ALPHA GIOVANNI

“A spy?” Evelyn’s voice was a mix of surprise and curiosity.

We stood on the rooftop, the moonlight casting a soft glow over the Pack members’ houses below. Their windows twinkled like stars. I glanced at Evelyn, the night wind gently lifting her hair.

“Not just that,” I replied, my gaze drifting toward the dark woods. “There’s been trouble with some strange creatures tearing through our farmland. I wanted you to check it out, but I canceled the assignment. I was worried something bad might happen.”

I met her bright blue eyes, and a rush of memories flooded back—rescuing her from the woods five years ago. She had captured my heart that day, and even now, standing beside her, I felt the same pull.

Evelyn nodded, a sigh escaping her lips. "Then we have to do something about it. I could round up the other Pack workers to check which farms were damaged."

"You're right, but we managed to catch one of them," I replied.

Her eyes sparkled with excitement. "That's a good start

EVEYLN“Evelyn, what is this?”Reuben’s voice echoed down the hallway, sounding sharp and confused. He looked straight at me, clearly wanting an explanation. Before I could say anything, he grabbed my hand and pulled me into an empty office, closing the door behind us. Giovanni and John stayed outside, watching silently. He faced me with a serious look. “You’re not part of our pack anymore? You’re not a Pack Advisor?”His words hit hard, and my stomach turned. I looked away, lips pressed together.“Where did you hear that?” I asked softly. “Did they even tell you what really happened?”His jaw tightened. “Why didn’t you tell me?”“You were busy with all the preparations,” I said, crossing my arms. “I didn’t want to trouble you with it.”He looked even more frustrated. I let out a slow breath and shook my head.“You’d rather stay in the house of a married man than accept the offer of an Alpha from a powerful pack?” “I already told Giovanni I’m not interested. And now he has a girlfrie

EVEYLN“Why is he even part of this conversation?” I asked, glancing at John.He kept his eyes on the road, his voice low. “Because something’s off.”We were talking about Carlo’s disappearance as we drove to the company for the scheduled meeting.Once we arrived, John parked the car in the lot. The engine cut off, and he stepped out, his expression tight.“What are you planning to do about Solomon?” I asked as I joined him.He let out a tired sigh. “I don’t know yet. I don’t even know where he is.”I gave a small nod."What if he went back to the hospital to see Mimi," I asked. "Mimi is already discharged and in the Packhouse, no one knows about it even you of all people,""Jeez, you would have told me, but anyways so far she's safe,"We walked into the building, greeted by a chorus of polite hellos from the staff, just like always.I walked into Simone’s office and nodded politely when I saw him at his desk.“They’re already in the meeting,” he said without looking up. “Just show t

GIOVANNI"What the hell do you mean you haven’t seen Carlo yet?" I barked. The warriors stood stiffly before me, heads bowed, eyes glued to the floor. This mess had been haunting my nights, keeping sleep just out of reach. Half a week had passed before I even learned he was the one who took the ledger. Half a damn week."But don’t worry," Ezra said, stepping forward with confidence. "My investigation led me to a Pack. I traced his steps, I’ll bring you news before the day ends."I eyed him for a moment. The new guy. No wonder things were starting to make sense ever since he was involved in the investigation."Look at this!" I snapped, glaring at the others. "Ezra’s barely joined, and he’s already doing his job better than any of you blockheads. Now get out!"They muttered apologies, heads still low, and shuffled out one by one.Ezra turned to leave too. I gave him a small nod, and he returned it silently before disappearing down the hall. I turned to the living room as I sighted two

EVEYLN After I led her out from the room behind the hall, the crowd burst into applause. She walked gracefully and took her seat, the one meant for the Luna. I forced a smile, covering the confusion still twisting in my chest from what had just happened. My eyes scanned the crowd and stopped on Giovanni... and a woman beside him. My brows furrowed. Why does she look so familiar? It hit me, she was the same woman he brought to the Annual Meeting. He had the nerve to judge John for bringing me instead of his Luna. But wait, it wasn’t just that. There was something else, her face. I’d seen it somewhere else.“All rise for the newly crowned Luna!” the announcer declared loudly. The room stirred. Chairs scraped back and everyone stood. The applause grew thunderous.I turned toward my brother just as he lowered the crown onto her head. A true smile finally found its way to my lips. They looked perfect together, the way he smiled at her, the way her eyes followed him, it was enough to make

