getting into a bit of an issue when I my disguise was fund out. I was chased almost round the whole New York, by Jame’s Anthony’s goons. Not only that, they bugged my house and crated away hours of works I had put into the investigation. They thought they had me. But I ran.” She said and the people on the show chuckled. Her wide smile made its way to my heart.

Just like the way it had made its way when I was younger.

The interviewer asked Ivory how she managed to gather the evidence without risking her safety. Ivory responded with a smile, "I had help from some friends who were willing to take a risk for the greater good."

Her face glowed with Pride, as she spoke.

As the interview came to an end, the interviewer turned to Ivory and asked, "What message do you have for other young women who may be facing similar challenges?"

Ivory took a deep breath and spoke directly into the camera. " When Life throws Lemons at you, make Lemonade with them. You know,I had a bit of tough Adolescent life.” She said and paused, swallowing hard, her eyes forming tears. I could see them. “But I moved past it, and here I am today. Don't be afraid to speak up and take action. Your voice matters, and your actions can make a difference. It's not easy, but it's worth it.” She said with a small smile.

“And that’s a wrap on, Only The Brave Ones Seek Justice, today, I’m guessing you had much fun with the New Justice seeker, Miss Ivory. Do join us again tomorrow at Six pm and I will see you on the flip side.” The anchor said and the show ended.

As I sat in my dimly lit office, surrounded by files and paperwork, my mind couldn't help but wander to the werewolf spy I had kept in the human world. His words echoed in my head as I recalled our last conversation, where he had informed me of Ivory's dangerous investigations.

I couldn't help but feel a wave of concern wash over me as I thought about the danger that Ivory was putting herself in with her investigative work. She was a talented journalist, with an uncanny ability to get to the heart of a story, but sometimes that came at a cost.

I remembered the unease I had felt when the werewolf spy had told me the details of Ivory's current investigation. She had been digging into a dark and dangerous crime that involved human mob bosses, and a bomb had been set in her car, if not that she had been warned Prior, she’d have lost her life.

And her silence. I stared at the copies of Letters I had sent her over the past year, with No reply from her. I sighed angrily and exasperatedly. I didn’t understand the silent treatment she was giving me, even though I know she has the right to be extremely angry at me.

Deep down I had wanted to tell her the truth. Behind the real reason why I had expelled her. Since she was Wolfless, and there was Crisis within the werewolf world, it was needed that I expelled her from my pack, to maintain the peace and the balance. I knew that he wasn’t capable of hurting anybody, hell, I knew Jenna hadupdet her that night and that she didn’t mean to push her down the stairs. I just had to do what was needed for my pack and I.

I watched as Jeremy, sat on the chair beside me, watching from my Tablet as Ivory came up the screen for a News report. I watched as Jeremy jotted down Ivory’s name and information, and silently walked away. Jeremy was my son, even though I had no idea who his mother was. I abdndoned my work and followed him silently, watching from his peephole. He walked to his laptop, pressed in some buttons and checked his savings Jar and I understood what he was doing.

He was going to find Ivory. I texted my Beta, Hardin and he came inside my study.

“Get ready. You’ll be making a Journey into the human world with Jeremy.” I said and Hardin stared at me.

“To do what?” He asked with his eyebrows raised up.

“To find Ivory Wells. And when you find her, protect Her and Jeremy as well. With your life.” I said.
