Aurelia’s Pov

It’s been five days and I’ve been scared to tell Kael about the news. I was excited to finally be pregnant. My wish was finally coming true, but at the same time, I felt it was too late.

I’d been to the hospital a couple of days earlier to confirm this. I was indeed pregnant—two weeks pregnant. I was holding Kael's child—the heir he had been looking for so long.

“You should tell him, my lady,” Victoria, my maid, said as she came into the room.

I was leaning against the window frame lost in my thoughts as I watched the sunset. I didn’t dare to tell him the truth. What would he do? Could he really send Liora away if I told him? I was his Luna, but so was she now. I was scared and confused that I would still be rejected after I broke the news to him.

But as I looked into Victoria’s eyes, I could tell that it was the right thing to do.

“I will,” I said leaning off the window frame. “Thank you, Victoria.”

She nodded and gave a bow before I rushed out of the room. Courage had bloomed from nowhere. I was finally ready to tell him the truth. With the pregnancy result in my hands, I rushed through the corridor hoping to make it to his room before the sun went completely down.

But the worst happened. I stumbled into Liora in the hallway who was talking arrogantly to one of the maids. She dismissed the maid immediately before turning to find me standing before her completely frozen.

She scoffed as she saw me, her hazel eyes raking me. I clutched the results in my hands as the rage built in my chest.

“Well, well, well,” she said, walking towards me, a mischievous smile on her face. “Look at what the cat dragged in.”

I clenched my jaws standing my ground. I had to stand up to her. If I didn’t, I was going to lose everything to her.

“Stay away from me,” I warned.

She chuckled, amused by my feeble warning before her eyes dropped to the results in my hands. The spark of intrigue in her eyes made her next move clear.

“What do we have here?” She asked, reaching for the results, but I pulled away before she could grab them.

“It’s none of your business,” I replied through clenched teeth.

In a blur, she appeared behind me, snatching the results from me and reading it as she leaned against the wall. There was a bulb directly above her head, and its yellow light bathed her completely. Her eyes flickered with something vicious, the smile on her face dissolving as she read the results.

“You’re….” she said, looking up at me in complete disbelief. “That’s impossible.”

I gave her a smirk. I finally had an edge over her, and she could see it. For the first time in a long time, I knew I won.

“That’s my sign of victory,” I said, snatching the results from her grasp. “You better pack your bags, Liora. I think you’re on track to be the first Luna to be sent away.”

Liora laughed softly, folding her arms. No matter how hard she tried to downplay her disbelief, I could see it in her eyes. She had lost. And she was getting kicked back to the Red Moon pack.

“You see, Kael isn’t around because he went on a hunting trip,” she said leaning off the wall. “And by the time he returns, I will break the news of my pregnancy to him first.”

My jaw hung loose as I heard that. She was pregnant? No. It couldn’t be true. She was lying. There was no way Kael would have…..? I couldn’t be sure. He’d replaced me with her.

But still, I shook my head refusing to believe her. Liora was already walking down the hall when I came back to my senses. No. I couldn’t let her win. Not when I was this close to victory.

I squeezed the results in my hand. This time, I was going to win. For sure.

Kael returned later that evening, and I quickly rushed towards the dining hall with the results in my hand ready to break the news to him. I couldn’t wait to savor the look on Liora’s face when Kael kicked her out of the palace.

I was exhausted from being in the kitchen all evening with the maids. I’d decided to make dinner. I wanted Kael to be prepared for the news, and I also wanted to drown in Liora’s failure. This time, I was going to win.

I arrived at the dining room to find Kael seated already. He looked exhausted and his jet black hair was damp and fell across his forehead. Sitting beside him was Liora and she was…. She was wearing one of Kael’s shirts. I was stunned by this. Kael never let me touch his things. But somehow she was in his shirt.

My jaws tightened as my heart squeezed in hurt. There was no need for that. I had everything I needed to win this battle in my hands literally.

“Are you going to stand there all night or are we going to have dinner?” Kael asked, his irritation vivid in his tone.

I glanced at Liora who seemed a bit nervous and smiled warmly.

“I have an announcement to make,” I said, my eyes falling back to Liora. There were beads of sweat on her forehead.

Kael looked up at me, his lemon eyes displaying how disinterested he was.

“It’s not right for you to say it, before I do, Aurelia,” Liora said.

I looked at her shocked. Liora turned to Kael whose focus was on hers.

“I’m pregnant, Kael,” she said as she pulled out a test kit to show him. It was positive. I stood there baffled. How had she pulled that off? Was she really pregnant? No. There was no way. If Liora were pregnant, then there was no need for my big reveal.

I squeezed my results in disappointment as I watched Kael hug Liora warmly. My heart shattered into a thousand pieces. Kael looked up at me after I took my seat quietly at the table.

“What did you want to say?” He asked.

I shook my head. “It’s nothing.”

Liora scoffed and took a spoonful of the soup I made. After a few spoons, she spat out the soup and clutched her stomach, screaming in pain at the top of her voice.

Kael rose from his chair and rushed to her. Liora lay on the floor, clutching her stomach in pain with blood oozing from her thighs.

“Liora. What is it?”

I stared at her completely shocked. What was going on?

“Poison,” she managed to say. “I’ve been poisoned.”

Kael stared at her plate and the realization hit me. I knew what was coming next.

“Who made this?” He demanded. “Who?”

Liora’s eyes found mine, and for a split second, they flickered in amusement.

“Aurelia.”

