After everything with Petrov was finally over, I decided it was time to move. I couldn't stay in this apartment anymore.

It served its purpose, but the longer I remained there, the more uncomfortable I became. Petrov's men watched the place for weeks, and even though the debt was settled, I had no idea whether they would continue keeping an eye on me. Besides, the apartment had never really felt like mine.

There was something else that bothered me.

The landlord hadn't come asking for rent.

  • Reincarnated Assassin    Chapter 41

As usual, August insisted that they eat first. Avery stared at him for a moment, wondering what his obsession was with always having to eat before discussing business. It had happened during their previous meeting, and now he was doing it again. She had come prepared to discuss the information she had gathered, yet somehow, they had ended up ordering food before getting to the actual reason for their meeting. Was he stalling? The thought made her narrow her eyes slightly. As a matter of fact, the whole thing felt suspiciously like a date. They were sitting in a private room at a restaurant, having dinner together, and August had already complimented her appearance. If she didn't know better, she would have thought he had deliberately arranged the entire evening to spend time with her. Avery shook her head. Was Petrov actually tricking her into going on a date with him? She glanced at the man sitting across from her. August appeared perfectly comfortable, looking throug

  • Reincarnated Assassin    Chapter 40

Marcus sent the information by noon, and Avery immediately sat down to go through it. She had been waiting for the details since their conversation that morning. Emily Grant was becoming increasingly interesting, and Avery wanted to understand exactly how she was connected to the people who had been targeted before making her next move. She opened the files and began reading. Just as she had suspected, Emily had a habit of appearing around people who were looking for potential business partners. She would somehow find her way into their circles, often presenting herself as someone who could connect them to profitable opportunities. At first glance, there was nothing particularly suspicious about it. Emily seemed like an ordinary woman with connections, someone who knew the right people and understood how to bring businesses together. But the outcomes told a different story. After her appearances, some of those people ended up dead. Others watched their businesses slowly fall apa

Everywhere was dark. Dalia looked down at her hands, examining them slowly and for a moment, she didn't understand what she was seeing. These were her hands....her old hands as an assassin. she could feel it from how hardened they were. She turned them over, staring at them as if she were seeing them for the first time. The familiar shape of her fingers, the small marks she knew by heart, everything was exactly as she remembered. She was back in her old body. The realization came with a strange feeling in her chest. Then she tried to move but nothing happened. Avery frowned and tried again, putting more effort into it this time. Still nothing. It felt like there was an invisible force was holding her in place. She could move her hand or legs and she couldn't even turn her head properly. "What..." Before she could finish the thought, pain exploded at the back of her head. Something......no , someone hit her. Hard. Her vision immediately became unsteady and she lost her balance

Petrov's eyes never left hers. There was something in the way he looked at her that Avery couldn't explain. It wasn't the cold, calculating stare she had become familiar with whenever they discussed business. It wasn't the look of a man trying to intimidate her either. There was something softer in it. Something that made her uncomfortable for an entirely different reason. He leaned back slightly in his chair, but his attention remained fixed on her. "I'll be honest with you, Avery. I really do like you, and I can't explain why I am doing this either. But I know you are reluctant to have anything with me, and I respect that. I really do." Avery almost laughed. Reluctant? Ha. "You had—" Petrov cut her off before she could finish. "I know." His voice was quieter now. "I had my men beat you up, and I understand that I hurt you. But if it makes a difference, I punished those men. It was never supposed to go that far. Just a little scare to make you work faster."

  • Reincarnated Assassin    Chapter 37

After much deliberation, Avery finally decided to call Petrov. She had spent enough time going through the information she had found, and Emily Grant was too important to keep to herself. Thankfully, Petrov had left her a number to call whenever she had any leads. Avery picked up her phone and dialed. The call rang. And rang. No answer. She stared at the screen for a moment before lowering the phone. She wasn't going to call again. If Petrov was busy, he would eventually see that she had called. He had her number now, so he could call her back when he was available. That was his problem. Avery placed the phone down and glanced toward the kitchen. She was hungry. Actually, she was more than hungry. She had spent the past two days buried in information, barely paying attention to what she was eating. Most of her meals had been whatever junk she could grab quickly while working. Tonight, she wanted something proper. She decided to cook. By the time she finished preparing

After Petrov had eaten his fill, Avery waited patiently. She had no intention of reminding him that he had insisted on eating before they discussed business. She simply sat across from him, watching as he finally placed his fork down. Now that he was finished, she expected answers. She leaned back in her chair and folded her arms."So, what do you know about Luthor?"Petrov's expression immediately became serious."From my investigation, which took a lot of time because this guy basically made himself nonexistent, he is attacking everyone he can to gain more power."Avery listened without interrupting.Petrov continued slowly, choosing his words carefully."It's a smart strategy because you cannot go after someone you don't know."Avery frowned. That was the problem.Luthor wasn't leaving enough behind for anyone to trace him directly. Everything they knew about him came from rumors. She leaned further back in her chair."So how do we find him then? Because if the only lead we have is
