Chapter Four – The Lies
Axel’s POV The morning sun hadn’t even touched the mountains when I got out of bed. Sleep didn’t come easily last night. Not after what happened. I stood by the window, arms folded, watching the forest sway in the early wind. The girl… Nora. I had saved her life, but I couldn’t stop thinking about her. About her face. Her scent. Her tears. Something was off. I didn’t trust easily, and definitely not strangers who just showed up at the border getting attacked by rogues. It felt too clean. Too perfect. Why was she alone? Why did the rogues find her? Why did she look… like her? I shut my eyes tightly and pushed that thought away. Lillian. That name had no place in my mind anymore. But the more I tried to forget, the more it came back. The resemblance was sharp. Not just the face—but the way she looked at me, the softness, the fear. It stirred something in me I had buried long ago. “Alpha Axel,” a voice said behind me. I turned. It was Rafe, one of my top guards. “Go find out about the girl,” I ordered without greeting. “Everything. Her name, her past, the pack she came from. I want to know if she’s a spy or just another lost soul.” Rafe nodded quickly, almost too quickly. “Do you mean Nora Thorne?” I froze. I hadn’t told him her name. I narrowed my eyes. “You know her?” He looked away for a second, then gave a short nod. “No No… i don’t know her, she just look… look a bit familar? “Familiar how?” I demanded, stepping closer. “Have you met her before? Or is someone feeding you information?” Rafe hesitated. “Not really, I am not sure, I don’t know her” “Then go confirm it. And bring me the truth.” He bowed and left quickly. I didn’t like the look in his eyes. There was something hidden behind that calm face of his. Something I needed to dig out. But first… the girl. I opened the door to the guest room and stepped in. The scent of healing herbs filled the air. Nora was sitting up in bed, her long hair falling around her shoulders. She looked tired. Pale. Weak. But still… too familiar. She looked up at me and froze, her lips parting slightly. “Alpha…” she whispered. I didn’t reply. I just stared. She dropped her gaze. Her fingers fidgeted with the bedsheet. “You’re awake,” I said flatly. She nodded. “Yes. Thank you for—” “Who are you?” I cut in, stepping forward. She blinked. “I—I told the healer. My name is Nora Thorne.” “Where are you from?” “Ashmoon Pack.” The same pack my father had dealings with years ago. “What were you doing at the edge of our border?” “I was running,” she said softly. “I was being chased. The rogues found me before I could find help.” “Why were the rogues after you?” “I don’t know,” she said quickly. “I swear, I don’t know.” “You didn’t call them?” I asked coldly. She looked up in shock. “What?” “You didn’t lead them here to get close to me?” My voice turned sharp. “You didn’t plan this entire act so I’d find you and feel sorry for you?” Her eyes widened. “No! No, I didn’t! I swear! I didn’t even know this was your land, I didn’t even know anything about you before now” I stared hard at her. She didn’t break eye contact. But the fear was real. Or it looked real. And still, I didn’t trust her. “Why do you look like her?” I asked suddenly. She blinked, confused. “Look like who?” I didn’t answer. I turned and walked to the window. My hands were balled into fists. Was she sent to me? Was this fate messing with me again? Was it a trick? I whirled on her. "Tell me the truth. All of it. Now." She shook her head, tearful. "I have nothing to hide. I just wanted to live. That's all." I didn't get a chance to push her further when there was a knock at the door. "Come in," I barked. Rafe came in. He bowed briefly, then glanced at Nora. "Well?" I demanded. "She was banished from Ashmoon Pack," he answered reluctantly. Nora's head snapped up. "What?" I tried talking to Rafe. "Why?" He looked straight at me and told me, "She cheated on one of the elders while she was still mated with the alpha of our pack." Nora gasped. "What?!" My heart turned cold. I looked at her, stunned. "You… what?" I said slowly. "That is not true!" she screamed. "That's a lie!" Rafe continued, unflappable. "She was caught sneaking into his room.some elders called for her banishment. It was a scandal.". That's not true!" Nora screamed. "I did respect every elders of my pack ! They were all like a father— I would never do that!" But I didn't respond. I just stared at her. Her face. Her eyes. And now… this? It made too much sense. She was too perfect. Too fragile. Too much like the ghost I'd been trying to forget for years. My voice was a glacier. "Do you think I'm stupid? Tears streamed down her face. "Please. I don't know why he's making this up. It's not true." I turned to face the healer. "Don't let her out of this room." "Alpha—" she began. "I said don't let her out." And then I was gone. My heart raced, but my expression did not change. If she was really lying… if she came into my life pretending to be weak just to trap me… Then she was worse than Lillian. And I wouldn't repeat the same mistake twice.Chapter 132 - It HurtAxel’s POVDays have passed since she left…but to me, it feels like years. The packhouse is quiet now. Too quiet. No laughter, no footsteps, no soft humming from the servant quarters.Only silence — heavy, painful silence that eats me from the inside.I sit on the floor of my room, surrounded by shattered glass and torn curtains. I don’t even remember when I destroyed them. Maybe last night. Maybe the night before. Time doesn’t make sense anymore.I haven’t eaten. I haven’t slept. Every time I close my eyes, I see her face — the way she looked at me before she left. Those eyes… filled with pain and disbelief. She said she didn’t want me.That she didn’t care anymore. But I do.Gods, I do.I thought I could live without her. I thought pushing her away would make everything easier. But now… every breath feels like punishment. The food they bring me sits untouched. The bed feels like a stranger’s place. The mirror shows a man I no longer recognize — hollow eyes, me
