Chapter 8- The Ceremony of Rejection

Penelope's POV

I walk through the woods toward Moon Grove, my heart beating so fast I can barely breathe. Timothy said he wanted to tell me something important today first before the ceremony started, and after last night when he felt that spark between us, I know what it has to be.

He's going to tell me he feels the bond too.

But when I reach the clearing, my steps slow down. There are lots of people here.

Pack members stand around the sacred stones, their faces serious and expectant. Alpha Blackthorn waits near the center, looking pleased about something. My stomach starts to twist.

"What's happening?" I ask a woman standing near me, trying to keep my voice steady.

"The Alpha heir called for a ceremony," she says, glancing at me with curiosity. "Some kind of announcement."

My heart skips. He's going to announce our bond in front of everyone. He's choosing me publicly, showing the whole pack that love matters more than politics.
