Damien's POV
I gazed upon my Beta as though offended that he had even asked the question. Of course I had a plan, I always did. I tried to be one step ahead in every situation. It was how I had sustained the Blood Moon pack and had transformed it into one of the most powerful packs in the world.
“Of course, I do,” I replied my Beta with a mischievous glint in my eye. I had a foolproof plan and nothing was going to make it fail.
“You really want to make me ask?” asked Austin, my Beta teasingly.
I laughed and replied, “what fun will I have, if I don't make you ask?”
“Fine, do you care to share your plan?” he asked me.
My lips stretched into a smile as I thought about the best way to present my plan to my Beta. Austin always had my back no matter what and he was the only person who had the guts to call my bluff. It meant that if I did not present my plan in a logical manner, he was going to see all the flaws I had not thought of and he would let me know unapologetically that my plan would not work. It was one of the things I liked and disliked at the same time about my Beta. However, Austin was more than my Beta, he was my partner in crime and he always had my back irrespective of the situation.
“Alpha Simeon is weak right now,” I began, “I intend to take advantage of that.”
“That sounds typical and you are mistaken, Damien. Alpha Simeon is not weak. You are not thinking of challenging him to a duel, are you? That would be a mistake,” there was warning in his voice but I did not think it was necessary.
“I defeated him the last time we fought. I had his head under my feet, remember?” I was undoubtedly stronger than Alpha Simeon. However, the expression on Austin's face told me that I was greatly mistaken.
“You think he's stronger than I am?” I could not believe that Austin would doubt my superior strength.
“Alpha Simeon is a very strong man, Damien. You may not have the upper hand if you challenge him to a duel,” came Austin's response. The temerity of his voice told me that he meant what he was saying. It made me wonder if I had lost strength? Or perchance there was something Austin had observed from watching me fight lately that he had come to that conclusion?
“What have you seen, Austin? Why do you think he may have the upper hand?” it bothered me that my Beta would think this way. I wanted to know why he thought there was a possibility I could lose to Alpha Simeon in a duel. I knew that my Beta never said anything except there was good cause for it.
“I watched you two fight and if he had not been distracted, you may not have won so easily,” he gave me his honest assessment of the situation. I believed him even if I did not like what he was saying. It meant only thing—that I had to resume training again.
“You really think that?” I asked again just to be sure.
“Yes but you have the upper hand because your people are strong. He may be as strong as you are but his army? compared to yours? is quite laughable,” was his response.
“It is a good thing my plan does not involve a duel then,” I said to him.
“So you will battle him again?”
“He started the last conflict, that is not my fault. He got what he asked for,” I defended myself.
“What is your plan, Damien?”
“Another pack will battle him. I will instigate this, of course and then I will step in to help him,” I surmised the plan to Austin who did not look convinced that it would work but the fact that he had not said anything yet meant that he was patiently waiting for me to be done explaining my intentions so he could give me his objective opinion.
“I will make a deal with him. I will get my son and Olivia in exchange for helping him fight,” I said with a note of completion in my tone so he could know that that was all to my plan.
I waited with bated breath for him to say something but the longer he kept quiet the more I began to think that perhaps my plan was not as foolproof as I had thought it to be.
Eventually, he cleared his throat and said, “For this to work, it has to be believable.”
I sighed in relief—my Beta was on board.
“Of course, that is why I am considering approaching Alpha Orion. He has always made his distaste for Alpha Simeon known,” I said to Austin. I had not thought everything out yet but I knew with Austin brainstorming with me, my plan could not fail.
“Alpha Orion is too greedy, he may just go to Simeon and reveal your plan for a bag of gold or some such thing,” replied Austin.
Austin was right about this. It was not just Alpha Orion that could screw me over, any other Alpha could. If it did not present a problem now it could become a problem in the future. They could use it to blackmail me even.
“What about a misunderstanding? We can create a misunderstanding between them that would escalate into a battle,” I suggested a solution to the loophole Austin had found in my plan.
“What are you thinking?” asked Austin.
“It is famously known that Alpha Orion and Alpha Simeon are in conflict over a border town between them that is rich in gold. All we have to do is make it so the two Alphas think that the other is trying to dominate the other in that town. Alpha Simeon is too hot headed to let go of that town and Alpha Orion is too greedy at the idea of losing a major source of his kingdom forever,” I explained to Austin. I could see his face brighten up which made me know that he liked my plan or at least he thought it was feasible.
“I like it and all we have to do is erect Simeon’s flag in the part of town known to belong to Orion and vice versa,” my Beta added. This was why I liked having him by my side. I had yet to think of what would instigate the misunderstanding between them but he had already thought of it.
