MY DATE HAS GONE TO THE WOLVES

The date was actually going well. Which honestly should have been my first warning sign. Nothing disastrous had happened yet. Hunter wasn’t awkward anymore, the food was good, and for once I wasn’t thinking about rejection, heartbreak, or emotionally unstable werewolves every five seconds. I was even smiling. Actually smiling.

Hunter was in the middle of telling me some embarrassing story about accidentally setting his chemistry project on fire when something suddenly shifted inside me. Nyx lifted her head instantly. My smile faded. Because I smelled him. Bane. The scent hit me so strongly my stomach twisted immediately. Not faint. Not passing by. Close. Very close.

My eyes slowly scanned the restaurant. And suddenly everything clicked together in the worst possible way. The laughter. The scents. The heavy feeling in the air. Almost everyone here was a werewolf. Some from school. Some older. Some from our pack. How the hell hadn’t I noticed earlier? Nyx growled softly inside me. This is bad.

Hunter frowned slightly across from me. “Livana?” I barely heard him. Because right at that moment— “Hello, Livana.” My blood ran cold. Bane stood beside the table looking perfectly calm while Damon and two other wolves stood behind him. Hunter immediately straightened slightly. His eyes moved around the restaurant slowly now, finally noticing familiar faces from school staring toward us.

Bane smiled faintly. “Nice choice, Hunter,” he said casually. “This is a nice place.” Then without asking permission, he pulled a chair beside mine and sat down. Too close. Way too close. His thigh pressed against mine instantly beneath the table. My wolf reacted violently to the contact.

“Bane,” I warned lowly. He turned toward me slowly, completely unbothered. “Yes, sweetheart?” I clenched my jaw. “Hunter,” I said quickly while standing up, “let’s go somewhere else.” I grabbed Hunter’s hand immediately. But before we could move—Bane caught my wrist. Hard. Too hard. Pain shot up my arm instantly. “Stay, sweetheart,” he said quietly.

That commanding alpha tone slipped into his voice naturally. The kind wolves instinctively obeyed. Nyx recoiled angrily inside me. “This table is too crowded,” I announced tightly. Hunter stood up immediately now. To his credit, he looked terrified but still stepped slightly in front of me. “You’ll leave her alone.”

The entire restaurant went silent. Bane slowly looked up at him. And smiled. Not a friendly smile. The dangerous kind. “This one here,” Bane said calmly while curving an arm possessively around my waist, “is mine.” His grip tightened. “She knows she wasn’t supposed to go out with anyone else.”

Rage exploded through me. I tried squirming out of his hold immediately, but it was useless. He was too strong. “Screw you, Bane,” I snapped. “I’m not yours. Leave us alone.” Something dark flickered across his face. His patience finally snapped. Before I could react, his hand grabbed my jaw and his mouth crashed violently against mine.

The entire restaurant gasped. The kiss wasn’t soft. It wasn’t loving. It was possession. Pure alpha dominance mixed with jealousy and fury. I tried pushing him away, but he only kissed me harder. His wolf was too close to the surface now. I could feel his canines pressing painfully against my lower lip—then sharp pain. Blood. I gasped softly against his mouth. Nyx whimpered.

Bane pulled back breathing heavily, his eyes darker now, almost glowing. Tears burned my eyes instantly. This date is over. I already knew it. Damon stepped forward carefully. “Take her home,” Bane ordered roughly. “I’ll do it,” Damon answered immediately. Hunter moved slightly closer toward me again, but Bane growled low enough that even I felt it in my chest. A warning. Deadly.

The next thing I knew, Bane had lifted me into his arms like I weighed nothing. I started hitting his chest instantly. “Put me down!” Every eye in the restaurant followed us. Nobody tried stopping him. Nobody even looked surprised. “Bane, no......” He ignored me completely while carrying me outside. “Don’t touch a hair on his head!” I shouted desperately over his shoulder. “Do you hear me?!”

