Chapter 7- Training Little Kitty

Caden said he was very excited when his owner said he will train him, but upon arriving at the place the other was talking about, his claws which he had never once used after he had accidentally hurt his owner is again stretch out trying to cling and remain to his owner's clothes, refusing to let go.

"Meow!" Caden's voice was normally sticky, but with the rasps in his tone, it is not usually that cute and pleasant to hear, rather it can be somewhat terrifying with how low his voice was. But now, his terrified cries for help and the imposing tone in his call can only be called beastly and dangerous. It made the other familiar beasts nearby go closer to their masters.

As the person being the reason for his cries, Evan was indifferent as he give his bought beast to the person responsible for the registration of the beast.

"A-Ahm--- gentleman, I don't think your familiar is in the right shape to participate. Although we cannot guarantee their safety and life in the arena, we cannot allow a hysteric beast in the very beginning to perform." Caden was still calling out in a very aggressive way, his claws stretched out penetrating deeply to the other's clothes that they could even rip even the hardest protective gear inside, fortunately, Evan was prepared and didn't continue pulling him away from his clothes seeing his aggression getting stronger. Caden on the other hand was holding back so much not to hurt the other. He remembered how he hurt his owner before and doesn't want to repeat such a thing anymore.

"No need to measure his ability, just set him up to whoever he can duel against today." That said, Evan put the registration money at the reception desk and didn't bother anymore with the person. He left to go to the waiting area with his still struggling beast on his clothes.

The man sighed. Such a tiny beast was given to a heartless owner, the registration personnel felt a bit of sympathy for the struggling beast. Well, in this world, Familiar beasts are only tools, such cruel people like him existed in every part of the world.

Caden saw his owner wasn't moved by his actions and thought--- he wanted him to die, doesn't he? How can he set him up to any beast just like that if it's otherwise? If he was set up to someone very powerful like that grizzly bear, wouldn't he die without even trying?

Strength left his body and he wept silently. He was wrong, this person is not just moody, he is also cruel!

"What? Done throwing tantrums? Then hurry up and tidy yourself, prepare to train your duel later." Caden didn't make a sound this time. He thought it over and over again. This is now the life he should be living. His owner isn't just his owner, this world isn't like his former world. This world treats beasts, like he is now, as weapons, and tools, they can use and exploit on their own. He doesn't know anyone besides his owner, but his owner wanted someone powerful. Not a cute beast for display, he needs to remind himself this world doesn't need a beast that can only be up for display. He has to show his worth. He has to show him what he can do, so he will not be abandoned... and be killed.

Thinking up to this point, Caden looked over and saw just in time a hamster bigger than his kitten body hurled to the net fence by a half-a-meter big brown bear. The crowd of cheers on the bleachers resounded to the whole arena.

His furs stood on end and he immediately retreated back to his owner whom he just snubbed earlier.

Terrible, that is terrible! I really don't want to fight! He doesn't even have any skills besides dodging and escaping. His fighting skill is the same as his cuteness, nonexistent.

"You are also a beast, what are you afraid for?"

Even beasts are afraid of death and pain! Caden wants to retort back, but he is not capable of speaking, he can only look at him with his emerald green eyes.

They said that when you look at the eyes of an animal, you will somehow see how they feel.

His owner suddenly said, "In this world, either you kill or be killed, most especially to a beast like you. You want to be useful to me? Then train yourself to be powerful. You can understand me, right? Then you know that there's not a place for a beast like you, intelligent or not, to stay in the mortal world." He look at his eyes and saw his eyes glint with a golden glow.

"Everyone can exploit your weakness, try to control you, kick you when you are down and trample you when you fall. Only when you are powerful enough can you have a good ending. Besides, don't you want to go back to your world? I know you don't even know where to begin with, so you can only stay by my side, but to stay by my side, you  have to be useful and powerful enough."

Caden was shocked. So his owner knew he doesn't even know the way back to the Spirit Realm? He never ask him, he just assumed. But why?

Soon, he understand when he remembered what the merchant boss said back then. Without a contract, you can never tame any beast, even the smallest and most harmless beast will never obey you when you are not contracted with them, not to mention a beast like him who displayed outstanding intelligence and can understand human language. He doesn't know how the contract between a beast and a human was formed, but he is very sure that he is not bound to anyone. The fact that he stayed and remained with him despite not having a contract between them, if he was just a beast with intelligence who wants to go back home only, he surely had something he wanted from his owner. With these insufficient details, his owner deduced this information very naturally. Although not in line with his real reason as he is not a person in this world and also a human in nature, to be able to come up with that kind of conclusion from the perspective of the beast, Caden was still astonished.

"Done thinking with that small head of yours? Then prepare yourself. You only have until tomorrow to rest, for a month, we will be staying here to train your instincts and your skills." Only then can he take this small beast with him.

Caden knew it can only be like this and deflated on his owner's embrace. On instinct, he rubbed his head to his owner's hand. When he said about what the people in this world can do to a small beast like him, he knew it was real. Not because he is a human who can understand the hearts of his fellow human, but for him to say it with that kind of suppressed tone and almost tangible emotions, there's no way his owner had never experienced it beforehand. He suddenly wondered what kind of life his owner experienced back then. Surely it wouldn't be pleasant.

"You're up." When he heard his owner's voice, he straightened his limbs, shake his fur, and yawned, but his emerald green eyes were shining with vitality.
