Chapter twenty-seven

Alpha Rex's POV

Restless and anxious, I sat in my study room, waiting for any news about Joan. She had left the pack, and I couldn't help but blame myself for letting her go. The realization that she was my mate hit me like a ton of bricks, and I felt a heavy weight of regret settle in my chest. How could I have treated her so poorly? The thought of it made me feel both horrible and disgusted with myself.

Just as I was lost in my spiral of self-reflection, the door swung open, and Tyler, my loyal beta, entered the room. I looked up at him expectantly, hoping he had some information about Joan's whereabouts.

"Tyler, what have you found?" I asked eagerly, desperately wanting some glimmer of hope.

His expression shifted, and I could tell by the look on his face that he hadn't found Joan yet. A pang of disappointment and worry shot through me. "Please tell me you have some leads," I pleaded, my voice filled with hope and desperation.