Still nothing. He simply handed me off to Damon once we reached the parking lot before turning back toward the restaurant. Toward Hunter. Fear crashed into me instantly. “Bane!” But he was already walking away. Damon quickly opened the passenger door. “Get in.”

The drive home was painfully silent. I was grateful for that. Because if Damon asked me one question, I probably would have broken down immediately.

Streetlights blurred past the windows while I sat curled slightly against the seat trying not to cry. Trying and failing. Halfway home, the tears finally came anyway. I covered my face with my hands as quiet sobs escaped me helplessly.

Nyx stayed curled painfully deep inside my chest. Silent. Broken. Damon didn’t say anything. Didn’t stare. Didn’t try to comfort me immediately. And honestly that somehow made me cry harder. When we finally parked outside my house, I quickly wiped at my face in embarrassment. “I’m sorry,” I whispered.

Damon looked at me quietly for a moment. Then suddenly he leaned over and pulled me gently into his arms. The hug startled me completely. But it was… nice. Warm. Safe. Which honestly meant he was probably dead the moment Bane smelled him on me. “Why is he doing this?” I whispered brokenly against Damon’s shoulder. “He doesn’t love me.”

Damon sighed softly. “No,” he admitted quietly. “He doesn’t.” That hurt more than hearing it from Bane somehow. “But werewolves are possessive about their mates,” Damon continued carefully. “Especially alphas.” I stayed quiet. “And Bane…” Damon shook his head slightly. “He’s been fighting with his father for years. Alpha Alistair actually wants him to mate with you.”

I blinked slowly. What? Damon leaned back slightly to look at me. “So now Bane’s even more determined to choose Pia instead.” Understanding settled painfully in my chest. I laughed softly. Bitterly. “So I’m basically a pawn in some father son argument.” Damon’s expression tightened because he clearly knew I was right.

“You deserve better than this,” he said quietly. I looked up at him then. And for the first time, I noticed something strange in his eyes. Regret. Deep regret. Like there was something he wished he could change. I gently pulled away first. “Thank you for bringing me home,” I whispered softly while fumbling awkwardly with the car door.

Then I paused. “And… please make sure they don’t kill my date.” Damon looked genuinely disappointed by that request. Not angry. Just disappointed. Still, after a second, he nodded anyway. “I’ll make sure Hunter gets home safely.” Then he smiled faintly. Gently. And somehow that almost made me cry all over again.

I stare in disbelief as one black SUV after another pulls up in front of the Pack's house. How many people is Grandpa Arthur bringing with him? The whole army???I think the whole pack members are here, staring in disbelief like I am right now. Big strong men come out of the vehicles.Alpha Alistair and Bane are standing at the front with the pack's Beta and Gamma and Delta, along with the elders and some head warriors.I can see Luna Lydia with the other women there. I recognize some kids from school as well. I spot Mia and her minions in the crowd. She has a scarf around her neck. So I left a mark on her. I feel Nyx's gleeful satisfaction. My wolf somehow worries me a bit these days. I can feel how she's changing. We just arrived, and I'm standing in the crowd with my parents and Genevieve. Aurelia, Vesper, and River are right behind me. Aurelia said she wants to be around me so that she can be “close to the action”. I should've supplied her with popcorn before we came."Ooohh...so

After that talk with my parents, Caspian took me out for some ice-cream, then we came back to his massive place again.“So, I heard that you like my Corvette Stingray,” says Julian, looking mischievous. “You know, I can be persuaded to part with it...at a price.”We’re now sitting in their living room with the rest of the lycans. Julian is sitting lazily on one of the plush cozy chairs with his long legs resting on the coffee table.“You name the price, I’ll pay for it,” says Caspian.“No, you don’t have to buy the car for me, Casp,” I object from my sitting position on Caspian’s lap.“I don’t want your money,” states Julian. “I want my payment from Livana.”“From me? You pick a wrong person, buddy. I don’t have money to pay for it. I’m dirt poor,” I announce proudly.Selene giggles from where she’s lying on the sofa with her head on Silas's lap.“No, I don’t want your money, I want a kiss..."“No!” growls Caspian, tightening his arms around me.“On my cheek.” finishes Julian.“No!”

