MARCUS

The first light of day break crept through my window as I stirred awake, I forgot again to bring the curtains down.

I stood up from my bed tired and weak, I hardly slept last night, only the weak scent of my mate kept me sane. I could already feel the heaviness of the day's task pressing down on me.

Today, I'd meet the witch who might be able to find Emily. My warriors and I would meet silently at the park's boundaries, meeting with a singular goal: to find my mate and their Luna.

  • Rejected by the Alpha king    CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT

Emily’s POVThe clock struck midnight. Not a servant, not Lilith, not even a whisper of attention. Hunger gnawed at my stomach, thirst clung like fire to my throat, but the thought of Renon and the nightmare that awaited me filled me with rage.I could not marry him. I would rather die than let him claim me in that way, let him cage me with promises I despised. My mind raced, desperate, planning. If no one would help me, then I would escape myself. The silver chains bit into my wrists, cold and heavy, but not enchanted. They were ordinary, yet I knew I could not wait for magic to save me. I forced every ounce of the power I had left. Pain lanced through my arms, veins threatening to burst, but I refused to falter. The chains trembled, then snapped, the links splintering as if they had been paper. I fell to my knees, gasping, but free. The door, as if sensing my determination, swung open quietly. A miracle or perhaps just negligence but the two guards stationed there were slumped agai

  • Rejected by the Alpha king    CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN

Marcus’s POVThe cold wind lashed against my face as I rode north, the steady pounding of hooves beneath me echoing the restlessness in my chest.I had no time to lose. Every second that ticked by, Emily slipped further and further from my reach. Elena had told me she was taken somewhere near the river bend, but as I pushed my horse harder in that direction, dread began to coil in my stomach. When I finally arrived, my eyes swept over the area, trees stretching tall, the steady trickle of the river breaking the silence but nothing else. No scent of a rogue pack lingering in the woods. No overturned leaves or broken twigs to suggest a struggle. Not even a shred of fabric or footprints. Just emptiness.I clenched my jaw, frustration and helplessness burning through me. My hands tightened on the reins, my wolf pacing beneath my skin. Where are you, Emily?I dismounted, stalking the riverbank, searching for anything, any sign that she had truly been here. It was as if she had been swall

  • Rejected by the Alpha king    CHAPTER TWENTY SIX

Emily’s POVThe dim glow of the chamber candles flickered against the stone walls. My thoughts had been restless after what I did to Renon.Sitting across from Elara, the powerful witch with her striking red hair and piercing emerald eyes, I finally found the courage to voice what had been haunting me.“I keep having these dreams,” I whispered, my voice raw, uncertain. “But they don’t feel like dreams. They feel… real, like they mean something.”Elara arched a brow, motioning for me to continue.“There’s this old woman,” I said, my hands twisting nervously in my lap. “I never see her fully, but I know she’s there. And her eyes… They're violet. Just like mine.” I hesitated, chewing on my lip. “She always feels familiar, like she’s a part of me, but I can’t explain why.”Elara didn’t interrupt. Her gaze held steady, patient, as if she already knew more than she would admit.“And then there’s the bat,” I continued, shuddering at the memory. “It came to me in one of my dreams. I killed it

  • Rejected by the Alpha king    CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE

Marcus’s POVBeth’s eyes bored into mine, sharp and searching, but I had no patience left for her. My chest still ached, my body fragile from what Elaria had told me, and my thoughts were already tangled with guilt I couldn’t shake.“What do you want, Beth?” I asked, my voice low, weary, but firm. “I don’t want to see you right now.”She flinched at the edge in my tone, but quickly masked it with that familiar softness she often wielded when she wanted to bend my will. “Marcus,” she said, taking a careful step forward, “I came to apologize.”I narrowed my eyes.“For what?” I asked flatly. Her lips pressed together before she sighed. “For what I did during the council meeting. I shouldn’t have spoken against you like that. It wasn’t my place.”The apology should have meant something, but it felt rehearsed. My silence lingered between us, heavy and uncomfortable. She was waiting for me to acknowledge it, to forgive her, but I refused to give her that satisfaction. When the silence stret

  • Rejected by the Alpha king    CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR

Marcus’s POVSlowly, painfully, I clawed my way back toward consciousness. The first thing I felt was the pounding in my skull. Then, the ache in my chest became deep.I gasped, my eyes flying open, only to squint against the dim glow of unfamiliar candles. The air smelled of herbs and smoke, not the earth of my pack’s lands. I sat up too quickly, dizziness crashing over me, forcing me back down against soft sheets I didn’t recognize.“Easy.”The voice was calm and steady sounding familiar. I turned my head, and there stood Alex. Relief flickered through me. If Alex was here, then at least I wasn’t completely alone in whatever pit of uncertainty I had landed in.“Alex…” My voice was hoarse, strained. “Where…where am I? This isn’t home.”“You’ve been unconscious for two days,” Alex explained, his eyes sharp with concern. “We tried everything, the healers, even the wolf-shamans. Nothing worked. So we brought you here, to Elaria.”“Elaria?” The name sent a ripple of unease through me.“

  • Rejected by the Alpha king    CHAPTER TWENTY THREE

Emily’s POVThe sound of Renon’s laughter was harsh and mocking. I tugged weakly at the chains cutting into my wrists, my breaths shallow and ragged, my entire body trembling. “You want to know what I put into you?” Renon sneered, his voice carrying a dangerous delight. “Relax…It wasn’t poison, Emily. No, it was something far more… dangerous.”I swallowed hard, forcing myself to meet his gaze even as fear coiled in my chest like a serpent ready to strike. “What was it?” My voice cracked, but I managed to keep it steady enough. His smile widened, and he stepped closer, crouching just enough to look directly into my eyes. “It was created by one of the most powerful witches to have ever lived. A concoction that was made to trigger every shred of power inside of you.” His lips curled upward, exposing a grin filled with arrogance. “But power, my dear, always comes with consequences.”His words sent a shiver through me. My wolf stirred inside, growling low, restless, as if already resistin
