Olivia's POV
The heavy iron gate slowly slammed shut behind me.
The thud of metal echoed in the basement, like a final verdict on my fate.
Chill air rose from the ground, sending shivers down my spine as goosebumps rose on my skin.
Just when I thought I was gonna be alone in the dark forever, I heard footsteps approaching.
Beta Jeffrey showed up holding a dim oil lamp, the flickering light dancing on his stern face.
I looked up at him, a glimmer of hope welling up inside me.
"Jeffrey," I called out, my voice echoing in the empty cell, "you know I'm innocent, right?"
He avoided my gaze, a helpless look on his face.
"Luna Olivia, I..." he hesitated, clearly torn between loyalty and justice.
"Please get me outta here," I pleaded, my voice shaking a bit. "This isn't right."
His eyes showed sympathy, but it was soon replaced by determination.
"Luna Olivia, I'm sorry, but I can't defy the Alpha." His voice was low, laced with a hint of helplessness.
And just like that, I was left alone in this cold, dark cell again.
The next day, I was woken by the light seeping in through the cracks in the door.
With the sound of the key turning, Beta Jeffrey walked in.
Standing at the doorway with a frown, he piped up, "Luna Olivia."
After a moment of hesitation, he went on, "Alpha Marsh wants me to ask if you're willing to apologize to Emily."
I looked up to meet his gaze before firmly replying, "Not gonna happen. I didn't do anything wrong."
"I get it, Luna. But Alpha..." he sighed.
"Enough," I interrupted him, "I know you mean well, but I'm not gonna say sorry for something I've never done."
Jeffrey fell silent.
A while later, he added, "If you refuse to do it, Alpha Marsh won't let you out."
Not feeling like arguing with him, I just shut my eyes.
He let out a sigh and walked out, closing the door shut.
The silence returned, yet the agony and fury kept simmering inside me.
I called out to my wolf in my mind.
She just replied with a whimper. Apparently, she was as hurt as I was.
Just then, a bold idea hit me.
"We should end things with Marsh," I told her.
Elara countered, but her protest got weaker and weaker.
I could feel her pain and her disappointment with Marsh.
"I know it's tough," I continued, "And our company has merged with his. We can't just leave now. Without money and pack, we'd end up as rogues."
Just when I was trying to figure a way out, I felt a rumble at the pack border.
This rumble mostly represented danger and invasion.
I rose to my feet, listening carefully.
As the rumble grew stronger, I could feel the unease in the pack.
I closed my eyes in the basement, trying to mind-link the shifters in the pack.
Mind-link was a special gift for werewolves. It enables us to communicate through the mind.
I concentrated and soon sensed the alarm from the pack guards.
Their voices sounded urgent and horrified, telling me that there was a rogue attack on the pack border.
"Beta Jeffrey," I urgently called out to him through mind-link.
"Let me out, I'm the Luna. It's my duty to protect our pack!"
After a moment of silence, Jeffrey's voice finally came through.
"The cell and the gate have already been unlocked, Luna."
I immediately dashed out, my heart beating like a drum as I ran down the dim corridor.
When I arrived at the pack square, all I could see was complete chaos.
Many shifters were retreating in a panic, fear written all over their faces.
'Time to join the fight,' I told myself.
I shifted on the spot, my silver fur shining under the sunlight.
As I raced towards the pack border, a sense of bloodlust boiled inside me.
As soon as I got there, I saw five rogues attacking our guards in their wolf form.
Their eyes flickered with wildness, their claws flailing in the air.
Marsh had shifted too, and he was fending them off with all his might.
Without hesitation, I joined the battle.
Just then, Emily let out a scream.
Her shrill, panicked voice caught Marsh's attention.
Distracted, he took a swipe from a rogue.
Despite howling in pain, he didn't retreat.
Another rogue, noticing me, made a lunge. I nimbly dodged to the left, avoiding his claws.
As he turned to face me, I leaped onto his back, all swift and decisive.
With my front paws gripping his fur, I sunk my teeth into his neck.
In the blink of an eye, I took him out.
Then, I turned my focus to another enemy.
This rogue appeared stronger, with a fierce gleam in his eyes.
Instead of fighting him straight up, I started circling him, looking for a weak spot.
When he was trying to attack me, I sprang up and landed a solid kick to his gut with my hind legs.
Then I spun away, dodging his counterattack.
My cooperation with the pack guards was perfect. Whenever a rogue attempted to breach our line, one of us would step in to deliver a lethal blow.
Finally, the fight wrapped up with all invaders down except one escaping.
I shifted back to my human form behind a tree and put on the spare clothes.
The minute I returned from behind the tree, I heard Emily's cry.
She rushed towards Marsh and then turned around to accuse me, "It's all your fault! You're the reason Marsh's hurt!"
