Vienna’s POV

"We’re going to pick up your stuff, and then you’re moving into my house," Bella said firmly as we climbed into a taxi outside the police station.

Her tone left no room for argument. "No more hotels. End of story."

I blinked at her, surprised. "Wait—are you serious?"

She gave me a side glance. "Of course I’m serious. I already told you you’re welcome any time. I just wanted to give you space at first. You needed it."

"Bell, you’re the best." I leaned over and wrapped her in a tight hug. She patted my back with a grin, but her eyes were still clouded with concern.

By the time the taxi pulled up to the hotel, exhaustion was crashing over me like a wave. The adrenaline from everything that had happened—Warren, the police—was finally wearing off.

"I’ll stay here one more night," I said as we stepped out. "I just need a good sleep. I’ll pack in the morning."

"Alright," Bella said with a reluctant nod. "Just… keep your phone on. Call me if that sleazebag shows up again."

Vienna’s POVI didn’t answer Warren right away. I just sat there in silence, my hands folded tightly in my lap, watching as Desiree barked orders at the moving company like she owned the building.Warren’s words echoed in my mind, but I couldn’t quite wrap my head around them. I had felt so certain that divorce was the only way out of this mess."I—I don’t know what to say," I admitted finally, my voice soft and uncertain."That’s alright," he replied gently.Desiree disappeared inside, and I allowed myself a glance at Warren. He sat in silence, his chiseled features bathed in the warm amber glow of the setting sun.His dark hair had grown out a little since I’d last really looked at him. It curled more now at the ends. A faint five o’clock shadow darkened his jaw—less polished than usual, but somehow more striking. There was a quiet ruggedness to him now. A touch of something raw and masculine. He turned to me, catching my glance. His hazel eyes held mine—steady, intense. There was h

Vienna’s POV“Back to the kitchen,” I whispered to myself.I exhaled slowly, straightening my apron and brushing a few stray strands of hair behind my ears. I needed to focus. Personal matters had no place here.Ashley entered the kitchen right behind me, her stride confident. She caught up easily, and we walked side by side toward our workstations.“So…” she said casually, eyes flicking toward me. “Who was that out in the hallway?”“Oh,” I blinked. “My, um… father-in-law.”Her smile brightened with interest. “Oh! You’re married?”I hesitated. “Yes… Well, for now,” I added quickly. “We’re actually in the process of getting divorced.”Her expression shifted instantly, softening. “Oh… I’m sorry to hear that, Vienna.”“Thanks,” I said, keeping my tone light. I appreciated her sympathy, even if I didn’t want to unpack the emotional mess of it all right now.She lingered for another second. Her eyes studied me like she wanted to say more but decided against it. Instead, she gave a small nod

Vienna’s POV“Oh, hello, Mr. Hale,” I replied, breathing through my nose to steady the nauseating swirl in my stomach. “I’m… working here.”Elliot’s salt-and-pepper brows lifted. “Working? At Taste Royalty?” He gave a chuckle of disbelief. “What about the bakery Warren bought for you?”I straightened, trying to maintain poise even as my insides protested. “I still own the bakery. But I’ve appointed Bella—my closest friend—as the full-time manager. She’s more than capable. As for this…” I gestured toward the kitchens behind me. “It’s an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. Taste Royalty has the kind of reach that can elevate my work to the next level. Bigger challenges, more creative freedom.”Elliot nodded slowly, clearly weighing my words. “Progress is a good thing,” he said at last, a pleased smile playing on his lips. “Staying in your comfort zone is the first step toward growing stagnant. I respect this move, Vienna.”“Thank you, sir,” I said with genuine relief.“If I may return th

