LOGINMaya's pov.
I shivered in fear right where I stood, if it weren't for the warriors holding me up, my legs would have given out. Mates! I had often heard of the term and learnt of it as well, never for once did I think I would find mine. However I realised all I had left was a lie. Yes there was the scent that would drive you crazy, but the feeling when you finally met them wasn't sweet, there were no fireworks in the background, no butterflies in the stomach. Only fear. A nerve wrecking, it was cold, my stomach felt empty, my breathing frozen, dread filled my insides and I shuddered. Staring into his dark eyes that held such enmity, hatred and disgust as he held my very sole in place, trapped in an endless void. Torian Valon descended from the stairs, not breaking our locked gaze for a second. The closer he got, the more I wanted to back away, the more I wanted to run and hide in the deepest and darkest part of the world. Anywhere but where I stood. “Once again, the moon goddess has proven to be a horrible maker,” his voice thundered loud and deep. The warriors finally let me go and I crumbled to the door in a thud, “Please……” I whispered, my voice trembled. I had nothing else to say than to beg for my life, not like there was more to it but something about being Torian Valon’s mate didn't sit well with me and I knew something worse was coming. “So weak and pathetic that you beg for your miserable life right now, I always wondered how you managed to survive in this pack,” he commented. My teeth chattered against each other, the corners of my eyes began to sting. Torian continued, “You dare think that you can stand beside me as an equal? His voice raised in anger and an invisible pressure weighed down on me. I shook my head. “That's against the law, being weak is against the law,” he stretched out. Shaking his head in disappointment, “And we do not accept weak in our pack,” “I Torian Valon hereby reject you, Maya Black to be my mate,” he finished. A retching pain tore through me as though my soul was being sucked right out of me, a shrill scream echoed as I held my chest. Tears stayed down my cheeks as the energy in me was drained. “And I hereby banish you for making an attempt on the future alpha of the crimson blood pack,” a smirk stretched across his face as my eyes widened in fear. He couldn't do that? “Its good you know what that means for you,” he finished before chucking, walking over to Lexi and taking her lips with his. I didn't wait to watch the scene unfold before me, I didn't want to because I needed to run for my life. As much as I had always wished for death, I never wanted it truly and that night confirmed it. My legs finally responded as I picked myself up from the ground, stumbling a bit before I got my footing right as I sprinted away from the pack grounds. The moon hung high in the sky, daring and full. The woods were dense but I made my way through it desperately to survive. I barely had time to catch my breath as I knew what was coming, the howls echoed deep in the air, powerful thuds sounded from behind me and I knew they were already after me. A wolf roared from beside me, taking me off guard as it lunged at me, throwing me against a tree, my back collided hard before I collapsed onto the ground. Groaning in pain, tasting the metallic tang of blood. Although I was weak with my back hurting, the fear and adrenaline coursing through my veins pushed me further. The werewolves were taunting me, pushing me to my limit as they repeated their attacks on me, sharp jaws locked onto my arm and I screamed loudly before I was tossed like a ragged doll. Another locked its jaws onto my arm, I felt my bones crunch under its razor sharp teeth before once again I was flying away, rolling on the dust before coming to a stop. I crawled desperately despite the pain and the tears to get out of there, not knowing where I would have gone but I knew I needed to. Dragging myself through the forest floor with just one arm and losing a lot of blood which made me dizzy. “I'm surprised you made it to the packs borders,” Torian's muffled voice mocked and a shiver ran down my spine. All my efforts, just for him to walk over. I bit my lips and continued to crawl until I was harshly turned over, the warriors set me on my knees and every drive in me was lost, all hope because I knew what was coming. “Hmm, she already looks half dead,” Lexi's voice pierced the air filled with disgust. The Crimson blood never let the banished souls to live, they believe they would be betrayed once they are out of the pack. They also didn't believe in mercy against heinous crimes that had been committed, which was the reason behind their strength, they were the strongest pack in the last century. And they were about to do the same thing to me. Torian grabbed my jaws and forced me to look at him, my vision however was blurry from how many times I was knocked against a tree trunk, I was surprised I was still conscious however that wouldn't last for long. My body trembled, not wanting to accept what was to come and neither did my heart. “Please….please, don't…do this,” I tried to plead my case, promising that if they let me go, they never had to hear from me again. Torian's deep chuckle reverberated, causing a shiver to race down my spine, “That won't be possible,” he whispered. “Those who are weak must be purged from this world because they never survive,” A moment of silence was observed as I whispered my last prayers to the moon goddess. “Your eyes…..I don't like them,” he commented, “They show too much of your weakness as an omega,” His hands glided over my face, slow and deliberate, until his thumbs pressed firmly against my eye sockets. “No—please, no… no…” My screams tore through the air, raw and desperate, just as Torian’s claws pierced merciless—driving into my eyes while I thrashed helplessly. After which, darkness.Maya's pov.I was sore, every muscle aching, fatigued, like I’d just run a marathon instead of spending days sitting around the pack house.I tried to sit up, but pain lanced through me, sharp and deep, and a firm hand pressed against my shoulder, holding me down.