Vienna’s POV

"Now now, let’s not jump to conclusions," Warren said, stepping in like the eternal mediator. The peacekeeper who always seemed to lean one way: hers.

I clutched Milo to my chest, his little body limp and eerily still. Warren crouched beside me and tried to examine him. But his face remained blank. Unknowing. Useless.

"I don’t know what’s wrong with him," he muttered, his brow furrowed in confusion.

"I bet she does," I said softly, my voice laced with accusation as I gently stroked Milo’s fur.

Desiree sat up from the sofa casually, twirling a strand of hair around her finger. "I just gave him a piece of chocolate," she said, shrugging. "Didn’t expect him to react so badly."

I froze.

"Chocolate?" I repeated slowly, my voice rising. "Are you serious? Chocolate is toxic to animals, Desiree. Deadly. And don't you dare stand there and act like you didn't know that. You wanted him gone the moment you moved in."

She rolled her eyes and groaned. "Oh, here we go again. You always t

Vienna’s POV"Vienna? Is that really you?" Elliot’s voice crackled through the phone speaker, thick with emotion. "Thanks for checking in. Warren’s stable. He’s going to be okay.""I know," I murmured, listening to the soft, steady beeping in the background. "Are you with him right now? Is… Desiree there?""I’m with him, yeah. He’s still unconscious though," Elliot explained. "Desiree’s been here all night, but she just stepped out to grab a coffee. It happened at the party she organised for the Luxe members. Seems like it really shook her, like she feels responsible somehow.""That’s because she is," I said, cold steel lacing my voice."What?" Elliot sounded taken aback. "Vienna, what are you saying?""She drugged him, Elliot," I said flatly, my heart pounding. "I’m practically sure of it."A pause."Vienna…" He sounded cautious now. "That’s a serious accusation. I know you and Desiree have… history. But we don’t know—""Did she leave her bag in the room with you? A clutch or a purse?

  • Regretful Heart: CEO's Tears Over Her Pregnancy   Chapter 178 - Haunted by a Kiss

Vienna’s POVI sat on the couch, staring blankly ahead. The hum of the celebrating city filtered through the walls. But everything felt muted, like I was underwater. If the first moments of this new year were any sign of what was to come… I wasn’t sure I’d be strong enough to face it.A soft nudge from within startled me. I placed a hand on my belly, and there it was again. Another kick."Are you gonna be a little runner, huh?" I whispered with a hollow smile. "Just like your…"My voice faltered. Just like your dad.My throat tightened. Would my son grow up without a father? Would Warren just be a name in stories, a fading photograph, a question in a little boy’s eyes?My heart twisted. Was this something Warren had done to himself? Had I pushed him too far? Or had fate just decided to be cruel, again? My mind spiraled, chasing every possibility, every regret. The last time I’d seen him, he’d looked like a man on the edge—hollow, tired, lost. But I’d still walked away. Was this all my

Vienna’s POVBack inside the club, I spotted Raphaël at the bar, surrounded by a small circle of women. Of course. Wherever he went, attention followed. But the moment his eyes landed on me, something shifted. His smirk faded into something softer—just for me. He stepped away, weaving through their bodies like none of them existed."It’s getting close to midnight," he said with a smirk as he reached me, holding out a glass of alcohol-free champagne. "You ready to start the new year in style?"I smiled, taking the glass. "You bet I am."We clinked glasses and took a sip. Zanele appeared out of nowhere, grinning like the cat who got the cream. "Alright, party people—let’s dance!"The three of us moved onto the dancefloor, the music pulsing beneath our feet. Zanele, ever the mischief-maker, kept nudging me subtly until I was inches from Raphaël. Our eyes met and held, and suddenly we were dancing in sync, bodies swaying together to the rhythm. He looked down at me, something hungry and h

  • Regretful Heart: CEO's Tears Over Her Pregnancy   Chapter 176 - Midnight Maybes

Vienna’s POVRaphaël and Zanele had dragged me out to a New Year’s Eve party. I hadn’t wanted to come. Every part of me just wanted to stay curled up in bed, hidden under a blanket of denial and distraction. Seeing Warren on that bridge had shaken something inside me. I didn’t know what to do with all the feelings that had come crashing in like a tsunami. His words in the bakery, the look in his eyes—so lost, so raw…I couldn’t shake the pity, the confusion, the idea that maybe I should at least give him a chance to explain.Around me, the Parisian club pulsed with music and light. People were dancing, drinking, laughing—drenched in glitter and champagne and the high of counting down to a new year. I felt like I was behind a glass wall, watching it all but not part of it. My hand rested on the curve of my belly protectively. Somehow, the baby was the only one I felt truly connected to tonight."Hey!" Zanele’s voice cut through the music as she suddenly appeared in front of me, eyes s

  • Regretful Heart: CEO's Tears Over Her Pregnancy   Chapter 175 - Dressed to Kill

Desiree’s POVHe came.Of course he did.I sipped from my champagne glass and smiled to myself. I knew my words had struck a nerve when I mentioned the board had been whispering. Warren Hale couldn’t resist an opportunity to save face—even if it meant being in the same room as me.He looked like he was attending a corporate summit, not a New Year’s Eve party. Sharp navy suit, jaw clenched, networking with board members and investors. And of course, he did everything he could to avoid looking in my direction. His loss. I was dressed to kill—or die for.The rooftop bar was shimmering with string lights and gold décor. With heaters lining the space and thick glass protecting us from the winter wind, I was perfectly comfortable in my glittering, backless mini dress. My colleague Heather was rambling beside me. I smiled and nodded occasionally, pretending to listen. But my focus was fixed completely on Warren. He stood across the room, deep in conversation with a group of suited men. I w

  • Regretful Heart: CEO's Tears Over Her Pregnancy   Chapter 174 - Back to Reality

Warren’s POVOn the plane back home, I felt hollow. Absolutely fucking hollow. My body ached with exhaustion. And my chest—God, my chest—felt like someone had scooped out everything inside and shattered it.Vienna had ridden off into the night, with him. Not just any guy. That guy. That sleek, helmeted asshole had swooped in like some kind of twisted, leather-clad guardian angel. And she’d taken his hand. She’d chosen him. When I closed my eyes, I could still see her. The moment she’d stepped under the glow of the streetlamp for just a heartbeat, her hair blowing gently in the wind. She looked… ethereal. Radiant. Her belly round with new life. And yet… she didn’t want to raise that child with me. So much was clear now. Was it because the baby was Fred’s after all? Or just because she hated me?I shifted in my seat and glanced sideways. My father was snoring softly in the next pod, reclined like royalty with a blanket up to his chest.I tried to distract myself. Flicked through the in
