Chapter 1

Olivia's POV

"Thank the Moon Goddess, you finally came back to me, my love," my mate cooed to Emily Brown.

Today, my mate Marsh Walton was officially crowned the Alpha of the Dawn Pack.

Right after he swore to make the pack thrive before all shifters in the pack square, he took Emily's hand, confessing his love for her.

Everyone was stealing glances at me, talking in whispers. The awkward tension was almost palpable.

I froze on the spot, staring at the "love birds" in disbelief.

Because I was Marsh's mate and Luna! I should've been the one sharing the moment of glory with him!

"You okay, Luna Olivia?" Marsh's Beta, Jeffrey Sanders, shot me a concerned look.

I forced a smile, telling him I was fine.

Only the Moon Goddess knew I was bleeding inside.

Of course I wasn't okay! My mate was acting all lovey-dovey with another she-wolf at his accession ceremony!

I walked over to the table and grabbed a glass of red wine, trying to drown my sorrows.

The bitter taste of alcohol spread in my mouth, but it was nothing compared to the pang in my heart.

Just as I turned my head, I saw Emily chatting with Marsh, all smiles.

After he said something that made her chuckle, she pecked him on the cheek.

I clenched my fists, biting my lip to hold back my tears.

The shifters of the Dawn Pack were watching the two, gossiping among themselves.

Since we werewolves had keen hearing, I could hear their chatter loud and clear.

One old she-wolf exclaimed, "Can't believe little Emily's all grown up now."

Another middle-aged he-wolf chimed in, sounding confused, "I remember her mate's Darcy, Alpha Darcy, I mean, from the Moonshadow Pack. What is she doing here?"

"Who knows? But I heard she was Alpha Marsh's first love. If it weren't for Marsh's grandfather's disapproval, she would've been our Luna. But Marsh never stopped pining for her," the old she-wolf replied.

"Poor Luna Olivia," sighed the he-wolf while shaking his head.

My wolf Elara let out a soft whine in my mind, showing her dissatisfaction.

Just like these two were saying, Emily was my mate's first love. And she came to the Dawn Pack out of the blue about a month ago.

Since then, Marsh seemed to have turned into a whole different person. I couldn't find any trace of the man who loved me unconditionally.

Back when his private business was tanking, I merged my company with his just to stop it from going bust. And I even helped him run it using my business talents.

While his corporation was thriving now, he started to give me the cold shoulder, like all my sacrifices meant nothing.

Noticing my stare, Emily snuggled against Marsh's chest, a glint of mockery in her eyes.

I turned away, feeling disgusted.

Spinning around, I decided to make my way to the other side of the pack square, where there was a two-story viewing platform.

After climbing the stairs, I took a deep breath, hoping it would calm myself.

"Why are you standing all lonely over here, my dear Luna? Aren't you gonna join the celebration?" An annoying female voice sounded behind me.

I turned around, only to find Emily smirking at me.

"If I were you, I would get the hell outta here. Marsh's my mate. I'm sure the shifters in this pack wouldn't welcome a whore who tries to seduce their Alpha."

"The only reason Marsh mated with you was that he needed a Luna to inherit the Dawn Pack. I'm the one he loves. Just you wait. I'll make him reject you in no time," she scoffed.

I knitted my brows, wondering what scheme she was brewing.

But soon, I realized what she wanted to do.

She strutted over to the stairs and yelled, "Olivia! What are you doing?!"

With that, she stepped right off the edge.

Caught off guard, I instinctively reached out to grab her.

Yet, she grasped my hand and pulled me down with her.

After a piercing pain, we both tumbled down to the landing.

I lay on the ground, grimacing, while my wolf growled and started healing me.

Soon, I heard footsteps approaching.

"Emily!" Marsh shouted, panicking as he rushed to her side.

Without hesitation, he scooped her up into his arms.

I lifted my head, an injured look in my eyes, but he didn't even glance my way.

I shifted my gaze to Emily, who was sobbing in Marsh's arms, "Please don't blame Olivia. She didn't mean to hurt me."

"Shhh. I'm taking you to the pack doctor," Marsh said gently.

With that, he carried her off, and the on-looking shifters left, too.

After a long while, I finally managed to struggle to my feet.

"That despicable bitch! Let me take over. I'll end her!" Elara growled in my mind.

"Chill, girl. Don't act on impulse," I tried to calm her down.

When I was finally heading to my room to take a shower, Marsh stopped me.

"You snake! How dare you push Emily down the stairs!" he spat.

"I didn't," I shot back, trying to defend myself.

"She told me so before she passed out! She would never lie to me," he snapped, fuming.

"You trust her over me?! I'm your mate!" I yelled.

Marsh just glared at me in silence.

Then, he brought his pillow and blanket and walked to the guest room where Emily was staying, leaving me dumbfounded.

"Marsh!" I chased after him, trying to grab his arm, yet he spun around and snarled at me.

Feeling intimidated, I stopped in my tracks.

Marsh then rushed towards Emily's room.

Heartbroken, I returned to our room and took a shower.

In the shower, I checked the scratches on my body.

Suddenly, a sharp pain I'd never experienced before shot through my heart.

I clutched my chest and fell onto the floor.