EVEYLN The hall was breathtaking. Soft lights glowed against polished floors, and gold-trimmed decorations gave the room a regal touch. It felt like we’d stumbled into an exclusive party. Only two other guests had arrived, wandering the space with the same curious gaze as us."Remove your hands," I said, nudging John beside me.He raised an eyebrow, smirking. "I think you should remove yours first."I glanced down and realized he was right. My hands were still on his. I quickly pulled them back as he let out a small scoff."This is so amazing," John said, his eyes still scanning the grand setup.I nodded. "I’ll be right back," I told him.He gave me a reassuring smile. "I can manage."I rolled my eyes and turned toward the hallway leading to the back of the palace. That’s where they were getting the Luna ready. I pushed open the door quietly and stepped inside. There she was, standing in front of a tall mirror, admiring her dress—a stunning gown of shimmering navy blue and gold that

EVEYLNHours had passed since my meeting with Mimi. I wandered back and forth in my room, the soft rustle of my dress brushing against the carpet. The door creaked open as a few maids wheeled in racks of gowns, their colors glinting under the light. I stood there, arms crossed, eyes scanning the rows of fabric, unsure of what to wear.My phone buzzed, breaking the silence. I glanced at the screen, Winnie. A smile tugged at my lips as I answered."Don’t you know you’re supposed to be here before anyone else?" she scolded playfully.I let out a breath, half-laughing. "Relax, I’m still trying to pick out something to wear. I’ll get there before everyone else, I promise. But... can I ask you something?""What’s bothering my favorite girl?" she asked, her tone softening."Will Giovanni be there?""Of course," she replied without hesitation. "He’s one of the special guests. Even John’s coming, I'm inviting him because of you. Reuben wasn’t exactly thrilled about it, though."l nodded slowly

EVEYLNMimi stood frozen, her head bowed so low her chin nearly touched her chest. Then, slowly, she dropped to her knees. I shook my head, heart aching at the sight.“No, dear, stand up,” I said softly, walking toward her.She shook her head quickly, pushing my hands away with trembling fingers. “No... I can’t.”Her voice cracked as she looked up at me, eyes glassy with tears. “I’ve done things, things I don’t even deserve forgiveness for. But please, Evelyn... forgive me. I did it for my son. They promised full treatment for him. I thought he’d finally get better.” She choked on her words. “But when I found out they never paid a dime, it was too late... I had no choice.”She broke into sobs as she wiped her tears and she crawled closer, desperate for my forgiveness. I stood still, unable to speak. A long sigh escaped me as I looked down at her. “Come on, sit down on the bed first,” I said gently, guiding her. “You’re not discharged yet, and you’re still healing. Don’t stress yourse

DIANE“Pick up your call!” I shouted, stabbing Giovanni’s number on the screen again. Nothing. The call wouldn’t go through.“Are you seriously ignoring me? Pick up your damn phone!” I snapped, my voice rising with each word. With a growl, I hurled the phone to the floor. It clattered against the tiles and slid under the table.“Ahhhhhh!” I screamed, dragging both hands through my hair, tugging at the roots. My chest rose and fell in sharp bursts. This couldn’t be real. I had planned everything, every detail perfect, every step designed to fall in my favor. And now John of all people was ruining it?I grabbed my car keys and stormed out of the house, slipping into the driver’s seat and speeding off.How the hell did they get the footage? Was it that snake, Andrew? But I deleted it, wiped my face clean from it. So how could they possibly have it?When I reached the Nightshade Pack, I parked and stepped out of the car. Eyes turned toward me. Some people stared like I was a walking scand

EVEYLNI didn’t understand what John was trying to do until he turned to Diane.“What nonsense,” Diane snapped.“Let me make this clear,” John said. “If you ever call a meeting like this again without telling me, I won’t overlook it next time.”He rose to his feet. Diane was shaking, her fists clenched, her chest rising and falling quickly. As John stepped forward, she suddenly spoke again.“I hope you all see the kind of man he is,” she said, voice trembling. “This is just a part of what I’ve been living through. And I’m still here. Still surviving.”She paused, wiping at her face. “We haven’t even talked about how… how he lets his mistress lay hands on me. Just because I can’t bear children.” Her voice broke. “Who knows what she did to me to make me this way?”She sank into her chair, crying softly. Around the table, the elders looked at her with pity. One sighed. Another shook his head. All six sat quietly, swayed by the sadness in her face. “Alpha John, we, the elders have come t
