Chapter Three - The Forest

Nina POv

It was too cold for me, but what more.

My feet was dragged through the dirt as I walked deeper into the forest.

I had no idea where I was going, I Just wanted to get away from him, from his people who watched him denied me, totally from his pack.

Tears begin to flow freely, this time, I dint wipe them away, wha was the point ? My heart felt like it has been ripped away form my chest, the pain felt unbearable.

“Some mates are not meant to be.”

Every time i remembered his words, the pain returned all over again.

A broken sob escaped from my lips, and it dropped to my knees. This hurt so much, even my wolf felt so weak, so has I broken as I was.

Why didn’t I even suspect that was going to happened, how? Why?.

I screamed with the little energy I have because the pain inside me had nowhere else to go

I regretted loving him, I regretted believing in him, because now it cost me everything I have.

I kept on walking.

“I am sorry Love for betraying you.” I said gently to my wolf

Now, I had been walking for what felt like hours, my body was tired, and now my head was dizzy from the alcohol butbgaht didn’t stop me from going

Just then, I heard a low groan

I turned my head and saw a man slipped against a tree, his clothes were torn and blood had stain his chest and arms, his breathing felt so weak.

What happend tohim?.

Well, that shouldn’t be my concern, each person with their problems, I already have enough problems of my own

I kept on going, but the groan, the person was really in pain, and much than I even was.

I went back to him even though I was exhausted, I collapsed onto my knees beside him.

“You are injured…” I whispered, and my voice was a bit tipsy.

He didn't give a response, his eyes were a bit open and he wasn’t conscious.

I know about plant, my dad had taught I and my sibling when we were small, No! I didn’t want to think about my younger brother who begged me not to leave him.

I should just help him and leave.

I reached for some plants? I squeeze them all together and I made the water dropped to his wound.

Tests streamed down my face as I struggled, I just hoped I was doing it right for him because I was too weak and drunk.

“I gave up everything for him” I panted, “And he hurt me so much.”

The man grunted, but I wasn’t sure if he was hearing me.

“I left my pack, I trained him, I made him powerful “

My hands trembled as I pressed the leaves  harder on his wound, the smell of the blood made me nauseous, but I forced myself to keep on going.

Suddenly m? I heard the sound of footsteps.

I lifted my head? Blinds so hard, they are quite number of them

They approached the wounded men lying down.

“He saved him” one of the men says.

“Maybe she didn’t.” another one said.

The eyelid of the injured man opened, he looked at me, and at the men standing.

“Take her with us.”

The men looked at me, they hesitated.

“She’s not okay, bring her too.”

Huh? Where are they taking me too, well, maybe, maybe they are not harmful.

I let the lift me off the ground and carry me up, I needed rest.

Every servant worked carefully. Every warrior watched the walls a little longer than usual. Every parent held their children a little closer whenever they crossed the courtyards.Fear had not taken control of the pack.Uncertainty had.I stood outside the eastern balcony overlooking the training grounds, watching the morning drills begin. The warriors moved with discipline, but something had changed.Their attention drifted.Small mistakes appeared where none would have existed before. One warrior mis

Then I learned Aurora shared my bloodline. After that, the ancient records revealed another heir existed somewhere beyond our sight. Now one question overshadowed every other thought.Who were they? The mountain road curved around steep cliffs before descending into the valley. Snow covered the ground, hiding the old paths beneath a smooth white blanket.Lyra guided us without hesitation."I remember these trails," she said. "My grandfather brought me here when I was a child.""You have never mentioned that before," Nikolai replied."There was never a reason."She looked toward the distant mountains."He always sai

They had uncovered responsibilities that stretched beyond my lifetime, beyond my father's generation, and even beyond the kingdom I had sworn to protect. The second seal rested safely in our possession, yet I could not shake the feeling that we were already moving according to a plan written centuries before any of us were born.Snow covered the mountain trail as our horses descended toward the valley. The captain rode ahead, carefully watching the narrow path, while Lyra and Nikolai remained close behind me. None of us wasted words. Every rider understood that silence often revealed more than conversation.Near sunset, a messenger hawk appeared above us.The bird circled twice before landing on my arm.A tigh

Every servant, soldier, and messenger carried a token proving where they belonged. Even the kitchens no longer operated without inspection. Nothing entered the palace unless it had been searched twice.Still, I could not convince myself that we were safe. The greatest danger was no longer outside our walls. It was somewhere inside them.I stood in the council chamber studying the reports spread across the long oak table. Every page contained names, patrol schedules, witness statements, and sketches of the hidden passages discovered beneath the palace.
