I must’ve stared for too long because Margaret turned to me. Our eyes locked and a slow smile grew on her lips.

I turned to leave when I heard her voice as clear as day. “It looks like we have a stalker.”

“What are you talking about?” Alex asked. “Is someone following us?”

“It would seem so, considering that I see her everywhere I turn. It’s getting pathetic really.”

“I don’t have time for this, Margaret,” Alex snapped. “Who is this person?”

“Not a person… her.” She pointed a slender, red finger at me.

Alex turned slowly, his eyes locking with mine too. His eyes widened in shock at first, but the shock quickly turned to annoyance. He stormed over to me and grabbed my arm a bit too harshly.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” he hissed. “You should be at work.”

I jerked my hand out of his hold. “It’s none of your business. Go back to whatever the fuck it was that you were doing.”

He frowned. “You’re being childish. Stop acting like a brat.”
