Damien's POV

Olivia was seated in the stables when I got to the palace. She sat upright, staring at the stars. She appeared deep in thoughts and my plan was to sneak out before she could see me. But if I did that I would not be able to keep the horses myself. I had already committed to the task and backing out was no longer an option that made sense to me. I had taken them this far and it would not feel right to abandon the responsibility now.

However, my cover was blown by a guard and so the decision to stay hidden was taken out of my hand.

“Alpha Damien,” a guard called out to me, his voice seeming alarmed.

“Damien?” Olivia turned to see me, then as her eyes took in my appearance, she asked, “what happened?”

Clearly this was no longer something that I could hide. “It's a long story.”

“That happened in one night?” her head was cocked to the side as she continued to look pointedly at me.

I had no response for her except to exhale loudly. I wished I had been able to avoid the conversa

Prinsca's POV “Everything is finally coming into focus, Prinsca. We will rule the world together,” she said, an evil smile on her lips.“You tell that to everybody,” I said the words before I could stop myself from saying the words out loud.“Oh, honey, I never meant it when I tell the men but when I tell you, I mean it,” if I did not know better, I would have believed her. She had a very alluring voice.I was quiet. I felt a strange weight settle over my chest. I watched her as she walked about the room, she was probably thinking of something evil to do or how she was going to spurn her wicked plans. She walked slowly, each step echoing off the walls, and I felt my breathing shorten. I wished I had not spoken earlier, because now it felt like something dangerous was about to unfold. The way she paused at intervals, glancing at me from the corner of her eyes, made me uneasy.Suddenly, she stopped in front of me and crouched, placed her hand on my stomach and said with a toothy smile.

Prinsca's POV “There's no loyalty in the world, really,” Alira said in a high-pitched tone.I sat down and stayed quiet, not wanting to trigger her in any way. She was unpredictable and in all honesty, I was scared of what might happen to me if she sensed that I was against her in any way. I avoided her eyes because looking at her for too long made my hands tremble, and I could not afford to show weakness in front of her.“I mean, you betrayed your brother,” she said, turning to look at me. Of course, she had conveniently left out the part where she had threatened to harvest my baby from my womb while she made me watch her do it. I placed my hand instinctively over my bulging stomach, realising that she could still carry out her threat. My skin felt tight around my stomach as I tried to steady my breathing, knowing that any wrong move could be dangerous.“And now Austin? He's going to betray his best friend. They've been friends since they were in diapers,” said Alira with an amused

Orion's POV I woke up in the middle of the night, startled and soaked in sweat like I usually was these days. It had been two days since I had returned home. Olivia had told me that she would find a way to reach out to me but I was beginning to doubt that she ever will. I understood her though, a lot was at stake and if we were caught plotting against Alira, it would lead to our immediate deaths. However, I was freaking out with every second that passed. It was frustrating smiling at the woman who I knew was going to kill me. Worse still I feared that she had a hold of me due to our past intimacy which I knew she expected me to have no memories of.I hated how silent the halls had become. Even the servants avoided meeting my eyes, like they could sense something was wrong.I woke up in the night, covered in sweat and decided that it was best if I just took a walk. I knew that I would be unable to go back to sleep. It was becoming a habit—these nightly walks. They gave me a sense of c

Damien's POV I had the feeling that Austin was watching me just as closely as I was watching for his reaction. So I laughed like what had happened was funny, “can you believe it?”“I mean, it's funny. So they mistook you for a servant?” but his voice did not match my excitement. There was a flicker in his eyes—something unreadable. It wasn’t annoyance or amusement. It was restraint, like he was holding something back. That unsettled me more than his words.“I intend to find out who this nobleman is. I believe we abolished laws giving noblemen the right to murder their servants without consequences,” my tone took a serious turn.“And how do you intend to find him?” he asked me.“I just need to find this woman named Alora,” I said, shrugging my shoulders, “I'm not sure why that name sounds familiar,” I furrowed my eyebrows as though I was confused.“I don't think we have time for that, I mean, there are more pressing issues at hand,” he said, his tone firm as he tried to convince me. Damien's POV I spent the rest of the night tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep. At the first crack of dawn, I went to Jeremy's room to check on him. I knew that Olivia would not approve but time was short and who knew when last I would be able to see my son? I started the day with the determination to get Olivia's consent to tell Jeremy that I was his father. However when I opened the door to Jeremy's room, he was not in bed.The blankets were pushed aside, as if he had left in a hurry, and his slippers were still tucked neatly under the edge of the bed.My first thought was that Olivia had disappeared with him in the night, possibly afraid that whoever had tried to kill me would come to the palace with a murderous vengeance. Rage filled me at this thought… that she would just take off with Jeremy without telling me about it.Another kind of feeling washed over me at the idea that someone had come to steal him right from under my nose. The idea was not impossible and that was
