The salt spray had dried stiff on my skin by the time the boat engines finally cut out.

We had pulled into a dark, narrow cove carved right into the side of a sheer granite cliff. High above us, jutting out over the crashing black water, sat Lucian’s coastal estate. It didn't look like a home. It looked like a fortress built out of dark iron, slate, and reinforced glass, completely hidden from the main coastal highway by miles of dense pine forest.

Lucian killed the auxiliary lights and led us

  • Rejected Tribrid Wolf: Her Four Alphas' Curse   Northern Ridge

The storm over the Capital Court peaked as two hundred armed outer-pack wolves rolled into the city perimeter. Equipped with high-grade tactical vests, heavy automatic rifles, and silver-tipped blades from the Royal Armory, the militia no longer looked like an scattered group of survivors. They moved like a disciplined military vanguard, taking up strategic positions behind concrete barriers, overturned transport trucks, and marble pillars along the city’s outer edge.I stood on the high stone parapet above the Northern Bridge, my black tactical coat snapping violently in the icy wind. Beside me, Cade lay prone on a waterlogged camouflage tarp, his heavy sniper rifle resting on a steel bipod, his scope locked onto the dark highway stretching north into the fog.Down on the bridge deck, Brecken stood alone before a wall of heavy iron tank-traps, his twin broadswords planted firmly into the wet asphalt. Behind him, fifty newly armed pack wolves waited in dead silence, their weapons rai

  • Rejected Tribrid Wolf: Her Four Alphas' Curse   Ancient Armory

The descent beneath the High Assembly Hall felt like stepping backward into an forgotten era. While the upper levels of the palace were built of polished marble, glass, and modern surveillance hubs, the subterranean passages beneath the foundation were carved from raw, dark granite. Thick, high-voltage power cables ran alongside ancient carved runes, glowing faint blue beneath the dust of decades.I held the heavy iron double-headed wolf key tight in my hand as Brecken, Lucian, Soren, and Cade followed me down the spiral stone staircase. "The structural integrity down here is solid," Cade noted, his tactical flashlight cutting through the heavy gloom. "Reinforced poured concrete overlaid with spell-tempered steel. If the provincial marshals start shelling the surface four hours from now, this vault will hold.""It wasn't built to survive artillery, Cade," Soren said, touching the glowing blue runes along the damp wall. "These wards were set three hundred years ago by the original wit

  • Rejected Tribrid Wolf: Her Four Alphas' Curse   Blood Lineage

High Minister Vane staggered back against the marble dais, his immaculate white suit now stained with the grey soot of the destroyed siphon beast. The shattered remains of his black-stone ring lay scattered like burnt charcoal across the polished floor.Behind us, the high vaulted windows of the Assembly Hall clicked and rattled as the storm outside beat relentless rain against the glass.Brecken stepped forward first, his broadswords resting loosely in his hands, his boots leaving heavy, bloody tracks on the marble floor. Lucian closed the angle on the left, his rapier held low and level, while Cade covered the high balcony exits with his rifle raised. Soren stood directly beside me, his staff glowing with a steady blue light that illuminated the dark corners of the hall."It's over, Vane," I said, my voice cutting through the echo of the storm. I didn't lower my handgun. "Your guards are broken. Your weapon is ash. There are no more council boards to hide behind."Vane wiped a trace

The doors slammed shut behind us, locking out the sound of the rain. The High Assembly Hall was vast, circular, and lined with towering marble pillars that stretched up toward a vaulted glass ceiling. Fifty high-backed leather chairs sat empty in tiered rows along the balcony walls—the seats of the court judges who had fled hours ago.At the center of the marble floor stood High Minister Vane.He didn't look like a defeated man. He wore a pristine, high-collared white suit trimmed with capital gold, his hands resting casually on the silver handle of a heavy cane. Beside him stood a five-ton iron cage, its heavy bars pulsing with dark purple magic.Inside the cage, chained to the stone floor by heavy silver cuffs, was a massive, shadow-bound dire wolf."I must admit, Aria," Vane said, his voice echoing smoothly through the empty hall. "You made better time up the highway than General Malakor anticipated.""Malakor is dead, Vane," I said, stepping forward while my four Alphas spread out

  • Rejected Tribrid Wolf: Her Four Alphas' Curse   The Inner Plaza

Rain began to fall as the two black SUVs sped past the ruined iron gates, slicking the wide concrete avenues of the Capital Court's inner district. The city around us was utterly eerie. Where bright neon signs and bustling court retinues usually filled the broad boulevards, there was only a hollow, echoing stillness. Streetlights flickered erratically under the strain of the blown power grid, casting long, jittery shadows across empty marble courtyards and abandoned security checkpoints. High Minister Vane had pulled every available mercenary back toward the central palace, abandoning the outer blocks to consolidate his last line of defense.Brecken drove with a stone-hard silence, his broad hands locked at ten and two on the steering wheel. Beside him, I reloaded my sidearm, stripping a fresh magazine from my vest and slapping it home with a sharp, metallic click. "The main square is two blocks ahead," Lucian said over the cabin radio from the trailing vehicle. "Vane’s private secu

  • Rejected Tribrid Wolf: Her Four Alphas' Curse   The Outer Gates

The neon-lit skyline of the Capital Court burned against the low, dark clouds like a feverish dream. Unlike the rugged stone streets and pine forests of our valley, the Capital outer district was an endless expanse of wet asphalt, towering steel walls, and glowing corporate banners. High-voltage searchlights swept back and forth across the four-lane approach, casting long, stark shadows over the massive steel fortification known as the Outer Gate.Ten miles out, Brecken pulled our two black SUVs into the shadow of an abandoned concrete overpass, killing the engines.Cade lowered his binoculars, his brow furrowed as he scanned the massive gate structure ahead. "They’ve pulled back their forward patrols. The entire road is barren, but the main iron portcullis is dropped completely flush against the pavement. They’ve got heavy gun emplacements mounted on the upper wall and two armored walker tanks guarding the central arch.""They're hunkering down," Brecken said, resting his thick fore
