Chapter 18

Gonzalo's POV

I woke up, my eyes adjusting to the morning light filtering through the curtains. I reached out to my side, expecting to find Teresa there, but the bed was empty. Frowning, I sat up, wondering where she had gone. We had slept on the same bed, but she had been distant since last night.

"Teresa?" I called out, but there was no response. I sighed, frustration building within me. I couldn't understand why she was so upset with me.

I got out of bed and stretched, feeling the tension in my muscles. I needed to find her and sort things out.

Entering the bathroom, I went about my morning routine. After dressing, I left my room and walked through the hallways of the cabin. My gaze fell on one of the maids, and I approached her.

"Have you seen Teresa?" I asked, trying to sound casual despite my growing concern.

The maid greeted me respectfully before answering. "Yes, I saw Miss Teresa leaving the house this morning. She said she didn't want to be disturbed."
