“Mummy, I'm scared,” he muttered to me.

“Don't be. I promise to find you wherever you are, okay?” I kissed him on his forehead and closed the wall again.

It was time to defend our home from attack.

Damien's POV

I left Austin where he stood and went into my study. I closed the door behind me, entirely centered towards my desk. Then, I felt the presence of someone in the room, and I looked to the couch at the corner. Brielle sat there, her legs crossed, looking at me with eyes that I could not place what emotions were in them.

“Brielle,” I commented coldly, shocked to see her there.

The last time I had seen her was at the banquet with Alpha Axel, where she had made plans with him and then had a funny tantrum, trying to get me to introduce her as my Luna and even telling me that she was pregnant.

“Damien,” she said, standing up slowly, walking to meet me across the room.

She put out a hand and placed it gently on my chest. I looked down at her hand on my chest and then met her gaze, gi

3 Weeks LaterOlivia’s POV“Cheers to our Luna!” The war with Alpha Orion was over at least for now. I knew we had won but it also meant that we would always be on the defensive, we would always live with a constant fear that at any time Orion would attack us. I knew that Orion would not take his defeat well. For a very long time, our pack had been viewed as the weakest with only Alpha Simeon as the only one who had the strength to fight. However, things are going to be different now. We had proven that what we lacked in number and strength we made up for in skills and intelligence. Other packs that thought that they could fight us and win would think twice before attacking us. With our win came a bit of fear and apprehension but at the moment we could savour our victory. we would have thought that a pack as powerful as the Blackthorne pack would surrender to us. “Indeed! She has proven that her place belongs in this pack,” remarked Gamma Erwin. I liked to believe that I had proven

Olivia’s POV"Long live The Luna" I was hurt badly by what I heard, each cheer twisting the knife deeper. I trembled, clutching my dress beside me, my stomach churning with bitterness. I couldn't breathe properly.I spun around, staring at the stage where Damien stood, his gaze avoiding mine. Beside him, Brielle wore the ceremonial robes of Luna, her smile bright and victorious. My legs shook beneath me.This is not real. It can’t be real. Last night, Damien had held me close, whispering promises against my hair as he slept with me. "You are mine, Olivia. I will make you my Luna, only you." I had believed him, given him everything — my body, my heart, my trust. But now, in front of the entire pack, he’s giving the title that should have been mine to someone else. The betrayal was too much to bear. A bitter scream rose from my throat, and I stepped forward."Damien," my voice was loud enough to be heard amidst the music gaining everyone's attention. The music stopped, and laughter died

Olivia's POV.I folded my clothes into the small bag, my fingers gripping the fabric so tight, my eyes burning from holding back tears. Every corner of this room was a memory I had spent together with Damien—the fake whisper of promises. The way he used to look at me like I was the only thing that mattered. Now all of it meant nothing; I was nothing to him.The door creaked open behind me, and I snapped my gaze back. Realizing it was Damien, I felt my stomach knot in anger, and I snapped my gaze forward. I kept my back to him, focusing on the bag in front of me, forcing myself not to break down.“Liv,” Damien called with his baritone voice, calm and controlled. But I didn’t answer. I had nothing to say to him.“I need to talk to you,” he said, taking a step closer.“What is there left to say?” I spoke against my will, my voice sharper than intended. Damien didn’t react to my coldness.“I need you to leave the pack,” he said. “It’s for your good.”I let out a short laugh, shaking my he

Olivia's POV.My head was spinning, my heart ricocheting against my chest as I ran. I was leaving the pack. I know Damien asked me to stay... And he was the Alpha, no one was supposed to disobey him, but I've had enough of him. Between disobeying his treacherous ass and killing my baby, I chose the former.I kept going forward, deeper into the forest. My feet pounded the forest floor, my breath coming in ragged gasps as I ran with every single strength I possessed. The trees blurred together, their branches whipping past my face like skeletal fingers. I didn't dare look back, fearing what I might see.Damien's words echoed in my mind: "You will stay at the safe house outside the palace tonight." But I knew I couldn't stay, not after what he’d asked me to do. He didn't want the pregnancy, and I knew why. As the Alpha, having a child with me would ruin his reputation and compromise his position. But I couldn't bring myself to get rid of the baby, no matter how hard he'd tried to convinc

