Desiree’s POV

I was over the moon. Things were going way better than I’d ever dared to expect.

Warren and I sat at the kitchen counter, sharing cupcakes. We discussed plans for Paris like a pair of starry-eyed siblings on a sugar high. He even laughed—really laughed—for the first time in weeks.

When he left for a jog to clear his head, I all but skipped to the living room, phone in hand. I dialed with trembling fingers.

"Mom!" I said the second she answered, barely able to contain myself.

"Desiree?" Monica asked, cautious. "You sound… suspiciously excited. What happened?"

I bit my lip to keep from squealing. "Warren is taking me to Paris."

There was a beat of silence. "He is?" she asked slowly, like she didn’t trust her ears.

"Yes! Things are moving much faster than we thought. I think… I think it’s time for the next phase of the plan."

A long pause.

"Are you… sure about this?" she finally asked, her voice softer now. There was a tremor behind the words, almost like fear—or guilt.

Vienna’s POVAnother school week dawned, with the scent of autumn in the Paris air. But instead of nerves buzzing in my stomach, I felt light now. Energized. I was finally starting to feel like I belonged. Le Cordon Bleu had already taught me so much. Zanele and I strolled side by side through the courtyard toward our next class, her colorful scarf fluttering behind her.Just as we turned the corner leading to our classroom, the air seemed to shift. "Well, well. Look who it is," came a cold voice.Laurent.He and Chloé were leaning against the wall. Laurent smirked, arms crossed. "Bonjour, ladies," he drawled. "Excited for another week of impressing the professors, hmm?"I glanced at Zanele, then kept walking. "Excuse us," I said calmly. But Chloé stepped directly in front of me, fake-pouting. "You know, Vienna, it’s not really fair to the rest of us, is it?" Her eyes flicked to Laurent. "Some of us are trying to earn our grades the normal way."Zanele’s brows furrowed. "What’s that

Vienna’s POVThe weekend had flown by. After spending Saturday at the Louvre with Zanele, I’d decided to dedicate Sunday to self-care. A massage, a facial, and a much-needed mani-pedi later, I was glowing. I felt recharged—renewed, even.By the evening, the sky had turned a soft lavender outside my balcony window. With my feet curled beneath me on the chaise lounge, I scrolled through my contacts until I landed on Fred’s name.He picked up on the second ring. "Hey," he said, his voice gravelly and tired."Fred… hi." I softened my voice. "I heard about what happened. I didn’t want to bombard you with calls while you were recovering, but I just… I had to check in."There was a pause, then a short chuckle. "Thanks. I appreciate that. I’ve been doing a whole lot of lying down and feeling sorry for myself, so your timing’s pretty good."I winced. "How are you feeling? Really?""Been better," he admitted. "Broken rib, some impressive bruises, a split lip. But hey, nothing I can’t handle."I

Warren’s POV"Got her," Cole said, leaning back in his chair with a satisfied smirk. "The call pinged off a tower right near the Louvre. She’s in Paris."I blinked. "The Louvre? As in… the museum?"Cole nodded. That explained the strange acoustics, the echoes, the distant voices.I scoffed, shaking my head. "The city of love. Of course. Where else would she go right after dumping me?"Paris. The same place she’d always said she wanted to visit ‘someday.’ Apparently, someday was now. Without me.Just half an hour ago, I’d walked out of the police station after a humiliating night in the holding cell. I had a pounding headache, and a gut full of regret about what I’d done to Fred. Then, just as I’d got in a cab, her name had flashed across my screen. Vienna. My heart had damn near stopped. For a second, I hovered my thumb over "answer." But something told me not to.Not yet… A plan had started forming in my mind.So I’d waited, and let it go to voicemail. When I played it, her voice—shar

Vienna’s POVBella paused, her voice weighted with worry. "It happened late last night. He’s been in the hospital ever since. We… we haven’t had any updates yet."My stomach twisted. "Warren, that damned idiot!" I hissed. "How could he do this? What was he thinking?!""I don’t think he was thinking," Bella said quietly. "Noah was there. He said Warren looked… hollow. Like a ghost of himself. All anger, all questions. Like he was unraveling right in front of him. I think he’s really lost it, V."A wave of guilt crashed over me, tangled with frustration. "God, I never wanted this. I never wanted any of you to get caught in the crossfire.""Hey," she said gently. "You’ve got nothing to apologize for. He made his own choices. I didn’t want to tell you—really didn’t—because I didn’t want to spoil your time in Paris. But I thought you’d wanna know.""Bella," I sighed, my voice softening, "Don’t ever think you can’t tell me something. You did the right thing."There was a pause on her end. "S

Vienna’s POVI woke slowly, my body stretching like a cat as I blinked against the soft golden light. The rooftops of Paris shimmered beyond the window, kissed by the Saturday morning sun.I sat up, a smile tugging at my lips before I was even fully awake.Running a hand through my tousled hair, I breathed in the comforting scent of fresh linens. Everything about this city felt like a dream. Only it wasn’t. This was my life now. After a long, luxurious shower, I slipped into a flowing lavender dress. Perfect for a day of exploring. I had no concrete plans. But with the way this city worked, I was certain Paris had plans for me.Just as I was reaching for my phone, there was a gentle knock on the bedroom door."Miss Vienna?" came Jacques’ refined voice. "I took the liberty of preparing breakfast. May I bring it in?"I smiled. "Of course, Jacques. Thank you so much!"The door creaked open and Jacques entered with a tray like something out of a hotel commercial. Fresh croissants, fruit, a