Chapter-131 - The BondNora’s POVWhen I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was the ceiling made of rough wood. The smell of herbs filled the air. My body felt heavy, my throat dry, and my lips cracked. For a moment, I didn’t remember where I was… until the memories came rushing back — Axel’s face, his tears, his voice breaking as I walked away.I squeezed my eyes shut. No. I didn’t want to remember. The door creaked open, and an old woman walked in, holding a bowl of steaming soup. Her hair was silver, tied into a neat bun, and her eyes were calm — too calm for someone who lived alone in the middle of nowhere.“You’re awake,” she said softly. “Don’t try to move too much. You were nearly frozen when I found you by the riverbank.”She set the bowl beside me and helped me sit up. Her touch was gentle but firm, like she’d done this many times before.I tried to speak, but only a whisper came out. “Where… am I?”“My hut,” she said. “Name’s Mira. You’ve been sleeping for three days.”T
Chapter 130 : The Pull I Can’t EscapeHer POVThe forest was quiet. Too quiet. The only sound I could hear was the rustle of dry leaves under my bare feet and the soft whisper of the wind that brushed against my face. My body felt heavy, my legs trembling with every step I took, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t.I didn’t even know where I was going anymore. I just wanted to keep walking , far away from the pack house, far away from him. From everything. The cold bit into my skin. My clothes were still damp from the river, and each gust of wind made me shiver. My stomach twisted painfully, but hunger didn’t matter. Pain didn’t matter. Nothing mattered anymore.“I’m free now,” I whispered to myself, my voice breaking in the quiet night. “I’m free…”But the words felt hollow. Empty. If freedom meant being alone, starving, and lost, then why did my heart ache so much? Why did every step feel like I was walking away from something that still held a piece of me?I stumbled, catching myself aga
Chapter 129 - It’s wrong Axel’s POVThe moment Nora walked out, something inside me broke. The room felt colder. The air felt heavier. Even my heartbeat sounded wrong , empty, slow, painful.I stood there, frozen, staring at the door she used to leave. I wanted to run after her, to fall on my knees and beg, but my legs refused to move. My wolf howled inside me, crying her name again and again.“Nora… please don’t go…”But she was gone.I walked around the room like a ghost. Her scent still lingered in the air — soft, warm, and sweet, just like her. It only made things worse. I pressed my hands to my chest, trying to breathe, but it hurt too much. How could she leave me like this? How could I have pushed her so far that leaving was her only choice?I sat on the floor beside the bed she used to sleep on. My hand brushed against the blanket — still warm. I picked it up and held it close to my face. I could almost imagine her voice, her laughter, the way she looked at me when she thought
Chapter 128 — I Don’t Want You AnymoreNora’s POVThe morning light touched my face softly, but my heart still felt heavy.I opened my eyes slowly and looked around the small room. Axel was sitting beside my bed again, just like he had done since he brought me here. His eyes were red, tired… guilty. When he noticed I was awake, he rushed to me. “Nora,” he said, his voice shaking. “How are you feeling now? Does it still hurt?”I didn’t answer.I just sat up quietly and pulled my hand away from his. There was silence. Only the sound of our breathing filled the room.“I remember everything now,” he continued, his voice breaking. “Every word, every touch, every tear I made you cry. I can’t forgive myself. Please… don’t leave me. Give me a chance to make it right.”I closed my eyes for a moment, holding back the tears that burned behind them.“Axel…” My voice came out weak. “Even if you didn’t remember me, why were you so wicked?”He froze. His lips parted, but no words came.“You threw m
Chapter 127— RealHer POVWhen I opened my eyes again, everything felt distant , the air, the light, even my own heartbeat. My body felt heavy, my lips dry, and the faint scent of herbs hung in the air. For a moment, I thought I had woken up in the afterlife. But then I saw him.Axel.He was sitting beside me, his head bowed, both hands holding mine tightly like he was afraid I would disappear. His eyes were red , not from anger this time, but from crying. I could see it. My heart ached and twisted at the sight. For a second, I wanted to pull my hand away. I wanted to turn my face from him and pretend I was still unconscious. But my fingers twitched on their own, weakly moving in his grip.“Nora…” his voice came out in a broken whisper, so soft that I barely heard him. “You’re awake.”He sounded like someone who had been holding his breath for days. When our eyes met, I saw everything he was feeling — guilt, pain, confusion, and something else… something deeper.I turned my face away
