Chapter 4

Axel's Pov

My lips quivered as I looked at the figure who had just planted a kiss on the window.

"Leah?" I muttered. "What's Leah doing in country H?"

I watched as the woman looked confused as the car drove by. I gripped the laptop on my legs tight, feeling a surge of emotions.

Could that be Leah? Leah of five years ago had long, silky hair that felt like silk to touch, but this lady had a short bob cut. However, I couldn't be mistaken by the mole between her eyebrows.

"Master," Secretary Derek called out, "I am so sorry about the mess on the window; I will get it cleaned up immediately."

I looked at my secretary, who was already sweating. All my workers knew I am a clean freak and that I couldn't condone a speck of dust. I looked towards the love-shaped kiss, which reminded me of her kiss. "Don't bother," I smirked. "Don't bother cleaning it."

"Boss is really angry," I heard Little Nine, who was in the driver's seat, whisper to Derek. He continued, "I wonder what family that lady comes from; she better run far away from country H," he said, shivering.

"Don't worry, Master," Derek said, this time shivering, "We will get the window sparkling clean and also change it to another one."

I could sense what he was thinking. If it were before, I would have gotten out of the car and into another one, but... hm, Leah.

I looked angrily at these guys who kept on disrupting my thoughts. "Do not bother," I said through gritted teeth.

Derek gulped and shakily wiped the beads of sweat already forming on his forehead. "Why is it so hot suddenly?" Little Nine whispered again.

I ignored them and looked out of the window. Leah, is she really back in country H? Why, for what reasons? After the divorce, she had left without taking anything with her. I had tried not to look for any information about her so that I wouldn't betray Louisiana, but was it easy?

No, it wasn't. I had kept on calling Leah, even when I make out with Louisiana, which had kept Louisiana on edge every time. I'd kept apologizing and feeling guilty. For five years now, I couldn't take her off my mind.

"Master, Derek called out again,". I looked at him angrily, he quickly lowered his head and muttered, "We are already at the city's hospital sire."

Hmm, I nodded and came down from the car. The Russo Empire has just invested in the Children wards of the city's hospital making the Russo Empire one of the VIPs of the hospital.

"President Axel..."

As I walked through the hospital, everyone bowed in reverence towards me. They all looked at me in awe as one of the successful people in the country.

They thought I had it all, but beneath this facade, no one knew I had lost one of the things easier for common people to get.

"President, this is the conference meeting hall, I will go prepare the documents," Derek said. I nodded and walked into the conference hall, the hall was empty, I scrunched my face in anger. I hate late coming the most.

I sat impatiently in the hall, occasionally tapping my fingers on the glass table.

"You are a baldie, you are a baldie," I heard a group of children saying.

"I am not a baldie, mummy says I am the most strongest boy In the world," a cute tiny voice called out.

I felt attached to the voice and walked out. Just outside the hall, four boys about five years gathered around a boy whose hair was bald.

He was desperately trying to convince them that he was not bald. I didn't know what went wrong with me as I found myself walking towards the boys. "Hey stop that," I said, I walked towards the bald boy and helped him up, wiping his tears. "It's okay," I said.

"Uncle don't play with him, he is a bad luck," another boy said.

I sucked my teeth and looked at them, "who told you he is bad luck," I said, "He is not a bad luck but a very strong handsome boy."

The bald boy smiled at me showing me his dimples. My heart melted away, he is so handsome, he reminds me of someone, but I can't seem to remember who.

"Blah, blah," the fat boy said, "Mommy said he is bad luck and I am not going to play with him, hmmmp," they ran away before I could scold them.

I turned to the boy and asked, "What's your name?"

The boy flashed a smile, "Jasper."

"Wow, you have such a nice name," I tapped his cheek. He laughed and said, "And uncle is such a handsome man."

I chuckled and tousled his hair gently, "Thank you, Jasper. So, where is your mom?"

"Mommy went out," Jasper said, bending down to pick up his cap, which was probably pulled off by the boys.

"What about your father?" I asked him, feeling strangely attached to him.

"I don't have a daddy," Jasper muttered. "Mummy said Daddy travelled to space and won't be back for a while, but I know mommy is lying. I don't know why you adults lie so much. The truth is I don't have a daddy and I am a bastard."

I felt touched hearing that. What could have led a young boy to call himself a bastard? "You are not a bastard, Jasper," I said, helping him to position his cap.

"See, that's why I said adults lie too much," Jasper breathed in deeply. "Why can't you just say the truth? The people in the province call me a bastard," he said.

My heart sank at Jasper's words. "Come," I said, lifting him up, "let's go look for your mommy." Jasper hugged me, and I was overwhelmed by the sweetness of the gesture, he smelt like milk a d was so soft. As we went searching, a male voice called out, "Jasper."

He was wearing a white coat, probably a doctor. "Michael!" Jasper shouted.

Michael looked at me and carried Jasper from my arms, scolding him gently, "I told you never to wander off with strangers. Do you want your mommy to be worried?"

Jasper smiled and said, "Handsome uncle is not a bad person; he saved me from a group of bullies!"

Michael looked at me and walked away, taking Jasper with him. I felt an odd mix of emotions as they left. I couldn't quite place it, but I found myself feeling protective and concerned for Jasper.

President Axel, here you are," Chairman Lee greeted me with a warm smile, accompanied by a group of doctors. I returned his greeting, masking my inner turmoil. "Chairman Lee," I replied, attempting to match his composure.

"I am sorry for coming late. There was an emergency case which needed my attention," Chairman Lee explained, his smile still present.

Despite his apology, a wave of anger surged within me. "It's no problem, Chairman Lee," I forced a smile, keeping my frustration hidden.

Suddenly, a familiar voice called out, "Jasper!" I turned to see Leah, still in her previous outfit, embracing Jasper who was being held by Michael. "Mommy!" Jasper exclaimed excitedly, hugging Leah.

Confusion and shock gripped me. Leah was Jasper's mother? How? When? A barrage of questions flooded my mind.

When did Leah partner up with someone behind my back? I was bewildered. There were no signs of her being pregnant before she left.

As I watched Leah, Jasper, and Michael walk away, they appeared to be a perfect family. A picture perfect family. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks.

Did Leah cheat on me while we were still married? My chest tightened with jealousy and a profound sense of betrayal.

Jasper looked about five years old, and if he was Leah's son, it didn't add up. Even if she left me, her son shouldn't be this old.

Chairman Lee's concerned voice intervened, "President Axel, is everything the matter?" I turned to see the worry reflected on the faces of the others around me.

I tighten my fists, and said through gritted teeth, "Meeting dismissed." I storm out barely containing my anger. I could feel their confused gazes following me as I left.

"Can someone ends a meeting which had not even started?" I heard Little nine whispers to Derek.

Inside the car, my fists struck the sleek black leather chair in frustration. I retrieved my cell phone and dialed a number. "Hello, I need you to investigate someone for me," I said, my voice taut with emotion.
