Avery’s POV
"I'll be down soon; I'm done dressing," I said, and the call ended.I added a last layer of lipstick as I was going for a very mild look. I didn’t want to be so flashy, and yet I didn’t want to look too relaxed about the outing.I checked myself in the mirror one last time to be sure my look was to my satisfaction. I pondered if I was dressing too much for the occasion, but I wanted Damon's eyes on me all of the time.I thought of declining his invitation because I was not in the mood to go out, but I didn't want to turn him down. He was the only thing I was looking forward to these days, as everyone here was making my life miserable.Magaret knew how rude Isabella had been to me of late, and she didn't do anything to shun her. I knew if Dad were still home, he would have found something to do about the situation, but he was struck down with a strong illness as I struggled to raise his money for his medical bills. It seemed this situation was to the benefit of the two, as they used every opportunity they got to make my life miserable. It was so hard to overlook the new behavior, so it was just carved up for no good reason.Magaret used to be soft to me whenever Dad was around, but now she would yell and insult me at the slightest provocations. I didn't know what I was expecting—that they'd scold their daughter because of me. Of course not.I was expecting the treatment fosters gave and nothing more.I knew she was going to have something to say about my clothes, my make-up, or even going out with Damon. She always found a way just to get on my nerves and nothing more.I walked down the stairs as I prayed she wouldn't be there or, worse, Isabella. As I got down to the final stairs, I steered my eyes, and unfortunately, Isabella was standing behind me with Magaret, and they had questioning looks on their faces."And where do you think you're going by this time?" Magaret splurted, staring at me with an inquisitive look."I'm going out on a date with Damon," I replied sharply."Damon this, Damon that." Isabella spat out."Watch it, Isabella." I threatened, with a serious look on my face."Or what? Who gave you such permission to wander around anytime you like? I didn't know you were already a slut.. She spat while walking closer to me, and her words hit me like a heavy blow."I'm not a slut, and Damon is my boyfriend; I don't think I need permission from you before I go anywhere with him." I retorted, staring at her sharply. I wondered what exactly she took me for."Are you now talking back at me? You think you're all grown up now, and you have wings to spread and fly.."She roared out in anger, staring at me with so much anger evident in her countenance."I didn't do anything to you, and I don't have time for whatever you're about to start." I said calmly and turned to leave the room when she pulled me back. I was about to throw a slap across my face when I caught hold of her hands."What were you just about to do? Slap me? That'll be the last time you'll try to pull such a stunt on me. She stood there in shock as I flung her hands back."How dare you do that to my mom, you witch?" Isabella muttered, but from a distance, as I knew she was scared of what I could do to her."Leave me to my affairs because I didn't do anything to the both of you. I won't stand there and let you ridicule me for no good reason.Just then, Damon walked into the scene as his eyes scoured around to be sure of what was actually going on."Let's go, Damon." I said, waking ahead of him, not wanting him to get involved in any drama between the two of them."She's a witch." I heard Isabella curse out behind me.“Just like her mother." I Heard- Magaret Mutter, and that was it.“You don’t even know who my mother is, and you’re not even worth calling her name here and there. I don’t know how or who she is, but she’s a better person than you’ll ever be.” I spat out. That was the very first time I'd be retaliating for the insults she made to my mother."And don't you think of coming back here; just stay where you're going." I heard Magaret yell behind me on top of her lungs. I knew my response would teach her to keep my mother’s name out of her frustrated mouth and the little rod she calls her daughter. I felt embarrassed that Damon had to witness what just happened, but he seemed to care less about the situation.“Are you sure you still want to go after all that just happened? It’s okay if you just want to stay back and rest." Damon whispered as we walked toward his car.“What about you? I know how much you spent planning this, so I can’t throw it all away because of Isabella and Magaret; they are not worth it." I said, staring intensely into his eyes.“It’s fine if you don’t want to go; I care about your well-being, and I won’t want you to go if you’re not going to be at peace the whole time there.” He muttered, gently patting my hair backwards, which was his way of comforting me.“No, I'm fine; I want to go.” I replied with a smile as he leaned over to me and placed a gentle kiss on my lips. His lips were warm and cold at the same time, and they were just the right texture to calm me down.Avery’s POVI was inside my room when Magaret walked in and she started giving an ultimatum to me,I stared keenly at her, wondering if she knew what she was talking about at all.“You need to get married to that Alpha, or you’ll find a way to fork out the money we need for the surgery; the choice is all yours.”I smiled fondly after hearing what my stepmother just said.“So you’re forcing me to get married to someone else when you know I have someone I love already? And yet you can’t push your daughter to do the same; after all, it’s the same father we are trying to save here. So you think I’ll do this so you can get the money?” “Well, I would leave you to your dreams if you think that’s ever going to happen.”“So it seems you don’t want this to be done as easily as it can be.” Magaret raised her voice, staring keenly at me with so much hatred evident in her voice.“Then I’ll just end the treatment, as we do not have enough money to continue it. I want you to know this is all your fa
