Chapter 4 : She is Mine

Liam’s Pov

A loud rap of knuckles against wood yanked me from my mind. One of my men knocked on the door, face etched tightly.

"Liam, it's Cara. Her cousin and those guys are causing her trouble again."

I felt rage jump through me like a live current. "And?"

The warrior shifted uneasily. "As usual, she doesn’t hit back."

I slapped the book closed.

I knew Cara was strong. We’d faced each other so many times in the battle. Of course, I know she could kick those bastards ass. But this is her choice

“Go there. Right now,” Boris demanded. “Stop this nonsense.”

I exhaled sharply, already on my feet. “I’m going. I'll handle it myself."

By the time I arrived, Mateo and his pack of bastards were already gone.

Her lower lip was smeared with blood, bruises already discoloring along her arms.

I narrowed my eyes.

She was healing.

Slow.

On purpose.

Smart girl. She was concealing what she was by this way.

Boris growled at the sight of her wounds, his rage echoing through me like a storm.

“They hurt her.” His voice was a low snarl in my head. “I want to rip them apart.”

I clenched my fists, forcing down my own fury.

“She bleeds, and you stand still?” Boris snapped. “She is ours.”

She didn't need my help.

But that didn't mean I wasn't going to give it.

I found Mateo and his friends without too much effort. They just came out of a bar.

They didn't even see me coming.

I didn't give the first guy time to react before I slammed him into the wall.

Mateo's eyes went wide. “Li… Liam”

I grabbed him by the collar and yanked him forward. "Which paw of yours hit her?" My voice was deadly calm.

"I—I didn't—“

I twisted his arm back, and he screamed. One of his friends took a step forward. I turned my glare on him, and he immediately backed down. Cowards.

"Who else touched her?" I asked.

Mateo whimpered. "We didn't do anything"

I snapped his wrist.

He howled in pain, clutching his arm as he crumpled to the ground.

The others did nothing but stand frozen, silent with fear.

I crouched, tugging on his chin so he was forced to stare at me. "You fell down the stairs. That is all that happened. Do you understand?"

He nodded frantically.

"Good."

I straightened, looking toward the rest.

Nobody moved a muscle.

I knew she could handle it all alone

But one thing changed ; she already had me, whether she liked that or not.

My heart pounded, but not with fear — pride, nervousness, and a touch of disbelief. Our son, Asher, was standing several feet away from us. He was becoming eighteen today. His dark brown hair flew in the wind. His eyes — Damon's eyes — were serene, though there was a slight tremble in his fingers. He was trying to be courageous. In their human form, wolves stood respectfully waiting, observing. Our other children — the triplets — were nearby, eyes wide with wonder and covetousness. They too were ready to shift, but today it belonged to Asher.I breathed slowly. So many memories. His first cry. His first steps. The nights I was awake to keep him company when he was s

A soft breeze blew through the open window, bringing the smell of woods and wildflowers. I rocked back and forth slowly on the packhouse porch, watching the twins — Eli and Elara — stagger around on their tiny legs. They had just learned to walk, and they were proud of every little step.Their other quiet brother, Aiden, was sitting in the grass with Lucas, who was having an imaginary serious meeting with him with leaves and sticks.Damon came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist, his chin

She was the most introverted of the three, always folding herself into me as though I was her whole world. Her small breath warmed my skin, and her hand held onto the bottom of my shirt with such unexpected strength. She had no name yet. None of them did. Damon had promised we'd name them together, when we were ready. And for now, they were my heart in three little bodies. The room was perfumed with fresh linen and baby powder. It was peaceful. Lucas's voice thundered across the room as he swept in with a show, tray in hand laden with fruit, muffins, and steaming tea.