Third person's POVOlivia was taken aback for a moment, then she said, "That's a good thing. It's like free publicity."However, Wendy's face showed no trace of a smile, and she worriedly said, "But there are quite a few people discussing how you got that piece of land. The current talk outside is that Alpha Marsh made up a project for Mr. Barkley, and that's why he gave you the land."Olivia clicked her tongue, saying, "What they're saying is also the truth. No need to pay attention to it."She thought to herself, these gossip reporters were incredibly boring, not tracking down celebrity scandals but instead digging into her affairs. But no matter how much they dug, she would just consider it as publicity for the project. Once the project was completed and launched, it would naturally bring its own traffic, saving a sum on publicity costs.Seeing Olivia unconcerned, Wendy could not say anything more. She suspected that the Dawn Pack
Third person's POVA smug smile crept onto Justin's face as he continued, "By the way, contact the media and spread the word about Marsh seeking Cedric's help to give land to Olivia. If that boy from the Blackthorn Pack can create public opinion, so can we, right?"Landon nodded in agreement, "Yes, Alpha Justin. I'll get it done right away."Justin waved his hand again, confident that Olivia would eventually become part of the Dawn Pack.Justin's understanding and control of human nature were indeed quite precise. After returning to her room from the study, Moira sat on the edge of her bed, staring intently at the small vial Justin had given her.She seemed restless and uneasy. The fact that Justin had asked her to drug Olivia filled Moira with both fear and reluctance. However, the resolute look on Justin's face made it clear that he was determined for her to carry out this task.Torn between her feelings, Moira eventua
Third person's POVJustin glanced up at her, nodding with a tone that was still wild, "Take a seat."Once Moira had settled, Justin spoke up slowly, handing her a box from beside him as he said."As Marsh's mother, you would want him to live a happy and fulfilling life. I hold Olivia in high regard, and you've had a harmonious relationship with her in the past. Marsh has always been too proud to humble himself for reconciliation. This is when you, as his mother, need to step up and do something for him."Moira listened, her face showing a puzzled expression. "Alpha Justin, what do you mean...?"Seeing that Moira still didn't grasp his intentions, Justin felt a hint of disdain within. But considering he needed her to carry out this task, he suppressed his dissatisfaction. "No matter what, you and Olivia have been families for three years. Take the initiative to reconnect with her, to foster the bond between you two."Only then did Moir
Third person's POVPaparazzi had photographed Zander's late-night stay at Olivia's apartment. Although Zander's secretary intercepted the photos, the news still spread within their social circles.Upon hearing this, Hailey couldn't help but say during breakfast, "Alpha Justin, I think Olivia doesn't want to reconcile with Marsh anymore. She's with Alpha Zander now!""Nonsense, how can they be together? Didn't that boy from the Blackthorn Pack just have a new lover?" Justin said, frowning.Hailey scoffed disdainfully, "Who knows? They're good at playing games. They spent the night together. What else could it be?"Thinking Hailey was making things up again, Justin's face darkened, and he scolded, "Are you talking nonsense again?""I'm not! Alpha Justin, if you don't believe me, look, there are photos! My friend sent them to me!" Hailey defended herself hastily, handing her phone to Justin.Justin took the phone and saw a photo of Zande
Third person's POVHis actions, as if coaxing a child, left Olivia feeling helpless. Her lower abdomen was indeed aching badly, and after a moment of resistance, she could no longer hold on.With a hint of exhaustion in her voice, she said, "I have an early meeting tomorrow. I need to rest. Do as you please."She thought to herself, 'let him do whatever he wants.' She truly didn't have the energy to deal with him tonight. As she stood up, a hand on her waist stopped her, and in the next instant, she was pulled back onto the sofa by Zander."What are you afraid of, Olivia?"He put down the spoon and looked up at her, "Are you afraid I've put wolfsbane in this drink, or that by drinking it, you'll have to marry me?"Hearing this, Olivia's face turned even colder, and her voice hardened, "Zander, do you know that the cheapest thing in the world is being good to someone without limits?""Oh, are you saying I'm being pathetic
Third person's POVOlivia's face was pale due to menstrual cramps, and her tone was impatient."Do you have a stomachache?" Zander asked with concern.Olivia didn't answer his question but coldly said, "Is there anything else?"As soon as she finished speaking, Zander suddenly picked her up. Her body tensed instantly, filled with surprise, but at the same time, a sharp pain in her lower abdomen made her consciousness a bit dazed. She clenched her teeth, her hands unconsciously grabbing Zander's shirt, her fingers turning white from the effort."Does it hurt a lot?" Zander asked while carrying her to the sofa, looking down at her with a furrowed brow and eyes full of worry.Olivia weakly leaned on the armrest of the sofa and softly said, "Could you please get me a glass of water?""Sure." Zander let go without hesitation, placed her on the sofa, and then walked to the water dispenser, pouring a cup of warm water and bringing it