“Let’s get to work,” I said with a smile on my face.
We put the plan into action immediately but we soon discovered that it was impossible to erect a flag without attracting too much attention. This was not how we wanted things to be because if I got caught trying to do what I was doing, it would only cause me embarrassment.
Then I remembered that before I had approached Austin with my plan I had wanted to leverage my trading routes in order to make Alpha Orion bend to my will.
When we returned to the palace I told Austin about it. He was not very convinced and was worried that the plan would backfire but I was going to do it anyway. It was the only way and I was desperate to get Jeremy back.
I decided to thus pay Alpha Orion a visit. It was a secret one of course, I did not want anyone knowing my business. More so, I knew the Council of Alphas would not be too pleased with my plans. They would tag my actions illegal and liable to cause confusion but I could care less what they thought of me. If any problems arose in the future, I would deal with them then.
“To what do I owe this clandestine visit?” inquired Alpha Orion. I had not informed him of my coming to see him. When I got to his pack, I told the head guard who I was and showed him my seal as Alpha. It was only then that he had led me to a parlour where I waited for Alpha Orion to join me.
“I have a proposition for you,” I said to him.
He looked intrigued and displeased at the same time. Alpha Orion did not like to do anything but he loved money. He knew I would not come to him with a proposal that would bring him money but this time he was quite wrong.
“Your trading route through Shadow Brook forest,” I said and paused, waiting for the effect of what I had just said to settle in. I saw Alpha Orion's face turn red with dismay.
“What about it?” he asked me with a strained voice. He had been standing all this while but he sat down now. He knew the words I would say next could either make him or mar him. Either way, it was not something he could hear standing else he may end up fainting.
“Some have described your trading practices as manipulative and greed driven. Let's just say a lot of people are displeased about your business and have suggested to me that perhaps you need competition in that area so that you can…”
“What do you want?” he asked me before I could finish talking.
Olivia’s POV"Long live The Luna" I was hurt badly by what I heard, each cheer twisting the knife deeper. I trembled, clutching my dress beside me, my stomach churning with bitterness. I couldn't breathe properly.I spun around, staring at the stage where Damien stood, his gaze avoiding mine. Beside him, Brielle wore the ceremonial robes of Luna, her smile bright and victorious. My legs shook beneath me.This is not real. It can’t be real. Last night, Damien had held me close, whispering promises against my hair as he slept with me. "You are mine, Olivia. I will make you my Luna, only you." I had believed him, given him everything — my body, my heart, my trust. But now, in front of the entire pack, he’s giving the title that should have been mine to someone else. The betrayal was too much to bear. A bitter scream rose from my throat, and I stepped forward."Damien," my voice was loud enough to be heard amidst the music gaining everyone's attention. The music stopped, and laughter die
Olivia's POV.I folded my clothes into the small bag, my fingers gripping the fabric so tight, my eyes burning from holding back tears. Every corner of this room was a memory I had spent together with Damien—the fake whisper of promises. The way he used to look at me like I was the only thing that mattered. Now all of it meant nothing; I was nothing to him.The door creaked open behind me, and I snapped my gaze back. Realizing it was Damien, I felt my stomach knot in anger, and I snapped my gaze forward. I kept my back to him, focusing on the bag in front of me, forcing myself not to break down.“Liv,” Damien called with his baritone voice, calm and controlled. But I didn’t answer. I had nothing to say to him.“I need to talk to you,” he said, taking a step closer.“What is there left to say?” I spoke against my will, my voice sharper than intended. Damien didn’t react to my coldness.“I need you to leave the pack,” he said. “It’s for your good.”I let out a short laugh, shaking my he
Olivia's POV.My head was spinning, my heart ricocheting against my chest as I ran. I was leaving the pack. I know Damien asked me to stay... And he was the Alpha, no one was supposed to disobey him, but I've had enough of him. Between disobeying his treacherous ass and killing my baby, I chose the former.I kept going forward, deeper into the forest. My feet pounded the forest floor, my breath coming in ragged gasps as I ran with every single strength I possessed. The trees blurred together, their branches whipping past my face like skeletal fingers. I didn't dare look back, fearing what I might see.Damien's words echoed in my mind: "You will stay at the safe house outside the palace tonight." But I knew I couldn't stay, not after what he’d asked me to do. He didn't want the pregnancy, and I knew why. As the Alpha, having a child with me would ruin his reputation and compromise his position. But I couldn't bring myself to get rid of the baby, no matter how hard he'd tried to convinc
