I stood frozen in place.

In my past life, Ivy had also died from kidney failure after a rogue attack, unable to find a suitable donor in time.

If Ethan had only shown me cold mockery before, after this incident, he'd truly begun to hate me.

But this was supposed to happen a month after our mating ceremony. Why had it moved up so much?

I'd been wondering how to fulfill Ethan's third wish.

Now the opportunity had presented itself.

I looked at him. "So you came here to ask me to save her?"

Since childhood, my body had been special. My blood and organs were compatible with all werewolves. It's why I'd wanted to become the werewolf world's chief healer—to use my abilities to save more of our kind. I'd also hoped it would help me support Ethan better. Because I'd given my blood to save others so often, my body was weaker than most wolves. Only Ethan knew this secret.

Ethan laughed bitterly, shocked and furious. "You think I wouldn't dare ask? You owe her this. If you hadn't complained to my parents, she wouldn't have been distracted and gotten hurt."

He grabbed my wrist and dragged me toward the hospital.

At the hospital, I immediately ran a full examination on Ivy. She was critically injured. Only a kidney transplant could save her.

The nurses frowned deeply. "There's no way to find a compatible kidney donor this quickly. Even if we got lucky and found one, we don't know if the patient can hold on that long."

I looked up at Ethan. His gaze was fixed on the person in the hospital bed. When he saw Ivy's pale face, his eyes filled with undeniable heartbreak.

Seeing this, I volunteered to donate my kidney to Ivy. I knew mine would be compatible.

A nurse gasped and tried to stop me. "Your body is already weak! A kidney transplant would be too much strain. You might permanently lose your wolf!"

I just smiled. "It's fine. I'll recover with some rest. Saving her is what matters."

A healer burst out of the emergency room, shouting, "The patient can't hold on much longer! Do we have a compatible kidney or not?"

I urged the nurse forward. She said gratefully, "Miss, you're so kind. The patient will be very grateful when she wakes up."

"You..." Ethan started to speak, then stopped. "I'll compensate you for this."

The anesthesia flowed into my bloodstream. I smiled at him weakly.

"It's okay. I'm doing this willingly."

He'd risked his life to save me three times. What did it matter if I protected his beloved once?

But I'd underestimated the consequences of the surgery.

When I opened my eyes again, I was lying in a hospital bed. My wounds had been treated, but when I called to my wolf, she didn't respond. I tried desperately to sense her. Thankfully, she was still there, but unconscious. I didn't know when she'd wake up.

Ethan was nowhere to be seen. Everyone was busy rushing around. No one noticed I'd just woken up.

I looked up and saw the clock on the wall. Only one hour left before I'd return to the past.

The hospital's small TV was replaying last night's once-in-a-century blood moon.

The blood moon was beautiful. It was just a shame I'd missed it again.

Of course. Wishes that belonged to me were never meant to come true.

I stared blankly until I heard footsteps beside me, followed by Ethan's tired but joyful voice.

"You're awake. Ivy woke up too. Thank god you came in time to donate your kidney last night."

I turned to look at him. "Good."

When he saw my pale face, he froze, then spoke awkwardly.

"You've been through a lot. I said some harsh things last night, but you really shouldn't have complained to my parents. She has nothing to do with our situation."

His words made my heart ache.

He always misunderstood me like this. If this were before my rebirth, I would have defended myself with tears in my eyes.

But now, with our separation imminent and no future intersection between our lives, whether he misunderstood me no longer mattered.

Then Ethan spoke up voluntarily. "I promised to watch the blood moon with you, and I failed to keep that promise. I remember you once said you wanted to see the northern lights. In a few days, let me take you to Finland."

I was surprised for a moment that he still remembered, then shook my head.

"That's not necessary."

For once, Ethan wasn't sarcastic. He pulled out his phone and immediately booked tickets for five days later.

"I understand you're angry with me. I've booked the flights. Once you've recovered in a few days, we'll go on our honeymoon."

"It's not necessary, Ethan."

