Chapter 2

Penulis: Sweet Stick
Displeasure twisted my features. "Ms. Jackson, I gave the cake to Griselda. Is that how you waste my food?"

Polly would walk all over me if I didn't stand my ground as the lady of the house.

Her eyes darted to the side. Then, she collapsed before me, trembling.

"Mrs. Campbell, I'm sorry. It was all my fault. I shouldn't have stepped on Mason's cake by accident. I'll never do it again. I'm begging you, please don't fire me!"

As I was trying to figure out when Polly became so sensitive, I heard someone roar behind me, "Daisy Jameson, you've crossed a line. Ms. Jackson has been working in the family for decades. Are you incapable of offering her even a shred of respect?"

Zachary Campbell strode forward and helped Polly up. Then, the two of them brushed past me and left.

It was as though he was Polly's son.

I'd realized that whenever I showed even the barest modicum of kindness to Griselda, Polly would do her best to school me in front of Zachary.

As the children grew up, Polly could no longer keep up due to her old age. That was when Danielle took over.

One day, Mason got back from school and told me that there would be a parent-teacher conference at school tomorrow. The teacher had instructed him to bring his parents, and that we would be invited to give a speech.

However, Zachary and I were both going on business trips and were thus unavailable.

At the same time, Griselda came home to Danielle with a similar story.

"Mom, I got first place in the examination. The teachers would like you to share some insights on stage," said Griselda timidly. She handed her exam paper to Danielle.

Griselda had gotten full marks.

Danielle didn't even spare her a glance. She mocked, "You got first place? Stop lying. How could Mason score lower than you? He's so intelligent!"

Mason hadn't done as well as Griselda. He hadn't even achieved the average mark for their year.

While Zachary and I had graduated from prestigious universities with Masters, Mason was hopeless when it came to studying. The power of genetics was not to be underestimated.

Griselda steeled herself and yelled, "I'm not lying. Mason didn't even pass his exams. I'd still have a higher total grade than him even if I skipped a paper!"

Ever since she was a child, Danielle and Polly had put her down and mocked her, opting to praise Mason instead.

Although Griselda had finally defeated Mason, Danielle still didn't treat her any better.

Griselda's rebuttal angered Danielle. The pathetic bitch who'd lived like a beggar under her for years was rebelling against her authority.

Without hesitation, she grabbed a broom and whacked Griselda with it.

Griselda ran through the mansion, throwing whatever she could reach while crying out of frustration.

Danielle chased after her while panting. It was Mason who stepped in and held her down.

"I'm not who I am if I don't beat you to death today!"

Rage was evident in Danielle's eyes as she hit Griselda, not stopping even when Griselda fainted.

Mason had to call the ambulance afterward.

Danielle didn't want to go with Griselda to the hospital, so she sent Polly instead.

"Ms. Jackson, what cardinal rule has Griselda broken to warrant such a gruesome beating? You're so cruel to your own daughter. You're not beating Sonny up while we're gone, are you?"

I scanned Danielle from head to toe. Zachary stood up for her, saying, "Daisy, Danielle isn't that kind of person. She and Polly serve us with all their hearts. Griselda was disobedient, which caused Danielle's fury to boil over and hit harder than she intended to. If you think of her like that, you're invalidating the bonds we've built with them!"

Danielle stood behind Zachary with tears streaming down her face. Her eyes seemed to say, "I've already lived such a troubled life, only to be treated so abhorrently by my boss. Just let me die."

"Zachary and I were going to send you to the parent-teacher conference tomorrow as we're too busy. Now that Griselda has been gravely injured, you probably won't have time to go either. I'll tell the teachers to cancel our speech!"

The word 'azoospermia' seemed to have burned Zachary's eyes, humiliating him to no end.Everyone knew what this diagnosis meant—there was no sperm when he ejaculated. Zachary knew I wouldn't forge a document, so the truth was evident.Mason wasn't his son and he would never have a child of his own. Danielle had lied to him. Zachary was livid. He strode toward her and slapped Danielle. By the time the police arrived, her face was swollen. "Bitch! You're a shameless bitch! You've fooled me! Daisy and I were married, but we failed to get pregnant. You were the one who told me you were pregnant all of a sudden. You even claimed that you didn't want her to deliver my child. You bloody proposed that horrible idea! If it hadn't been for you, would I have needed to resort to such tactics? You fucking bitch! You've ruined my life."He ranted as he struggled against the police, trying to land another hit. Danielle wailed till her eyes swelled up. Due to the chaos of the situation, t