Caspian thinks that it’s time that he should meet my parents. I think so too. People at school already know that I’m with a lycan by now. News like that travels fast. It’s better that my parents hear it from us, rather than from someone else.I ask him to come back later so that I can break it to my parents first before they meet him. They’ll be home pretty soon.“Why can’t I come in with you now? I’ll be very good,” he promises. He constantly needs to be touching me, especially after I told him about Alpha Alistair’s plan. It’s like he needs to reassure himself that I’m his and nobody’s taking me away from him.“Really? You promise to behave?” I raise an eyebrow at him disbelievingly.“I didn’t say I’ll behave. I said I’ll be good...very good,” his lips curl up into a sexy, naughty smile. His silver-grey eyes alight with mischief.“That’s what I’m afraid of,” I reply, suppressing a thousand butterflies about to break free in my tummy at the look on his gorgeous face. It’s still hard

"We never got to eat, you must be hungry," remarks Caspian as he keys in the code. A metal door smoothly slides open to reveal the biggest garage I've ever seen. There must be more than ten cars in there and several motorcycles. Why would they need that many cars? From practical sedans and SUVs to fancy sports cars. There is a BMW, a Jeep, a Buick, a Ferrari, a Porsche, a Bugatti...just wow! There are a few other exotic cars that I have never seen before and have no slightest idea what the make of them, but my mouth water at the sight of a red 1967 Corvette. That baby is totally lickable!Caspian smiles at the direction where my eyes are drawn to."Which one is yours?" I ask him."The Ferrari, the Aston Martin, the eco-friendly Tesla we arrived in today, and also the Ducati over there," he points at one of the motorbikes in there."The Corvette belongs to Julian, but I don't think he would mind if we took it for a spin," he adds as he opens a metal cabinet by the wall and produces a s

Upon seeing the three faces, I yelp and quickly hide against Caspian's chest. I grip the front of his shirt in embarrassment. My face must be beet red. Cuddly bunnies and fuzzy slippers!!! This is so embarrassing. “Well, hello Caspian. Hello Livana. Nice to meet you,” says a male voice. His voice is full of mirth. “Hi Livana,” says Selene. “Hello,” says another male voice. Must be Silas. “Hi,” I mumble against Caspian's chest. I'm in hiding. I hear laughter, so I press my face harder against his chest. There's no way I'm coming out to face them now. I hear the rumble of laughter in his chest and feel his body shakes with laughter. “Sunshine, are you coming out to meet everyone soon?” I shake my head and close my eyes. No. I feel his warm hand comes up to press gently on my back. They are still laughing. “What are you guys doing home now anyway? It's not even lunchtime yet,” he asks his friends. "Oh, we decided to check in on you and have lunch at home. Where is th

The ride to Caspian's house felt unreal. One minute I had been standing in a crowded school hallway trying to stop him from turning Bane into a permanent wall decoration. The next, I was sitting beside him, watching the town disappear behind us. Neither of us spoke much. His hand remained wrapped around mine the entire time, and strangely... I liked it. For once, my mind wasn't racing in a hundred different directions. For once, I felt safe. When we finally arrived, I couldn't stop staring. The house was enormous. Not flashy and not the kind of mansion people showed off online but elegant. The stone walls, tall windows, and sprawling grounds somehow suited Caspian perfectly. Everything about the place felt strong, timeless, like it had been standing there for centuries."Wow."Caspian glanced at me. "You like it?"I nodded. "It's beautiful."Something softened in his expression. "I'll tell the architect."I rolled my eyes, then paused. "Wait."His lips twitched. "You believed that?""