Kael’s POV“You look like shit,” Ethan said as he stepped into my study. It was late at night, and I still couldn’t get some sleep. I couldn’t keep my mind off Asher and Aurelia. They were right there waiting for me to take them back. Or at least that was what I thought. Aurelia wouldn’t forgive me easily for what I’d done. I didn’t expect her to. It had been a mistake. A mistake that I couldn’t take back. Throughout dinner, I was lost in my thoughts and even after that as I put Eliana to sleep, she could tell that something was bugging me. I didn’t expect seeing Aurelia once again to hurt this much. But it did. I sighed as Ethan walked towards my desk. I was seated with a bottle of bourbon before me. Ethan had a smirk on and I couldn’t tell if he was mocking me. “Why would you call me so late to your study?” He asked, taking a seat before the desk. I didn’t answer him. Instead, I reached into one of the drawers and pulled out another glass for him. Ethan seemed appreciative as

  • Rejected by my Alpha, Loved by my Beta   7. Cracks in an Alpha’s Armor.

Aurelia’s POVA sense of relief washed over me as Kael’s Cadillac drove out of sight. We were safe for now. I knew that Kael wasn’t going to stop. Now that he knew of Asher’s existence he was going to keep coming until he finally got what he wanted—him. My nightmare had come to life. And I was scared. Not just for me and my son, but for my pack as well. Kael could be ruthless when pushed over the edge. Rune turned around and walked back into the house without saying a word. Today I’d seen a different side of him. And it made me wonder, how many sides of Rune has he hidden from me? He’d stepped in when Kael got closer and had called himself my fiancé. That had been the biggest surprise. He was ready to do anything to protect me. I was too afraid to speak or stand up against Kael. I was a fool, an Alpha that still felt threatened by her past. I’d always said that the past wouldn’t affect me any longer, but it’d just been a facade and a stupid excuse to bury them deep instead of helpin

  • Rejected by my Alpha, Loved by my Beta   6. An Unpleasant Surprise.

Kael’s POV Maybe this was karma for what’d done. There was no question that I deserved it. But how it all played out was hysterical, and I would laugh to myself if the air surrounding all of us weren’t buzzing with sparks of intensity. The shocked look on Aurelia’s face and the stony cold look from those icy blue eyes of the man standing before her now. He looked like he was about to bite my limbs off. “Hello, Aurelia,” I greeted softly. Aurelia was still frozen in shock. How long has it been? Five years? Even though it’d been that long, it didn’t look like she’d changed a bit. Her long auburn hair looked quite a mess but those silver eyes still sparkled the way I remembered. Her bronze skin was lubricated with sweat making it shine in the afternoon sun. I gulped hard as I stared at her. “Who are you?” She finally found the courage to ask. “What are you doing here?” Her brows furrowed after that. Her question left me confused. Was five years too long for her to forget about me?

  • Rejected by my Alpha, Loved by my Beta   5. Trouble in Paradise.

Aurelia’s POVFive years later. The late afternoon sun stood high as I arrived back at the pack. I was drenched in sweat and dirt with the feeling of exhaustion crawling on my skin. I’d gone for a weekly hunt with a bunch of Delta guards who were dragging our game back to the pack. Being Alpha was more tedious than I imagined. There were a lot of pointless traditions you had to keep on and deer hunting was one of them in the Red Moon pack. As I arrived at the royal house, he was waiting for me. My beta, Rune Carver. His short white hair glittered in the sun and so did his icy blue eyes. The sun bathed his pale skin making it white as snow. He was gorgeous, and he knew this. After helping him rescue that little boy, he’d told me I was Alpha material but I never believed him. I’d thought the pack would never let a female rule over them, but I was wrong. They’d all seen how strong I was and so they agreed to give me the position after the last Alpha passed on. On that day, he’d been b

  • Rejected by my Alpha, Loved by my Beta   4. Flames of Destiny.

Aurelia’s POV THREE DAYS. THREE FUCKING DAYS. That’s how long it had taken me to get here. After going through an excruciating last few days, I was greeted by destruction. My pack was in flames. It’s been how many years since Kael saved me from certain death? I couldn’t tell. But coming home and seeing my pack in the same situation left me enraged. I shut my eyes trying to push away the screams and cries for help, but I couldn’t. I hated seeing my pack this way. My wolf stirred inside, seeking control. But I didn’t let her. Instead, I felt a strange power surge within me like I was bolstered with primordial strength. The wave of sadness I felt on my way here was completely submerged by the rage my wolf and I felt. “Someone help me!” I heard a lady scream. My eyes searched for the direction from which the voice came. It was a burning house. I dashed towards it in a flash. The front door had been blown off by the heat of the flames. There were cries from a little girl co

  • Rejected by my Alpha, Loved by my Beta   3. Torched Bonds.

Aurelia’s POV I was cold and lonely, engulfed in darkness with the stench of urine and dirt making me uneasy. I was in the Royal dungeon. Kael had locked me up immediately after Liora had told him everything. I was a fool to think that victory would come that easily. Liora was stronger than I could imagine. She’d pounced on my mistake and found a way to manipulate Kael. She knew everything about me. She knew that I was going to make dinner, and so she poisoned herself. A drastic move just so she could send me away. She despised me so much. The feeling was mutual. Her goal was clear—to humiliate me and take everything away from me. And she’d done just that. The sound of footsteps echoing through the darkness snatched me out of my thoughts. I was sitting on the cold stony floor, hugging my knees as I tried to keep it together. There was no point in losing my mind about something I couldn’t save. I rubbed my stomach. My child. If only Kael knew. “Why?” Kael spoke through the