Chapter 2
Olivia's POVLying on the floor, I felt utterly helpless. Luckily, the pain soon subsided.Tears started to cloud my eyes as a deep sense of betrayal washed over me.Despite it being my first time feeling the pain, I knew what caused it—my mate had been staying by Emily's side, probably acting intimately.Just like how Emily kissed Marsh earlier today. In the werewolf world, when your mate snogged someone else after marking and claiming you, you'd experience such intense pain.It was like an alarm from the Moon Goddess. If they got physical, I could be in for even worse torture.I'd heard cases of werewolves who got weak and ended up losing their wolves because their mates had cheated on them.If I kept turning a blind eye, it was only a matter of time before that tragedy befell me.Making up my mind, I made my way to the bathroom and freshened up.When I stepped out, Beta Jeffrey approached me, saying, "Luna Olivia, Alpha Justin wants you to meet him in the reception room.""Where's

Olivia's POVThe heavy iron gate slowly slammed shut behind me.The thud of metal echoed in the basement, like a final verdict on my fate.Chill air rose from the ground, sending shivers down my spine as goosebumps rose on my skin.Just when I thought I was gonna be alone in the dark forever, I heard footsteps approaching.Beta Jeffrey showed up holding a dim oil lamp, the flickering light dancing on his stern face.I looked up at him, a glimmer of hope welling up inside me."Jeffrey," I called out, my voice echoing in the empty cell, "you know I'm innocent, right?"He avoided my gaze, a helpless look on his face."Luna Olivia, I..." he hesitated, clearly torn between loyalty and justice."Please get me outta here," I pleaded, my voice shaking a bit. "This isn't right."His eyes showed sympathy, but it was soon replaced by determination."Luna Olivia, I'm sorry, but I can't defy the Alpha." His voice was low, laced with a hint of helplessness. And just like that, I was left alone in t

Olivia's POVI froze, unable to believe what I just heard."Could you be more ridiculous? If it weren't for me, he would've been more severely injured, idiot," I shot back, my voice dripping with sarcasm.Emily wrapped her arms around Marsh's waist, her head resting on his chest."Marsh didn't need you. They were just about to kick those nasty rogues out before you got here," she choked out, yet her gaze at me was defiant."I said that to you because I was worried about Marsh. Why did you humiliate me?"I glanced over at Marsh, hoping he would defend me. After all, I had just saved him.If I hadn't lunged at that rogue, he would be suffering from more than just a shoulder wound.Yet, there wasn't a hit of gratitude in his eyes, only anger and disappointment.Facing all shifters from the Dawn Pack, he snapped in a cold voice, "Olivia, you're still grounded, yet you ran out without my permission and even caused chaos during the battle."I stared at him, rage boiling inside me."I did al

Chapter 5
Olivia's POVAnger and disappointment toward Marsh devoured me.When I finally found him, he was in the middle of trying on a new suit under the service of an Omega. He looked dashing, yet I wasn't in the mood to admire his charm.A hint of unease flashed across his face as soon as he saw me, but he quickly regained his composure."What are you doing here?" he asked."I'm here to ask what you're prepping for," I cut to the chase as I had run out of patience. He avoided my gaze, snapping, "None of your business.""Is that so?" I sneered, "The pack tailor met up with Emily today. I heard he was making her an evening gown. What's that about?""Watch your tone! I am your Alpha!" he snapped. Then he waved his hand. The Omega got the hint and left with the suit.Instead of answering my question, he impatiently pushed me away, trying to leave."Are you getting ready for Alpha Zander's dinner party?" I kept pressing.Marsh took a deep breath, finally admitting, "Yeah. Alpha Zander's throwing

Olivia's POVI ignored him.The party got even livelier as Alpha Zander's deep and authoritative voice sounded again."However, I'll only pick one main partner for this project. And that's exactly why I'm here. To scope out and choose the right fit."I noticed Marsh's face turned sour, a hint of anxiety flashing in his eyes.Apparently, he was eager to get in on this deal with Alpha Zander. But the awkward greeting he just pulled didn't do him any favors.Literally, he himself threw a rare chance down the drain. I guessed he must rack his brains trying to make up for it.The guests around me were still engaged in heated discussion. After all, the collaboration with Alpha Zander would bring them anything they wanted—wealth, power, status, etc.Just then, an Alpha around Marsh's age stood up.He took his date's hand and approached Alpha Zander, introducing himself, "Nice to meet you, Alpha Zander. I'm Raymond, and this is Avila, my mate, and the one and only Luna of my pack."He stresse

Olivia's POVAs Alpha Zander's voice just fell, I heard the guests gasp in surprise.Marsh's face darkened. Clearly, he wasn't expecting Alpha Zander to back me up in public.Emily froze, the smirk dying on her lips."Well, Alpha Zander—" Marsh stammered, trying to explain, but Alpha Zander just waved his hand, signaling him not to continue."I've made myself pretty clear," said Alpha Zander, his voice dripping with authority.Emily squeezed out her reluctant apology through gritted teeth, "Since that's the case, I'll apologize for what I've done."With that, she walked toward me with her wine glass in hand.Noticing the flicker of annoyance in her eyes, I took a step back, but it was too late. She had pretended to trip over her dress and spilled the wine all over my white gown. The crisp sound of the glass shattering on the floor made the crowd kick up a low buzz of surprise. The deep red stains on the white fabric stood out, like a pristine canvas marred by a sudden, violent stroke

Chapter 8
Olivia's POVMy thoughts were a whirlwind as I left the lounge.Alpha Zander's offer had caught me completely off guard.I gotta make a choice, but it wasn't easy. With heavy steps, I descended the stairs and paused at the landing.I called out to my wolf, trying to discuss with me about what had happened."Elara, what do you think about Alpha Zander's offer? As long as we become his Luna for a year, we'll get our freedom and power back," I whispered. After a moment, Elara's voice sounded in my mind, sounding a bit raspy."I'm not sure, Olivia. Marsh is our mate. Perhaps we should figure out a way to win him back instead of leaving with someone else.""I used to have the same idea, and I've tried. But he's clearly obsessed with Emily. And I don't wanna waste my time on an unfaithful mate," I sighed."Have you thought it through? If we reject Marsh, we might not get a second chance mate."Marsh's blatant betrayal and our weakening mating bond had left my wolf weak and insecure.I sooth