The most important person? The intensity in his eyes, the way he'd leaned forward like he was about to say something more—it had all been too much.I'd stared at him continuously, trying to process what he'd just said. The implications. The sacrifice he'd made.Seeing my stare, Ethan's ears had turned red and he'd coughed awkwardly, suddenly looking more like the boy I used to know."I saw you liked photos of moon flowers on Facebook the other day," he'd said, his words coming out in a rush. "I've prepared a surprise for you tonight. When the time comes, you...""Ethan."I'd gently interrupted him, and seeing my expression was off, he'd quickly started backtracking."Don't you like moon flowers? I'm sorry, I'll rearrange everything right now. What would you like to see? Fireworks? Fountains? I can call the event planner—""Ethan, stop."He'd looked very nervous then, that humble, eager-to-please expression exactly like how I used to be. The role reversal had been painful to witness."W

His mother spat in disgust, her face twisting with contempt. "Evil gets its reward. Even though she was saved from that injury, her life isn't going well now."She leaned forward, lowering her voice like she was sharing pack gossip. "I heard she tried to be someone's mistress recently and got caught by the original mate. She was beaten badly—black eye, broken ribs, the works. Now everyone on the street shuns her. No decent pack will take her in."His father shook his head grimly. "She made her bed with all those lies and manipulations. Now she has to lie in it."I sighed, agreeing with his father's sentiment. "What goes around comes around. Good and evil always get their due.""Exactly," his mother continued, her voice getting more animated. "And you know what the worst part is? She's been trying to contact Ethan again. Can you believe the audacity? After everything she put him through, she still thinks she can crawl back."My stomach tightened at that news. "Has she... has she succeed

I blinked, focusing on the young woman standing beside my desk. Sarah, one of my graduate students. She had concerned brown eyes and was holding my phone out to me."How long was I...?" I started to ask."About ten minutes," she said gently. "You seemed to zone out during our research discussion. Are you feeling alright? You look pale."I realized I was in my university office, not my bedroom. The memories were still settling, reality and recollection blurring together."I'm fine," I said, taking the phone from her. "Just tired. Thank you, Sarah."She nodded but didn't leave immediately. "The caller ID says 'Mom.' Should I tell her you'll call back?"I snapped back to reality completely and gently thanked her. "No, I'll take it. Could you give me a moment?"She nodded and stepped out, closing the door behind her.The caller was Mom—Ethan's mother, who'd raised me as her own. I immediately answered."Rachel, dear, I hope I'm not interrupting your classes."Her warm voice brought instant

After leaving the hospital, I felt an obsession driving me home. My legs moved on autopilot through the empty streets. The world around me felt surreal, like I was walking through a dream.I knew it was time. Time to return. When I opened my eyes again, everything felt wrong. The light streaming through my window was too bright, the air too clean. I instinctively reached for the wall to steady myself, my head spinning violently. My temples throbbed with sharp, stabbing pains. It felt like someone was driving nails into my skull.I realized I was back—twelve years later. But this time, history had changed. The room looked different. Instead of the sparse, clinical space I remembered, there were warm touches everywhere. Photos on the nightstand. Books scattered on the desk. A coffee mug with "World's Best Professor" printed on it.This wasn't the life I remembered living.A flood of new memories suddenly crashed into my mind like a tsunami. They hit me so hard I gasped, clutching my hea

His mother's voice rose to a furious shriek through the phone speaker. "You shameless woman! How dare you trample on someone else's love like this? Aren't you afraid the Moon Goddess will punish you?"The recording crackled with static as Ivy's voice came through, dripping with contempt and amusement."Punish me? Please. I'm just smart enough to know what I want and how to get it. Your precious son is nothing but a lovesick puppy who comes running every time I crook my finger."Ethan's face went ashen. His hands clenched into fists at his sides."The funniest part," Ivy continued in the recording, "is watching him throw away that pathetic girl who actually loves him. Rachel is so boring and predictable. At least with Ethan, I get entertainment value watching him suffer."The other person laughed scornfully, and the recording cut off abruptly.Ethan stood there stunned, his world tilting on its axis. His breathing became shallow and rapid. This was completely different from what he'd im

The thermos bowl crashed to the floor with a deafening clang.Ethan's face went completely white. His hands shook violently as he stared at his beta assistant."What did you say!" His voice came out as a strangled roar that echoed down the hospital corridor. His heart felt like it had been struck by a sledgehammer. Sharp, crushing pain shot through his chest, making it hard to breathe. The world around him seemed to tilt and blur."Alpha, please calm down," his assistant said nervously, glancing around at the staring medical staff. "The situation is—""No!" Ethan cut him off, his voice breaking.Ethan forced himself to stay calm, though his entire body was trembling. "Where is she now? Take me to see her immediately!"His assistant scrambled to lead the way, practically running to keep up with Ethan's frantic pace. When they reached the hospital room, Ethan shoved the door open so violently it slammed against the wall with a bang."Wait, Alpha, you can't go in there right now!"A head