“You don’t need to get up,” Jackson’s familiar voice said gently. “You’re going through the healing process.”My throat felt raw, the inside of my mouth dry as sand. “Can I get some water?” I rasped. My voice came out rougher, huskier than I intended, I was parched.I felt a cold glass of water placed in my hands and I brought the cold liquid to my lips, downing it slowly so it quenched my thirst. My body still felt pain, “What happened?” I inquired, stretching out my hands and the glass was taken away from me.The last thing I remembered was…. I was speaking with Varek and then all of a sudden, there was this growing pain that split through me.“It's the alpha serum, do you feel any changes in your body?” Now that Jackson m
Varek's pov.Her body jerked violently, as though an invisible force had seized her strings and yanked them all at once. “Maya! Maya, are you okay?”I crouched beside her, sliding my hands beneath her head to keep it from striking the floor. Her limbs convulsed, twisting in unnatural rhythm; a faint foam gathered at the corner of her lips, her breath coming in short, broken gasps.Panic surged through me. Scooping her up bridal style, I raced for the infirmary where Mark should be. I didn’t know what was happening or how to help — only that I had to move, fast.“MARK!” I shouted the moment I burst through the clinic doors. The others in the clinic stared at me in shock, alarm etched across their faces as they rushed forward to help. But one figure pushed through the crowd.Jackson.“Mark isn’t around at the moment, hurry, bring her in,” he instructed, his voice steady despite the tension. He led us into a separate ward and closed the door behind him while I laid Maya on the bed.Jack
Maya's pov One minute then pain rippled through me like an earthquake, touching every part of my body, and the next it was gone like it was never there, a presence without a shadow. The pack had been busy for the past few days now, trying to get things together, or so I was told by Sarah who I hadn't heard from in a while. Everyone seems to be busy. No one seems to pay attention to me, and if they did, it was always a derogatory comment of how I was never to be here, how I was slacking off and not doing anything, how I was just allowed to roam their pack. Even though I didn't want to be here, to be honest, I wished I had died after my banishment. It would have saved me a lot of the pain, the ridicule, the constant worrying that something bad was coming and that worry seems to grow day by day. It was noon and I was in the woods, sitting on a fallen log, taking in the warm air and the sounds of the cricket which calmed me down and kept me company, even if that sounded ridiculo
Maya's pov.“Okay??” I was unsure about this as I felt weird, I didn't know him, I didn't know what he looked like nor did I like the way he sounded but at that moment, he was my present and Mark wasn't.Jackson led me by my hand and brought me to a chair to take a seat which I did, although right after I ripped my hands away from him, physical touch has never been my strong suit.“So, you eyes, Do you mind if I ask what happened to them?” He questioned from behind me before slowly undoing the bandages.Yes, I did mind, it wasn't something I wanted to talk about, especially to someone I just met.Jackson seems to wave it off, “It must be traumatic for you, having to lose your vision, I don't think I would be able to live with myself if I can't see the beauty of the world,”I wanted to scoff in ridicule, the beauty of the world? The world wasn't beautiful, maybe once upon a time, but for a long time it hasn't.There have been wars, killing and a terrible event that have happened over
3rd person's pov Maya woke up startled, with a banging headache that resonated so deep, she thought the world was banging in sync with it, holding it tightly between her hands so it stopped. She hadn't noticed anything about her surrounding until a deep voice echoed out, offering her some water, “Here's an aspirin for the head ache,” Maya could tell Varek's voice from anywhere, what she couldn't tell was why he was offering this to her. Was he trying to kill me once and for all? The silent way? “Don't worry, it's not poison,” Varek couldn't help but smile at her hesitance.Slowly, Maya stretched her hands out and Varek handed the glass of water to her, with that split second, their hands brushed against each other with both of them feeling an electrifying spark. It was short, so sudden and it was gone the minute it had surged, “Thank you,” Maya whispered in gratitude before taking the medicine.Silence stretched out in the room, Maya couldn't tell if Varek was still with her or not
Third person's pov. They didn't permit Maya to leave, nowhere, for some unknown reason, it seems they were a bit lax with keeping her prisoners, there were no silver chains any longer and she was allowed to wander, in the confines of a room.It had been a week since she was almost burnt to death and Sarah had been a close contact for her, after a while, Maya had become fond of her, so much so that she had been assigned a new room in the pack house.Sarah knocked on the doors of this new room, before pushing the door open, “Hey,” Maya sat by the window sill, taking in the fresh air and wishing more than anything that she could use her vision again, that she could see the environment she was in, however it didn't seem that was likely, “Hi,” she offered a sad smile in return.Sarah noticed this and couldn't help but feel sorry for the girl who was likely the same age as she was but due to the fact that she had been malnourished, her features appeared sickly, “How are you feeling?” May
