"What?" she asked.

What was she thinking? That I like her, or what? I am an Alpha, not just any wolf.

"But... you marked me," she said, coming closer to me.

I shouldn't have. Why did I rescue her? I should have just let her be taken by those guys and not marked her. What was I thinking?

"That was all a mistake," I replied coldly. She is getting ideas, which she shouldn't.