Vienna’s POVAshley’s voice had been light, but the way she asked it made the question feel less like curiosity and more like an interrogation.“We met by chance at a restaurant,” I said, keeping my tone casual. “We started talking about desserts—textures and flavor balance. The next thing I knew, Fred was sampling my cakes and asking if I’d ever consider joining his team.”Ashley tilted her head, one brow arching. “Just like that?” she asked, her tone hovering somewhere between amused curiosity and subtle disbelief.I gave a modest shrug. “I… guess I impressed him,” I said lightly. She smiled, but it didn’t quite reach her eyes this time.“Well,” she said, smoothing her apron as she turned toward the door. “That is impressive. Not everyone gets tapped like that.”I nodded, catching the unspoken tension. “Yeah. It caught me off guard too.”She gave a soft laugh, her expression brightening. “Well, Fred’s got a good eye. He doesn’t usually go out of his way for just anyone. Congratulatio

Vienna’s POVMy throat tightened. I pressed my palm flat against the cool tile wall, collecting myself.Let them talk.I hadn’t clawed my way through heartbreak, betrayal, and sleepless nights just to let idle whispers ruin my morning.I finished tying my apron and studied myself in the mirror. The custom-fit chef’s uniform hugged my frame perfectly, professional but flattering. My hair, a chestnut braid coiled into an elaborate updo, was pinned neatly beneath the small cap assigned to the pastry chefs. I adjusted it, lifted my chin, and walked out.The kitchen buzzed with activity—ovens humming, chefs calling out times and temperatures. The air was a rich blend of sugar, cream, butter, and espresso.I took a deep breath in. I belonged here.“Oh, Vienna. There you are,” came a voice as cool as the fridge door. My assistant, Nora, offered me a thin smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “Ready for your first full day?”“Hello, Nora,” I said politely. I wasn’t going to let the gossip a

Warren’s POVI stood awkwardly between Noah and Bella. She was giving him one of her classic scolding looks. Noah held up his hands in mock surrender."Hey, wouldn’t you leak a little info if Vienna was in trouble?" he said, flashing a grin that only deepened Bella’s scowl. She scoffed but said nothing. Honestly, Noah had a point.Just then, Vienna returned from the desk where she’d signed the documents. I couldn’t help but stare. Something about her seemed… different. Radiant, even. Her long auburn hair looked fuller than usual, cascading in soft waves that shimmered under the light. Her skin practically glowed, flawless and warm. And her curves… Had they always been that luscious, or was it just the fact that I wasn’t allowed to touch her anymore? I forced myself to look away. Was this glow a sign? Was something going on?And God—did it have anything to do with that damn Fred guy?Vienna’s voice pulled me back."I’m leaving the Crown Hotel a negative review on Yelp," she declared, c

Vienna’s POV“He was totally out of line,” Bella said, her voice low and tense as we sat in the waiting area of the police station. “I know, right?” I muttered, rubbing my temples. “I’m pretty sure he’s drunk. I’ve never seen him like this before. Not even close.”Bella nodded, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. “Heartbreak makes people unravel in the worst ways. Still… it doesn’t excuse this.”I sighed and leaned back against the cold plastic chair. My whole body felt heavy—from exhaustion, from stress, from everything. “It’s just so surreal. He used to be the person I felt safest with. And now I have to file a police report to keep him away from me.”Bella glanced over, her expression softening. “I know, V. But you’re doing the right thing. You’re protecting yourself. And your baby.”Before I could respond, a police officer stepped into the room, holding a clipboard.“Mrs. Hale?” he called out.I stood automatically, but the name caught in my ears like a rock in a shoe. Mrs.

Vienna’s POV"None of this is your business, Warren," I snapped, my voice sharp as a knife. "Now answer my question: how did you find me?!"Warren leaned against the doorframe, looking smug and far too comfortable in a place he had no right to be. "I have my ways," he said, with that same condescending tilt of the head he always used when he wanted to sound superior. My blood boiled. "Your ways? Did you threaten someone? Hack hotel records?""Who cares? I just came to talk," he said, waving a dismissive hand. "Vienna, I gave you everything. The bakery, the car, your damn cat enclosure—"That stopped me cold. "Don’t you dare bring up Milo.""I did so much for you," Warren went on coldly, his voice rising with each word. "And you betrayed me. You cheated on me with that son of a—"I stopped listening. His accusations blurred into noise.Instead, I turned to Bella, my eyebrows lifting in silent question. "Did you…?" I whispered. Her eyes widened, and she shook her head at once, her voice
