The night air was cold, but Emma barely felt it.

She walked aimlessly through the city, her tears mixing with the drizzle that had started to fall. She had no plan. No wallet. No phone. No place to go.

All she had was the knowledge that the life she'd built for ten years had just collapsed around her.

She stumbled into a bar—a dark, dingy place that smelled like motorcycles and sweat. The kind of place she'd never be caught dead in on a normal night.

But nothing about tonight was normal.

She found a stool at the counter and ordered whiskey. The bartender raised an eyebrow at her trembling hands but poured the drink without comment.

Emma downed it in one gulp. Then another. Then another.

The alcohol burned going down, but it numbed the pain. That was what mattered.

"You look like you could use a friend."

The voice came from beside her. Emma turned, her vision slightly blurred, and froze.

It was him. The customer from the bakery.

But he looked different here. His expensive suit was gone, replaced by a leather jacket that hugged his broad shoulders. His dark hair was tousled, and his eyes—those intense, piercing eyes—were watching her with more concern than she'd seen from anyone in years.

"You," she breathed. "You're... why are you here?"

He gave her a small smile. "I own the place."

"You own... you own a motorcycle bar?"

"And a tech company," he said casually. "Diversification."

Emma laughed—a broken, hysterical sound. "Of course you do. Of course you're a mysterious, handsome billionaire who also happens to own a bar. Why wouldn't you be?"

He tilted his head, studying her. "Are you okay?"

"Does it look like I'm okay?" Emma gestured at herself. "I just walked in on my husband cheating on me with our friend. Or, sorry, his friend's wife. She's not my friend. Obviously. She was never my friend."

"Your husband cheated on you?"

"Two years," Emma said bitterly. "He's been sleeping with her for two years. And I didn't even know. I was too busy starving myself and hating my body because he made me feel worthless."

She expected pity. She expected the man to look at her with the same disgust she'd seen in Michael's eyes.

Instead, he looked... angry.

"Your husband told you to lose weight?" His voice was tight.

"He made me weigh myself every morning," Emma said, her voice wobbling. "He controlled what I ate. He told me I was ugly. He told me he couldn't desire me when I looked like this."

She gestured at her curvy body, fully expecting him to recoil.

He didn't.

"Emma." His voice was soft but intense. "Look at me."

She looked up, meeting his eyes.

"You don't need to become smaller," he said firmly. "You don't need to change a single thing about yourself. You were always beautiful. The problem was never you—it was him."

Emma stared at him. "You're... you're just saying that."

"I'm not." His hand covered hers on the bar, his palm warm and rough. "I've been watching you for months. Every morning, I came to your bakery just to see you smile. You make the most incredible pastries—you put love into every single one. You're kind to everyone who walks through that door. And you're absolutely stunning."

"I'm not stunning," Emma said, pulling her hand away. "I'm fat. I'm ugly—"

"Emma."

The way he said her name made her stop.

"You are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen," he said quietly. "Your body? It's perfect. Every curve. Every inch. You could never be anything but gorgeous."

Emma's heart was pounding. "Why are you telling me this?"

"Because someone should have told you a long time ago." He leaned closer, his eyes dark with something that made her breath catch. "Because I've wanted to tell you for months. Because I've imagined what it would be like to take you in my arms and show you exactly how desirable you are."

"You don't even know me," Emma whispered.

"I know enough." His thumb traced the back of her hand. "I know you're strong. I know you've been hurt by people who didn't deserve you. I know you're hiding the amazing woman you are because someone made you believe you weren't enough."

He reached up, brushing a strand of hair from her face.

"You are enough, Emma. You always have been."

Emma felt tears streaming down her cheeks. But for the first time tonight, they weren't tears of pain.

They were tears of relief.

"I don't..." she started, then stopped.

"Don't what?"

"I don't know how to be desired," she admitted. "I don't know how to be wanted. It's been so long, and I'm so broken, and—"

"Let me show you."

The words hung in the air between them.

Emma looked into his eyes—those dark, intense eyes that had been watching her for months. She saw something there she hadn't seen in years.

Hunger. Desire.

"I don't even know your name," she whispered.

"Ethan," he said. "Ethan Carter."

"Ethan." She tested the name on her lips.

"I want to take you upstairs," he said, his voice low and rough. "I want to show you exactly how beautiful you are. I want to touch every inch of you and make you feel like the goddess you've always been."

"What if I'm not good at it anymore?" Emma asked. "What if I'm... what if he was right?"

Ethan's jaw tightened. "He was never right. And I'll spend the rest of the night proving it to you if you let me."

Emma thought about the life she'd just left. The years of emotional abuse. The constant criticism. The way Michael had stripped away every shred of her confidence.

Then she thought about this man—this stranger who'd seen her at her worst and still called her beautiful.

"Okay," she said. "Okay. Show me."

Ethan's hand found hers, squeezing gently.

"Come on," he said, leading her toward the stairs. "I'm going to take care of you."

"You're my mother's husband's son.""Which means nothing." He caught her face in his hands, tilting it up toward him. "What happened between us wasn't a mistake, Emma. It was the best thing that's ever happened to me.""I can't—""You can." He pressed his forehead to hers. "You have to understand—I've been obsessed with you for months. The family gathered at 7:00 PM sharp.Emma had spent the afternoon hiding in her room, desperately trying to compose herself. She'd changed into her nicest dress—a simple black number that hugged her curves—and fixed her hair. But she still felt like she was walking to her execution."Ready?" her mother asked, knocking on the door."Ready as I'll ever be."Emma followed her mother down the grand staircase, her heart pounding with every step. The dining room was even more impressive than the foyer. Candlelight flickered from an ornate centerpiece. And at the head of the table, watching her with an unreadable expression, was Ethan.Their eyes met, and Emma felt her breath leave her body.He looked different in a suit. Commanding. Authoritative. The gentle lover from last night seemed like a distant memory replaced by this cold, powerful stranger."Emma," Damian said warmly, pulling her from her trance. "Come si

Emma woke up alone. For a moment, she didn't know where she was. The room was unfamiliar, the sheets were soft and expensive, and the faint light filtering through the curtains was nothing like the harsh morning sun of her apartment. Then she remembered.Michael. The cheating. The motorcycle bar. Ethan. The most incredible night of her life. She sat up, clutching the sheet to her chest, and looked around. There was a note on the nightstand, written on expensive stationary.Had to handle something at work. Stay as long as you want. I'll be back tonight.- EEmma smiled, hugging the note to her chest. For the first time in years, she felt... free. Light. The room above the bar was surprisingly elegant.Dark wood furniture, a massive bed, soft lighting. It smelled like him—cedar and musk and something distinctly masculine.Emma stood in the doorway, suddenly unsure."I don't know what to do," she admitted. "It's been... years. And I'm not...""Let me take the lead," Ethan said gently. "Just trust me. Can you do that?"Emma nodded. He stepped closer, his hand coming up to cup her cheek. The touch was feather-light, almost reverent."You're so beautiful," he murmured. "You have no idea how long I've wanted to do this.""I can't imagine you've been thinking about me," Emma said, looking away. "Not with all the beautiful women who must throw themselves at you."Ethan turned her face back toward his. "I haven't thought about anyone else for months," he said seriously. All the things she spent her days creating for other people while her stomach growled and her head swam with hunger. She forced a smile as the morning rush began, serving lattes and cappuccinos to the steady stream of customers who'd discovered Savor Bakery.
