Chapter Three

—Killian—

"Why shouldn't we say her name, when it's clear to anyone with half a brain that you're still in love with her. Have you already forgotten how she betrayed you? How she slept with another man? And got pregnant with his child? And I'm pretty sure she has moved on….." Before she can utter another word I rush towards her and grab her by the neck.

She groans in pain but she doesn't back down.

"I've been the one here with you all these years, I've stood by your side through everything, but still you don't let me in, why Killian why, how am I so different from my sister." She cries out.

"How are you different from your sister? The difference is that I loved your sister. I have no such feelings towards you. And the next time you talk to me with such disrespect I will not hesitate to rip out your tongue." I snarl at her and throw her on the ground.

She cried as she watched me walk away.

I walk out of the elevator with a grim look on my face, all eyes are on me as I walk out of the company, most of the workers here are wolves and as their alpha they can sense that something is wrong so they stay out of my way.

I walked over to where Lachlan stood, the pedestrians on the sidewalk couldn't help but stare at him and the fucker didn't even notice. Lachlan was 6ft tall with dark green eyes that made the ladies fawn over him.

I was known to be heartless and ruthless, I used women to fulfill my needs and then I got rid of them. The only person that had managed to get close to me after all these years was Mari and I just ruined that too.

"What are you doing here?" I asked Lachlan with a tired voice.

But before he can answer me he sees Mari walk out of the building with tears in her eyes.

He turns and looks at me, " Did you break up with her?" Finally, it took you long enough the both of you together were toxic."

"I'm not going to ask again. Why are you here? And why are you in my way?"

"Well, I couldn't just let you go home alone and sulk, you're my alpha and my best friend, I didn't want you to be alone today."

"But don't you have pack matters to attend to?" I ask him.

"Not really, and since your meeting with the alpha of Crescent wolf pack was canceled, I'm free as a bird." He said smiling.

I just sighed and walked away, I had no time or strength for whatever he was scheming.

He runs up to me and says, "Ok, I'm sorry I didn't mean to joke around. I know how hard today is for you since it's the day that Lena left and I didn't want you to be alone."

"Thanks man."

"So come on, get in the car let me drive you home." We both walk down to the parking lot and get into my black Aston martin and head home.

After Lena left, there were some unforeseen circumstances. The day after I rejected her and she left I found out that I couldn't shift to my wolf form, I mean I'm the greatest flip shifter in a century and I can't shift, I guess that was the goddess way of punishing me for rejecting my mate.

I still have my physical strength and speed as a human but I just can't shift. Immediately I found out I told Lachlan and he's the only one that knows. I immediately handed the running of the pack over to him while I focused on taking the company to the next level and we both started to look for Lena.

So for the past three years we have been looking for Lena but no luck. And don't be confused thinking I've forgiven her no that's far from it, I just need to make her think that I have forgiven her so she agrees to be my mate again and i can finally shift but after that,I plan to make her life hell, she is going to regret ever cheating on me.

Lachlan was blasting the radio and singing along to some god awful R n B song. I opened my eyes and looked out the window, I was emotionally and physically exhausted, I didn't even have the strength to tell him to turn down the music and shut up.

I'm about to turn away from the window when I caught sight of a familiar face, no it can't be.

"Stop the car!" I yelled and Lachlan immediately stops the car not minding that we were in the middle of the road.

I couldn't believe it, it was actually Lena walking out of the ice cream parlor. She had changed these past three years. Her long brown hair was now shorter and she added some highlights in, she was taller, her breasts were fuller and her hips were… Damn she is hot.

Just as I'm about to get out of the car and walk up to her, a male figure comes out of the shop and takes her hand. Is that the guy she cheated on me with?

My heart constricts in pain, and my wolf wants to come out and tear that guy whoever he is limb from limb. Wait a second my wolf, that's the first time I've felt him in years.

But as I step out of the car to confront them, they are no longer there. "Fuck!". I slam the car door.

Lachlan comes out of the car. "What is it? What did you see?"

I turn to him, "More like who did I see. I just saw Lena."

A guilty expression flashes on his face. "Lachlan, is there something you want to tell me?"

"No, nothing at all."

"Do not lie to me Lachlan, I saw the look on your face. Now tell me the truth."

The cars behind us were still honking their horns and the drivers were hurling insults at us.

"Look, we're holding up traffic, let's just get home and I'll explain everything."

Reluctantly I got into the car. But as we are driving home I think to myself what secret could Lachlan possibly be keeping from me.