Olivia's POV.I woke up to a loud bang on the door. I sat up with a start as I rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the sleep in my eyes. My body was still aching, and the bruises still hurt me like a fresh wound. I had cried myself to sleep last night, exhausted from my failed escape attempt. My heart was pounding as I heard Damien's voice on the other side. "Good morning, Olivia," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "I hope you had a good night."My eyes narrowed as I glared at the door. I knew he was just taunting me, enjoying my misery and pain."Get up," he ordered. "It's time to do what has to be done."I threw off the covers and got out of the dark area, my eyes blazing with anger and hate. "You know exactly how my night was," I spat, my voice venomous and loud. "You think you can just use me and discard me like trash? You're heartless, Damien."Damien's expression remained impassive, but I saw a flicker of something in his eyes. I didn't know what it was, but I knew it was

I asked, wanting to make sure I'd heard him right. He nodded, his golden eyes shining in the moonlight. "You need protection," he said.I paused, unsure of what to do. I promised to protect our pack and your father."He looked up at me, his eyes pleading. "But you promised me too. You promised you wouldn't fight anymore."I pressed a kiss to his forehead, trying to steady my heavy breath. "I'll come back to you, I swear."Behind me, the pack warriors stood, their worried faces etched in my mind without needing to turn around. Killian, my second-in-command, spoke up."My Luna, you shouldn't do this. It's a trap."I inhaled sharply, rising to face them. "I have to."Killian stepped forward, his jaw tight. Damien’s POVThe night air hit my skin, sending goosebumps through my body. I shivered slightly, walking towards the stable where I had kept my horse. The sounds of music and laughter from the hall was loud, echoing through the night. I huffed in annoyance as I approached my horse that was tied together with others. The stable boy ran up to meet me just to confirm I was not taking a horse that didn't belong to me and on recognizing me he bowed and scurried away. My mind had already begun to work out several plans that I could use to get to Simeon. It was going to be tough— no doubt, especially since even though his pack was weak, he was one of the strongest out of the weak ones. I racked my brain, trying to remember if Alpha Simeon had any enemy pack I could pay off to attack them and then come in as a knight in shining armor to help them, but of course— a daunting condition will be attached and he, out of desperation would have no choice than to accept. I smiled to myself as I led
Olivia’s POVI woke up the next morning to a peculiar quietness. The palace, which was always abuzz with early morning preparations, was eerily quiet. I sat up on my bed slowly, my heart pounding in my chest as I turned to look at Jeremy who laid next to me.“Mommy?” His voice was half asleep as he tried to speak.“It’s time,” I said softly, stroking his hair away.Brielle had poisoned the entire palace’s meal, adding a sleeping mixture to their breakfast. I’d been reluctant to trust her at first, but desperation forged strange allies and as promised, she had opened the exit gates for me, providing an unobstructed way out of the pack with my son.I took Jeremy’s hand, and cautiously stepped over the unconscious guards who lay stretched across the halls. Some slumped over tables, others collapsed on the ground, their breathing deep and slow. My stomach twisted at the sight, but I pushed myself to move ahead. The gates were swung wide open already to create an easy passage for me.I w
Olivia’s POVI stood still in the doorway of the grand hall, my eyes still fixed on the last person I thought I would never see again.Brielle was the woman who Damien had said was dead but there she was, in a flowing, emerald gown, her blond hair falling over her shoulders and her mouth smiling smugly, causing a sudden bolt of rage to pulse through me.“Well, well,” Brielle said, tilting her head as she looked at me with bemused disdain. “I heard Damien has been losing sleep because of you,” She paused to get my attention, “I have to say that I was interested in the woman who got him this desperate.” She slowly stepped forward, glancing at the little boy standing next to me. “Who do we have here?” Her gaze darkened. “Is this Damien’s bastard son?”I was so furious that I hardly noticed my own motion as the sound of my palm meeting Brielle’s cheek rang through the hall.“You dare hit me?” Brielle flared, her face snapping to the side from the strength of the slap. In slow motion, I
Olivia’s POVBeta Austin stood beside the dining table with his hand crossed and eyes fixed on me. Before me, sat a steaming dish of roasted meat sauce and fresh bread, which hadn’t even been touched.“I do not need your food, I just want to return to my Pack with my son. Is that too much to ask for?” I quizzed, refusing to eat the meal being served to me. Austin sighed like he had been waiting for this resistance. “I cannot do you that favor, Olivia,” He said calmly.“Then please leave… Take your food. ” I turned away, patting Jeremy’s head as though the conversation had ended.Austin looked at me for a long moment wondering the next action to take. He had braced himself for hostility but the weariness hiding beneath my strong façade startled him. He sighed as his voice immediately took on a softer tone. “Just eat something,” He urged again. “You’re not doing yourself or your son any favors by not taking care of yourself,” He added thinking I was going to get hooked on that but I