Olivia's POV.I woke up to a loud bang on the door. I sat up with a start as I rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the sleep in my eyes. My body was still aching, and the bruises still hurt me like a fresh wound. I had cried myself to sleep last night, exhausted from my failed escape attempt. My heart was pounding as I heard Damien's voice on the other side. "Good morning, Olivia," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "I hope you had a good night."My eyes narrowed as I glared at the door. I knew he was just taunting me, enjoying my misery and pain."Get up," he ordered. "It's time to do what has to be done."I threw off the covers and got out of the dark area, my eyes blazing with anger and hate. "You know exactly how my night was," I spat, my voice venomous and loud. "You think you can just use me and discard me like trash? You're heartless, Damien."Damien's expression remained impassive, but I saw a flicker of something in his eyes. I didn't know what it was, but I knew it was

Chapter 5Finding Refuge and Becoming LunaOlivia's POVI stared at the stranger, trying to wrap my head around what he was saying. "You're offering me a place to stay with your pack?" I asked, wanting to make sure I'd heard him right. He nodded, his golden eyes shining in the moonlight. "You need protection," he said.I paused, unsure of what to do. Part of me was desperate for a safe place to call home, but another part of me was wary of trusting someone I barely knew. No one had ever offered me kindness without expecting something in return. Especially not after everything I'd been through.I looked into his eyes, searching for any sign of insincerity. But all I saw was genuine concern."Why are you doing this for me?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. His expression softened. "Because you need help," he said. "And I think you're worth saving."I felt a lump form in my throat. No one had ever been this kind to me before. In that moment, I knew I had a choice to make. I coul

I promised to protect our pack and your father."He looked up at me, his eyes pleading. "But you promised me too. You promised you wouldn't fight anymore."I pressed a kiss to his forehead, trying to steady my heavy breath. "I'll come back to you, I swear."Behind me, the pack warriors stood, their worried faces etched in my mind without needing to turn around. Killian, my second-in-command, spoke up."My Luna, you shouldn't do this. It's a trap."I inhaled sharply, rising to face them. "I have to."Killian stepped forward, his jaw tight. Olivia's POV.I stood frozen, my wrists bound by cold metal ropes. The warriors on either side of me dragged me through the forest. The air was damp and smelled of moss and pine. My jaw was clenched, my mind racing.Damien. Just his name made my blood boil. I was so angry when I heard it. Now, I was being dragged back to him like a prisoner. We came out of the forest and into the pack's territory. The massive gates loomed ahead, shining in the moonlight. My stomach twisted, but I kept my head high. I wouldn't show weakness. Not in front of him.The pack's homes and buildings were neat and well-kept. Warriors stood in lines, watching me. Some looked curious, others admiring. A few seemed wary, but none spoke.I was pulled to a stop in front of them. They bowed, like I was an important guest. Damien stood at the top of the steps, watching me."You brought me here," I said sharply. "Get to the point."Damien's eyes flickered with amusement. He gestured, and the warriors released me. I rub

"Okay, so what's this your loving idea?" Austin said almost sarcastically. I knew he was already mocking the idea in his head but little did he know that it was a genius plan. "Become one of the staff in Simeon's palace. Someone who can get close to Jeremy," I grinned. "Your plan being?""Look Austin, Olivia and Simeon— as much as they try to be there for Jeremy, they can't be there a hundred percent of the time. They will always have to leave him to the hands of maids.""You're not seriously thinking of becoming a maid for him, are you?" Austin said, giving me a look of skepticism. "What's wrong, you don't think I could pass off as a maid?" I asked, looking down at my body and then at my arms. "Of course not silly," he scoffed. "And they would definitely give the job to a female. I'm sure he has one for that.""Oh well," I sighed dejectedly."You were really willing to stoop that low huh?" Austin asked, this time a genuine smile on his face. "I have an even better idea?""What's

“The interesting thing about this forest is that it also makes the shadows of whoever is standing on its own shadow look bigger. So, if we have a hundred men stationed just at the edge of the Forest of Shadows, the enemy is going to think that we have twice the men. Should Orion's army approach this men, our men would have seen them coming and will retreat into the forest before Orion's army gets to them at the edge of the forest. Now, besides the shadows, the Forest of Shadows is known for its trees with large thorns that are also poisonous. Orion's army will think that our men fled before them to hide in the forest but actually, they would be luring then into a labyrinth of poisonous thorns,” I saw Gamma Erwin nodding his head as I spoke and I could see the twinkle in Zeta Ruphus’ eyes. It meant that they liked what I was saying so far. “So with only a hundred men we can kill a thousand men of Orion. The Forest of the Shadows surrounds about seven of our towns. The only place that

