Chapter 16 - Explanations

“Hi.” Kane says when I come back into the house.

“Hi.” I say walking to sit next to him. He looks at me smiling.

“I missed you when I woke up this morning.” He says looking at me his eyes filled with intensity. His voice is low and calm but I can tell he’s holding back his emotions.

“I know I should have said goodbye.” I say looking away. I feel bad for leaving him like that.

“Or you could have not left.” He states looking at me closely. “Why did you leave?” He asks his brow wrinkling a little.

“I…” I say and then the words leave me. He looks at me confused. “I got scared.” I say remembering Noni’s advice. I need to talk to him, tell him the truth and if he can’t handle it I’ll get rid of him faster.

“Why were you scared? Did I come on to you too hard? I thought you wanted to.” He says looking at me with a look of horror on his face.
