The safe house was not what I expected.

I had imagined something rundown. Hidden. The kind of place desperate wolves used when they had nowhere else to go.

Instead, it was a modern apartment in a building that screamed expensive anonymity. The kind of place where no one asked questions because everyone had secrets to hide.

"Third floor," Dante said as we parked in the underground garage. "Fully stocked. Warded against magical tracking. Cash and emergency supplies in the safe. Use nothing electronic. No phones, no internet, no contact with the outside world until I clear it."

"How long?" I asked.

"Minimum three days. Long enough for Silvercrest to finish their pack mourning rituals and for the council to convene about Marcus's death. After that, we will know what we are dealing with."

My grandmother was already out of the vehicle, moving with energy that seemed impossible for someone who had been grievously wounded hours ago. She healed faster than normal wolves. Another Silvermoon adv

Fighting in full Silvermoon form was nothing like I expected. The power was immense but controllable. My body moved with precision I had never possessed, every muscle working in perfect coordination. My senses were so sharp I could track Marcus's heartbeat, smell his fear beneath the rage, predict his movements before he made them. This was what I was meant to be.Not weak. Not suppressed. Not omega.Silvermoon.Marcus twisted away from my grandmother's attack, his claws raking across her side. She yelped but didn't retreat, immediately countering with a strike at his throat that he barely blocked. He was strong. Experienced. An Alpha in his prime with decades of combat training. But he was alone. And we were pack. Not his pack. Not bound by the hierarchies and traditions he used to control wolves. But pack in the way that mattered, two Silvermoon fighting as one coordinated unit.I lunged from his blind side while my grandmother occupied his attention. My teeth found his shoulder, te

"We are not staying to fight twenty elite hunters," Dante said flatly. "That is suicide.""For normal wolves, yes." My grandmother moved through the cabin with surprising speed for her age, gathering items I couldn't identify. "But you are not normal wolves. She is Silvermoon. You are Mafia Alpha. And I am a wolf who survived three assassination attempts and a pack war. Twenty hunters are manageable.""Manageable?" Mara's voice was incredulous. "With all due respect, elder, we have four security wolves, two Alphas, and an untrained manifestation. Against twenty trained killers with silver weapons. Those odds are terrible.""Those odds assume traditional combat." The old woman pulled weapons from hidden compartments—blades, spelled objects, things that hummed with power I didn't understand. "But Silvermoon doesn't fight traditionally. We fight smart. We use terrain, psychology, and power that normal wolves cannot match."She looked at me directly. "Your training until now has been abou

"You are lying," I said. But even as I spoke, I knew he wasn't. Adrian's expression held too much genuine fear. Too much urgency."I wish I was," he replied. "But I heard my father talking to the council elders. They mentioned her. By name. Lyanna Silvermoon. Your mother's mother. The last true Silvermoon Alpha before the bloodline was supposedly destroyed."Lyanna. My mother's name had been Lyanna too. I had always thought it was coincidence. A common name passed down. But now..."If she is alive, where is she?" I demanded."Hidden. Somewhere even the council doesn't know." Adrian glanced around nervously. "But my father has been tracking her for years. He has contacts. Resources. He is close to finding her location.""Why does he want her?""Because she is the only one who can verify what you are. The only living witness to Silvermoon manifestation protocols. If he finds her first, he can force her to testify that you are unstable. That Silvermoon power always leads to madness. That

The neutral territory was an old estate on the border between pack lands.I had never seen it before. Omegas were not invited to council meetings. We were barely acknowledged as wolves worthy of political consideration. But today, I was the entire reason the council had been called.Dante's car pulled through iron gates into a courtyard filled with vehicles. Expensive cars bearing pack insignias from territories I only knew from stories. Every major Alpha in the region had answered Silvercrest's summons."How many?" I asked quietly."Twelve packs represented," Dante replied, his eyes scanning the gathering. "Plus neutral parties and council arbitrators. Maybe forty wolves total. All of them watching to see what happens when territorial authority conflicts with pack tradition.""No pressure then.""Enormous pressure." His voice was matter-of-fact. "But you have handled worse. Remember—controlled confidence. Show power without threatening. Answer questions honestly but without giving th

The training intensified after the manifestation.Dante pushed me harder than before. Longer sessions. More complex exercises. Testing the limits of my new strength and the fragility of my control."Again," he commanded as I struggled to lift a weight that should have been impossible for my frame. "Control the power. Don't let it control you."My muscles screamed. My wolf growled inside me, wanting to surge forward and make this easy. But I forced myself to use only the strength I could consciously control. The weight lifted. Slowly. Shakily. But lifted."Better," Dante said. "But not good enough. In combat, you will not have time to think through every movement. Control needs to be instinctive. Automatic. Again."We had been at this for six hours. My body was past exhaustion into some numb state where pain became background noise. But I kept going.Because the alternative was losing control. Becoming the monster Silvercrest claimed I would be. Proving everyone right who said Silvermo