Avery’s POV"Please,” I moaned gently, rubbing my hands tightly on his back.“Are you sure you want to go through with this? You don’t even know me, and I don’t want to hurt you.” He whispered into my ears, which only made my nipples harder than they already were.“I want you; why are you wasting so much time?" I murmured and moaned deeply. He got off me and stood by the corner of the room, staring intently at my body, like he was evaluating it. I stood up and walked towards him, staring at his face with so much lust in my eyes.“You want this, don’t you?”“Yes..” He said this while placing his hands on my neck, caressing it back and forth.“Strip.” He muttered out of nowhere.“What?” I inquired in shock. “You heard me well, didn’t you? I said, "Strip." He said, raising his tone as my heart raced at the thought of someone seeing me in such a state. Without any more hesitation, I unbuttoned my shirt, taking my time one button after the other, then I pulled off my skirt and then my bra
Avery's POVIn the pretty ceremony hall, I dressed up in a beautiful gown, ready for the mating ceremony. The place was almost crowded with different people. The air smelled like special herbs, and everyone was excited. Damon, wearing traditional clothes, came up to me with a sweet smile. The ceremony began fully now, and the elders chanted some ancient blessings, and the colorless flames of sacred candles cast a warm, golden glow in the air. After all this, we danced, and he told me,"You look amazing, Avery. Today is about us." I forced a smile, still feeling hurt inside."Thanks, Damon. You're not so bad either." I said, trying to hide the pain. As we danced, Damon leaned in for a kiss. The crowd watched, and then he asked,"Avery, will you be my mate forever?" I hesitated, feeling torn inside. Finally, I took a step back and said,"I can't. No, I won't." The room went silent. Damon looked shocked, and people started talking."Why, Avery?" Damon asked, looking hurt. He's such a pre
Avery’s POV“Anyways, good that the mating issue has been settled because I am here standing before everyone to tell you that Avery is my mate.” I heard a familiar tone declare from amongst the crowd as I held my hands tightly, hoping it wasn’t who I thought it was.And to my greatest surprise, it was Dean!“How did he find me? Why did he find me?” Isabella springs forward to him as she gently holds his hands.“I’m not sure you know what you’re saying; Avery can’t possibly be your mate; she has already rejected the one mate she has; are you sure I’m not the one you meant to say?” She muttered, staring at me lustfully, which only seemed cringy to me.“Are you trying to question my sanity? I don’t know what I’m saying or doing. If you don’t get your hands off me, it might be the very last time you’ll get to use it.” He blurted out, sending out an obvious threat to her. Immediately, Isabella took her hands off him and stepped backwards. Dean stared at me, noticing I wasn’t saying anythin
Avery POVAs we approached Damon's pack territory, I felt uneasy in my heart. I wondered how he would react to having a child. Some other werewolves would reject the child with the excuse of them not being ready to take care of a child so I wondered if that would be the case with Damon.Turning to look at Margaret, I realized that she seemed unnaturally cheerful. “Stop right there and state your business!” Two guards stepped in front of us, fixing us with a glare.“I am Margaret and this is my daughter Avery.” She replied. “We are here to meet your alpha.”“What for?” a burly and serious-looking wolf asked, stepping forward.“And who might you be?” Margaret asked, staring him down.“I am the Beta of this pack and if you have anything to say to the Alpha, you can say it to me.” He replied.“I feel that the news we need to tell the alpha needs to be disclosed to him personally by us.” Margaret countered with a cold expression.“and I can assure you that there is no need to disturb your
A man sat down behind a huge mahogany desk deep in thought. “Why have I been unable to see that girl again?” he thought to himself.“It's pretty annoying and frustrating having someone in your arms and the next minute, you have no idea where the person is.” He said to himself with a sigh.“What seems to be the problem alpha?” his beta asked.Looking up from his table, the eyes of Dean rested on the figure of Lucas, his Beta. Lucas had been his best friend since he was born. It's been said that they were basically born holding each other's hands so it came as no surprise when Dean became the Lucan king and appointed Lucas as his Beta.“There isn't really a problem.” He replied with a sigh. “I'm only remembering someone.”“And who might that be?” He asked, raising his head up from the document he was going through to stare at Dean.Shaking his head in dismay, Dean replied, “That's the problem, I do not know who that is.”“That's weird.” Lucas responded with furrowed brows. “How could yo
Avery POVWalking towards me with a happy smile on his face, he spoke up, “I've wondered where you were from and I didn't know you worked in the Redmoon pack.”“H…hi.” I said with an uneasy smile. “I actually do not work here since I'm the first daughter of Alpha West Rosacea.“Oh wow!” Dean said in surprise. “Why haven't I seen you before?” He asked.“My father is against the idea of a woman being involved in pack affairs.” I replied sadly “That's not nice.” Dean said with a frown. “I never got to learn your name last time we met.”Hearing that, fear coursed through my body, causing me to shudder as my mind went to what they did together and I wondered what will happen now. “That…is true.” I replied, swallowing hard.“So can I get the honour of knowing your name?” He asked.“Avery….Avery Rosacea.” I replied, tightening my right hand anxiously.“My name is Dean Elord.” He replied. “I am more than pleased to meet you.” He said with a smile.“Hello Dean, looks like you've met my beauti
Seeing as Damon was not responding, Dean tossed him to the ground nonchalantly, prompting me to rush towards the collapsed form of Damon.Holding him in my hands, I shook him in an attempt to wake him up. “Wake up Damon”! I said in panic. “You cannot die here”.“You really have no reason to pay attention to this waste of space”. Dean said with a frown.Even without turning my head to look at Dean, I could feel his rage radiating off him.“But he is hurt and might die if he isn't taken care of”. I said without turning to look at him. “Someone, come help him”! She shouted.“Avery”. Damon called in exhaustion with his eyes opening up slightly to look at me.“Yes, I am here”. I answered anxiously, staring at his eyes.“I know you cared about me”. He said with a strained smile before coughing. “Kff...kff”.“Won't you let that loser go”? Dean asked. “He's obviously not good enough for you and he doesn't deserve you plus I have won so you really shouldn't be anywhere near him”. He said.Hear