He bent down and picked up a broken broomstick that had been left carelessly by his maid and then he ran at the man and hit him as hard as he could between the legs. The man cried out in pain.Another masked man tried to grab him and stuff his mouth with a cloth but Jeremy was already running away down the hall.At that moment, two guards finally came. They heard the noise and rushed toward us. The masked men saw them, shouted something I couldn’t understand, and ran off. Their boots made loud echoes as they disappeared. The hand over my mouth let go and ran towards the other men realising it would be over for him if he did not run away in that instant. I fell forward, gasping for breath, and ran toward my son. “Jeremy!”He was standing against the wall, his small body shaking. He had dropped the stick.I dropped to my knees and wrapped my arms around him, holding him close. I kissed his head and held him like I would never let him go again.“I’m okay,” he said quietly. "Is that a threat?" I asked, raising a brow at him. The nerve of him to threaten me when it was clear that I had succeeded against him. "I don't do threats," he hissed sharply at me. "I make promises.""One thing I know about you is that you're not a man of your word," I replied, matching the naughty gaze he gave me. "You'll be breaking that promise sooner than you want to."He spat at me and turned his back. If I were being honest with myself, I wanted to drive my sword through his back and watch him fall dead into the ground, but I would only be attracting death. I turned away and walked towards where Olivia and Reuben were waiting for me. "We leave now," I said, directing my words at Reuben. "I'm glad you listened," she said softly beside me. I ignored her though. I was quite certain she was only saying that because she wanted me to forgive her or something of sorts which I was not ready to. With what I had heard, she was only doing all of this to win my trust and I knew she'd e

A Fight to Surrender Simeon's POVThe last thing I had expected was for Olivia to show up in battle. I had expected the rear end of the battlefield where my beta, Reuben, was holding off to be completely hopeless only for me to hear my name and see her— and when I looked behind me, I could see that the end of the battlefield was cleared off.I did not want to retreat because it would make me feel like a coward who could not fight Orion off and also because I did not want to listen to her, but she was right. It was a death wish and the best thing was to retreat and restrategize. So although reluctant, I told my men to retreat to the Southern Cliff. There was not much resistance from Orion's men who had been badly hit too. I knew they were going to strategize too. “When we were assembled at the Southern Cliff, I said to Olivia in a stern voice, “this had better be good.” I wanted it to be clear that I had not forgiven her and I was still very angry with her. She ignored the anger in my

But I did not allow his sword to touch mine. I dragged the man closest to me in an attempt to block the sword aimed at me and instead of me, the man I had used as my shield died. The soldier looked horrified as he realised that he had killed one of his own. I took advantage of the brief moment to lunge my sword deep into his stomach. He had not seen it coming.Blood pooled at his feet as I yanked my sword free before his body fell to the ground with a thud. He was still gargling up and struggling to stay alive but the impact of horses trodding on him eventually killed him as the pain and weight was unbearable.A soldier thrust his sword forward, but I used my shield to block it. The impact was this close to sending me flying off my horse but I held on because falling off meant death. I used my shield to push his sword forward but he held on tightly. Luckily for me, my shield was made with reinforced metal and pushing with all my might caused his sword to bend and break at the centre.

Simeon's POV The nerve of Damien. He was by far the most infuriating and challenging person I'd ever had to deal with throughout my entire existence. He was a proud man who believed he could always get his way and that he was untouchable, and the moon goddess knew how badly I was going to teach him a lesson. Something was telling me that the attack against my pack from Orion was orchestrated by him. I had no proof of that yet, but I had every reason to believe so. Orion and I had always hated each other, especially over the disputes regarding the town because he wanted all the money the town was making to himself, but unfortunately we had to share it. We had fought over it severally and we had eventually come to a peace treaty concerning it to have equal parts of it, but suddenly he changed his mind and wanted everything? Bringing a war to my door?Yes, Orion was greedy. His palms were always scratching him to give something more no matter how much he had, but the timing was too p