"I'm telling all of you now. When I realized that Mason wasn't my child, I did a DNA test with Griselda as well. The results astounded me as she isn't related to me either."However, I know I've never cheated on Zachary before. Thus, I did a DNA test for Zachary and Griselda as well. The results were the same. "Here's the problem. Why was I pregnant with a child I wasn't related to? This was why I had to lay in wait. I needed to confirm what was going on."Everyone knows that Zachary doesn't love me. It's understandable that he wouldn't allow me to get pregnant with his child. So, why did I get pregnant? As I spoke, I strode toward Zachary. Under my threatening glare, he backed away from me. "Mr. Campbell, can you answer the question?" His lips trembled. Zachary said nothing. "It looks like Mr. Campbell is feeling unwell. I'll answer the question for him, then. Because he did not love me, he implanted a fetus within me. Perhaps it was because the love of his life was alread

"Stop talking as though you sacrificed everything for me. You did everything willingly. Let me be honest with you. If not for the betrothal gift I was promised, I would not have married you! "You're the type of person I loathe the most—spoiled, rich girls who grew up pampered. You were meant to suffer under my hand. “You should've told me that you found out about my affair. Danielle and I wouldn't have had to keep things on the down low for such a long time. How could you be so unthoughtful?" The beginning of our relationship bloomed from his class feud. Our two decades together were a huge joke. "You've never really loved me. Is that what you're saying?" Perhaps I didn't want to admit I'd loved a horrible man. Thus, I asked the question that plagued me. From my wounded look, Zachary thought that I was trying to win him back. He cackled. "Dumbass! If not for the fact that I could exploit you, I would've dumped you a long time ago." He was just a poor kid who stumbled in

"What a tortured life this child has lived. If she hadn't been born in the Campbells, she would not have experienced such horrors." Danielle's true colors were aired to the public, making her feel like her head was about to be split open."Daisy, you bitch! How dare you stalk me? Turn it off." Danielle rushed forward and attempted to destroy the computer. Yet, she couldn't even reach it. "Are you getting into a tizzy already? We're just getting started. The good stuff is yet to come!" I slowly opened up another folder. A pair of lovers was shown on the screen, tangled up in each other. They were in the staff's quarters. As they changed positions, the man turned to the camera. It was Zachary. "Wow! Just as I'd expected. The nanny is involved with her employer!" "Mr. Campbell must be an idiot. Not only is he stupid, but he must be blind as well. His gorgeous wife wasn't enough for him. Yet, he had to cheat on her with the nanny." They had christened every corner of the

"Mom and I are merely employees. We gave everything we had to Griselda. Yet, she rebelled against us and even tried to beat us up! We're all victims. Griselda was the one behind all this!" It was hilarious. I chuckled out loud. Danielle tortured Griselda extensively. Yet, she was still shameless enough to insist she'd sacrificed everything for Griselda. The half-crazed glint in my eyes made Danielle cower in an attempt to hide her diffidence. "Mrs. Campbell, even if Mom and I haven't been able to offer the best services, at least we tried our hardest. Mason and Griselda were born around the same time. We took care of them around the clock. "Even when we had no idea that Mason was our son, we prioritized him over Griselda. We gave our utmost loyalty to you guys. Look at what you've done now. Mom cared for Griselda all these years, only to die a gruesome death. Doesn't that weigh on your conscience?"It was a pity Danielle wasn't in the entertainment industry. She was a stella

The people in the room were stunned by the revelations coming one after another. Everyone only went downstairs to see what was going on when police sirens started blaring. When the lifts arrived at the hall, the police had put up yellow tape around the surroundings. It was over. There was no way anyone could survive falling down a building of 20 stories. Zachary broke down as he rushed over, wailing, "That's my daughter. Griselda has been living like a beggar for her whole life. She didn't even get the chance to call me Dad. She was only eighteen and died such a gruesome death…"While everyone still focused on him, he punched himself in a show of guilt. "It was all my fault. I failed to recognize you and caused you to suffer for more than a decade. I'll accompany you in your death right now!"A few people surged forward quickly to stop him. Zachary cried till his knees went weak. He only managed to stand up after two burly men helped him up. My calmness made me look downr
