Lauren was leaning against the wall just outside Warren’s office, pretending to scroll through her phone. Her head snapped up the second the door closed behind me.

"Oh, hi again," she said lightly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear like she hadn’t obviously been eavesdropping.

I shot her a sharp look. "You seem to be taking a very long break for someone who’s just started here," I said coolly, brushing past her.
